QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) It is the opposite for me. It is these times that makes the actual winning even more amazing. 2005 wasn't special because I jumped on in May or June and they won. It was special because it was a life time in the making. I'm not a Sox fan for anyone else's approval, or because they win all of the time. They are my team, thick or thin. YOUR TEAM SUCKS YOU LOSING LOSER!

I am going to refresh this thread every minute from now until December when some other team signs him for less than expected.

The one great thing about the Cubs making it into the playoffs is that it gives me some really exciting baseball to watch in October that I truly care about the outcome. Tonight I will be cheering for the those Giants like they have been my team all my life.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Russel Westbrook had a couple knee injuries and look at him. I am totally aware that these injuries do not paralyze White for the rest of his life but he isnt a factor to me until he proves that he is a factor that can be counted on. I dont want to here the phrase "well White is coming back next year so thats a plus" because in my rollodex of the Bears org he hasnt been a part of it and will not be until he lasts a season or two at the very least.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Not even the same planet as the Rose situation. Before Rose's knees broke he was the MVP and had a few very promising seasons, Kevin White just has a high draft pick and 4 games on his chart of accomplishments Not comparing the two in terms of talent or what they mean to the team, just that they were both young talents that continued to have extremely major injuries back to back (to back with Rose). Its a similar trend and I dont want to make the same excuses or try to paint a positive outlook/narrative with White as I did with Rose because I refuse to get burned on an unlucky guy again.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Man the street parking around my condo building can be insane, I've see parked cars get slammed before but this is a whole new level: Happened on the street right behind my condo Tow trucks are the worst. They are all trying to scamper to the next job and they dont care if they run over people in process. I have seen them run red lights, go across four lanes of traffic on the ryan...anything to get to the job the fastest.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Saying he's injury prone is lazy TBH. He overtrained for the combine and caused a stress fracture in his shin. This is an isolated helmet shot to the fibula. Broken bones don't make you injury prone. It's just a violent game. You can chalk them both up to luck in this case. It's not ideal though obviously because he needs as many reps as he can get. I think that's it though. There are some unlucky dudes out there and he seems to be one of them.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) My 9 year old Golden is undergoing life saving surgery tomorrow for tumors that have ruptured on his spleen. This is all incredibly sudden and devastating. I know he's but a dog but he means the world to me, please send good vibes. Kalapse, nothing but good vibes going to your dog and you buddy.

A part of me refuses to go down the same road mentally as I did with DRose. I know they are totally different people but I still feel like I was burned and I dont want to fall into making the same excuses just to see White continue to get hurt time and time again. I am down for the throw away year again if he doesnt have any other major injuries in the next few years but hell two years in football life is a long time to waste. This just sucks huge balls.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) #Bears players expect the ankle injury suffered by #Bears WR Kevin White to keep him out an extended period of time, I'm told. More bad news @rapsheet This is going to be a common theme with him throughout his career it seems.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 08:52 AM) Rick Hahn on the score said he sees disadvantage in announcing rebuild. I'm starting to bet on a rebuild. Makes sense. A team would be may be willing to offer a huge haul to pry a guy who is unavailable away. I think they truly do not know what they are going to do for next year. Whatever way the wind blows their sails. They are thinking if there seems to be a couple players available that they can grab that will be impact players they will go the route of trying to compete but if those players dont pan out (choose not to sign here or trade falls threw) for whatever reason than its gonna be sell mode. But I do think they will venture into buy mode first and if it fails then go to sell.

I cant see Frazier going anywhere. I think the org (including Hawk) loves him so much that its more likely Frazier eventually gets a contract offer than getting traded.

Its as if there is a daily zombie apocalypse in every Walmart. Why does it feel as if everyone there is in survival mode?

QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Agree to disagree then, all's good! I've always been a defense first kind a guy and sometimes stats don't tell the whole story. I don't believe my arguement is all that awful, but to each his own. It wouldn't take that much to improve over Navaro. Personally, and I don't know who exactly is available, but I think a 2nd base improvement is the way to go. I'm not impressed with Lawrie and have decided that Saladino is a better utility guy. See, now this is a mature and respectful poster. No that it matters but I love this kind of attitude towards discussion.

Hahn says that they absolutely under achieved this year. They dont think there is a problem with this team.
-
I have no idea what the FO plans are and never really have because they make s*** up as they go.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Listening to this press conference, I'm beginning to fully believe they will rebuild. Hahn sounds really confident about making a major move and I doubt that would be us spending a bunch of money to acquire big talent. Really? Why? I am listening and they havent hinted either way from what I could hear. Hahn did mention that it was a possibility of rebuild when he said Ricky could manage either a rebuilding team or a going for it team in 2017.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Mets will win and blown their only starter in the process and then get swept by the cub. Yeah this is what I would bet on right now.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) AND YOU WERE STILL WRONG LOL thanks for pointing that out. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Do we have to talk about Carlos Sanchez and Leury Garcia all offseason? Let's hope not. Because the odds of them sustaining their recent success in starting roles is about 5-10% at best. No but I am sure you will be name dropping them rather consistently for years to come. LOL

I was in the bleachers. I was so excited the entire day and it all culminated through to the end of that game. It was the closest to a WS win as a non WS game could get. LOL

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) This team could go either way easily. I can see them winning 95+ and I can see them winning 72. Way to step out on the limb there shipps. -
I am not doing anything this weekend but I have gotten a lot of good ideas of places to go and restaurants to try from you guys over the years. What are ya doing this weekend? Any good eats in your future? Taking a road trip? Going to a festival? Concert? Play?

Damn, it just reminds me of how much fun baseball was for me at that black out game. Probably the best sporting experience I ever personally had being at a game.

Quotes from Ryan Lochte.... 1. “These are my shoes that I designed from top to the very sole to the very top to the bottom. Laces.” 2. “I’ve talked in front of … like… a lot of big business people about stuff I didn’t even know.” 3. “One of my favorite movies: What Women Want.” 4. “It’s spelled J-E-A-H. If you say it like how it’s spelled it’s ‘jee-ah.’ But, that’s boring; no one wants to hear that. So you have to really put that emphatis [sic] on that ‘J.’ And then the ‘A-H’ kinda just flows.” 5. “That’s the quickest way to my heart: Laughter.” 6. “One time I really had to go, man, and I was up in the next heat. So I got up on the blocks and I just started peeing in my Speedo. On top of the blocks. And I had my goggles on and started crying because I thought everyone behind me was looking at me and laughing. The starter said ‘Swimmers, take your marks, go.’ I took off. I don’t even know if I did the right stroke. I think that was probably the only time I’ve ever been nervous before a race.” 7. Either Lochte (or the producer who came up with it) should be punched for calling his group of friends the “Lochterage” (rhymes with entourage). 8. “One thing I won’t do: I won’t give up on love.” 9. “The key to the Lochte haircut is being fresh and looking up-to-date.” 10. “Something will pop up in my head. It could be like the weirdest thing. Like all’a sudden like I have like a jumping banana in my head. And I stop and pause. I’m like that damn jumping banana is in my head. Like, I don’t know what’s going on.” 11. “You know what? Ryan Lochte is a pretty good speechmaker.” These are just funny, especially when imagining him saying them.
