  1. Does this change his tradability in any way, good or bad?
  2. I am in sports hell for sure. Not sure what I have done to deserve it. Cubs are champs Sox are a complete joke of an organization Bears are a complete joke + injured + ped's + disaster of a rebuild only TWO YEARS IN! Bulls are really still a joke but at least will be semi watchable for this year Hawks are good again so I will latch on to them like a newborn to a breast

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) Looking forward to checking out the new Tribe Called Quest album when I get home tonight. I love it.
  4. Alshon suspended 4 games for violating leagues PED substance abuse policy.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) Yeah, I know I have had discussions about people only seeing what they want to see, and becoming dumber for it. No we had a discussion about FB news feed being one or the other and thats the only view one would see, literally. You shared an article that broke it down. I could have sworn that was you.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) As a white male who makes decent coin, I personally really have nothing to fear. But I want to f***ing throw up today. Things I am most worried about 2 days later: The US Tech Industry Leaving The Fact that Trump Believes in "Clean" Coal People Who Had Health Coverage Suddenly Losing It Abortion Rights LGBT Rights Minority Rights Everything Vice News Tonight yesterday covered the election results. They covered a woman in Ohio who "couldn't stand to vote for either candidate". She just loves Obama and Obamacare saved her when she had a child 1 year earlier. Without Obamacare, she'd be nowhere. The point being, she saw no reason to vote for what actually mattered to her because she was so uneducated. What part of increased minimum wage and healthcare made these people feel like they were being ignored? Do they really think MINING JOBS are the f***ing answer? I also saw a fantastic article about Google and Facebook's algorithms being a huge reason why the election swung to Trump. Facebook and Google feed you what you WANT to see in your newsfeed and not-so-organic results by understanding what you click on and what interests you. So the uneducated who think that Hillary is a criminal or that Obama isn't American will just keep seeing the same s*** over-and-over-and-over. And when they turn on the evening news, instead of seeing anything with substance, they see Trump spouting off about Crooked Hillary and no coverage of the issues whatsoever. Now we are left with, and I am not exaggerating, a Presidency that could set us back decades and leave my kid and her kids picking up the pieces. ss2k, didnt we have a discussion about this months ago?
  7. I will never forget this feeling as long as I live. I can only hope that this is something we look back on one day and say we overreacted and it didnt put our country back too far. Problem is that I am afraid our regression has already happened a while ago but its just come to the forefront now.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) Bears: 1985 Bulls: 6 titles from 1991-1998 White Sox: 2005 Blackhawks: 3 titles from 2010-2015 Cubs: 2016 I wasn't celebrating last night, but that's a pretty good sports run for Chicago for a fan like me in my 30s. The Bears are lagging behind, but my first ever sports memory is Super Bowl XX and I watched a tape of that game daily as a 4 year old. Yes, a Bears SB win would be totally a new experience for me. I was three years old in 85 and I dont remember anything about it so it might as well never have happened in my world.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) Girl Cub fan at work just asked me if i was stressed out? I said no why. She says, well all you sox fans should be stressed out with the win last night and the dynasty we will become. If we cant get past moments like that then it will be a really miserable next few years. Like serious torture.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) Man, some of you guys get way too concerned about tweets. Like I said when people were b****ing about the Cubs twitter account, it's f***in twitter, it doesn't have to be 100 percent serious all of the time. LOL and its not a representation of the organization. Do they think Hahn is in the background telling the guy who runs the twitter, yeah and put win Chicago ANOTHER championship....yeah, you see what I did there?... they will like that.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) It was, but if they're really going to congratulate the Cubs, then congratulate the Cubs and end it. To include all of the other stuff that tweaks the media is just petty bulls*** from an organization that sucks right now. Its just a twitter account though. Its not like its the FO official public statement about the Cubs winning it.
  12. I feel like I am seeing more loyal Sox fans during this than I expected to see. Many that respectfully declined to jump on the Cubs bandwagon. With the s*** show that we have endured on our end of town I was actually surprised from what I have seen.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) f*** the Cubs. That said, if their winning a title is the worst thing for me this week, I had a pretty good week. As for bandwagon fans with the Cubs, they were already there. I doubt this adds anything to the fanbase. In fact, I really think some of those that were around for the lovable losers might jump off. Their fan base is close to capacity if it isn't there already. I think you hit this right on the head.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) What do you mean by "change the relationship between the fanbases" and why would you want this? Oh I dont know, maybe there wont be so much petty hatred back and forth for the others team? Its healthy to not be so bitter and have so much hate, I would think. I was cheering against them as hard as anyone but I'm glad that I dont hate them to the point that I am sitting here bitter all day. To each is own and if that is how some Sox fans are going to be thats their choice but I am relieved I dont have those feelings today. I actually have had some really nice interactions with Cub fans this morning. They werent rubbing anything in my face, they were just over joyed and relieved.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) I have my White Sox World Series 2005 Hat on at work and I don't care. Haha Dont you feel just a little bit happy for them? I actually feel a weight lifted that they finally got their WS win and this whole thing is over with. It may change the relationship between the fanbases for the good but I am probably just naive to think that is a possibility.
  16. Congrats Cub fans. Its a wonderful time for you and everyone deserves to experience this once in their lifetime. Enjoy.
  17. This seemed like a pretty cool list of "underrated places to eat" in Montreal. I noticed that a lot of these places were listed by other sources of good eats too. Chalet Bar-B-Q Rôtisserie 5654 Sherbrooke Ouest Its doors opened in August 1944 and the restaurant quickly grew a legendary reputation for the best charcoal BBQ chicken in the city, and possibly the best in the world! If you are craving truly awesome crispy, golden, tender and juicy chicken, then this is the place to go. It’s guaranteed to be a finger licking fun time. Chez Nick 1377 Greene Avenue In the ‘20s and ‘30s diners were the hip place to hangout with friends and have a nice malty milkshake and a good burger. Chez Nick was (and still is) one of those famous diners located minutes from downtown on the corner of Sherbrooke and Greene Avenue. The food is just as outstanding as the diner itself. There is something for everyone: burgers, sandwiches, pastas, poutines, and salads. The ‘Nick Specialities’ twists on original classics such as the Nick Croques are a must try. Gibeau Orange Julep 7700 Decarie Boulevard I don’t think there is a single Montrealer who hasn’t been here. If they haven’t one must ask: are they even a true Montrealer anyway? Orange Julep is a must try and a must return often type of place. Although its open all year around these days, it is definitely a summer comfort food must-try spot. Their amazing burgers, fries, hot-dogs, or poutines all washed down with the one and only orange julep. This is bound to be one of the best dining experiences you’ll have in the city. Cosmo 5843 Sherbrooke Tony and wife Irene opened Cosmo in 1967 and it has become a landmark ever since. The diner itself is small, only a dozen bar seats and a summer terrace. Its charm will win you over from your first trip. They are known for the mishmash- a four egg omelette with bacon, ham, sausage, salami, cheese, and tomato served with a side of toast and their famous hash browns. Another Cosmo classic is the Creation: a BLT with egg with cheese and salami on a bagel.Truly one of the city’s best greasy spoons! Montreal Pool Room 1217 Boulevard Saint-Laurent This is the predecessor to places like La Belle Province…and trust me it is so much better! The Pool Room serves what I consider to be the best stemies in the city, and also on the menu you’ll find chicken burgers, fries, and poutines, of course since we are in Montreal after all. The restaurant even claims that legendary gangster Al Capone used to come in often to play pool, before they removed the tables to focus on the food. It’s a great quick lunch spot and even better as a late night stop after a night of partying on the Saint-Laurent strip. Ritz-Carlton Hotel 1228 Sherbrooke Ouest If you are feeling the urge to get all dolled up for a nice cup of tea then the Ritz-Carlton should be on your final destination radar. The hotel has been serving high tea to guests and Montrealers since its inception in December 1912. The service includes all kinds of yummy, dainty, finger sandwiches as well as a wide selection of delicious teas. It is an experience that everyone should try at least once in their lives…just don’t forget to stick out your pinky finger as you sip. Gibby’s Steakhouse 298 Place D’Youville When you think steak in Montreal your first instinct is Moishes, but honestly Gibby’s is a better option. Nestled in a quaint 200-year old stone building in Old Montreal, your prayers for a great steak will be answered. They provide a variety of cuts, cooking options, and scrumptious sides for that yummy beef. My personal preference is a rare sirloin with a tasty Monte Carlo potato…delish! Wilensky’s 34 Fairmont Avenue The Wilensky’s special is a must-have here: a delectably grilled all-beef salami and bologna sandwich served with mustard which has been a top seller on the menu since their opening in 1932. When you order this sandwich, one must be aware that you NEVER ask to have it cut and it is ALWAYS served with mustard…Don’t go messing with the way it has always been done. At Wilensky’s you’ll feel welcomed from the minute you walk in the door and you’ll be asked when they’ll see you next. Magnan Restaurant and Taverne 2602 St-Patrick street Got a craving for succulent, melt in your mouth roast beef? If you are brave enough Magnan serves a Quebec classic: the pig knuckle platter…yes you read right… pig knuckles! Located south of the Atwater market, this family owned business has been in operation since 1932. Aside from the restaurant, Magnan’s has a butcher shop, pastry shop, and 3 full kitchens to provide quick service to its hungry patrons.
  18. Is the world going to be different if the Cubs win? It seems like it would somehow have a snowball effect in other aspects of my life. Like, I will no longer be able to order my coffee served hot or we will have to drive on the left side of the road or something. These arent possibilities are they?
  19. I know I am not the only one that has felt like the Cubs are destined to win this entire thing. We can look at the stats and what we think "should" happen all we want but if they are destined none of the stats even matter.
  20. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) OK, they have lost three in a row, but not more than 3. "How many times have the Indians lost three games in a row this season? This is relevant, of course. Seven different times during the 2016 regular season the Indians lost three games in row. Most recently, it happened on Aug. 25, as they lost to the Rangers after dropping two to the Athletics. Interestingly, the Indians this season never lost more than three games in a row at any point. Given the sprawl of baseball's calendar, that's highly impressive." Impressive maybe but means nothing in the context of tonights game.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) Yes, and whose logo is the downward arrow? Apparently many people somehow tie Guaranteed Rate's logo as the White Sox'. Maybe because its plastered all over their field. LOL DA it isnt life changing. You are mistaken when you think there is real public outrage of stuff like this, even if there is that is the fans right to be outraged if they choose to. Its just annoying and something to talk about when you are a fan of bad organization. You personally may not feel like the Sox are a bad org and agree with all of their decisions but that doesnt mean everyone else has to.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Since it is so horrible, can someone explain how Guaranteed Rate was able to build their business from the ground up with a logo with an arrow pointing down? The context of their business was that they want their customers to believe their rates will be low.
  23. Coley Harvey ESPN Staff Writer All of these people, lined up 10 hours before first pitch in Cleveland, will be disappointed to know no extra World Series tickets will be released today. Many are Cubs fans. Whah whah whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) What is the bad timing? It was announced in August that November 1 the name change takes place. When were they supposed to announce it, and why would anyone be embarrassed? You must embarrass easily. I could probably follow everyone around for an hour, and someone could do the same with me, and find several things you should probably be more embarrassed about than a name or an arrow on the ballpark of the team you follow. It's not like US Cellular Field was a classic. They aren't even in the Chicago market anymore. Who is embarrassed? Oh let me guess, everyone on soxtalk is embarrassed right? You once again globalize any negative thought towards the Sox on here. Here comes DA again riding on his downward pointing arrow decorated chariot to defend the Whitesox.
  25. When your team is going as the Sox have been the past few years all the negative things that happen sting a bit more. All the times stuff doesnt go our way, even if its small in the grand scheme, makes us feel more defeated than we probably should. This is just like everything else that has taken place recently with the Sox, its AWFUL timing. They definitely have the bad timing down to a science at this point, true experts in bad timing.
