So apparently the Michael Sneed Chicago Sun-Times column last month regarding the possibility of changing the logo wasn't true:

The Curbed Chicago website today has a quote from Linda Marsicano, Guaranteed Rate's VP of Public Relations:

Guaranteed Rate is really excited about this partnership – we are huge Chicago sports fans and we’re thrilled to be part of the White Sox family.

There had been a lot of speculation about whether the company would change its logo (we are not) or that the logo wouldn’t appear on signage at the ballpark due to the downward arrow (it will). The first signage is going up later today.

I guess the Sox wanted them to make the arrow home plate. It would be very similar, but they said no. People will get over it.

Here's a quote from Victor Ciardelli, CEO of Guaranteed Rate, appearing in the Chicago Tribune website today:

"We've had it for 16 years, and we're not going to change it," he said. The Sox "asked us if we'd change it, and we considered it and looked at different logos," but "felt it was important to keep it the way it was, as much as some fans disliked the down arrow."

"We wanted to be consistent with the corporate image and the name," he said.

I'm completely serious when I say that this is something (losing club, relatively cheap) that you'd see in a Hollywood film, it's that bad and cliche. Huge down arrow as you enter the stadium for a club that barely can draw 20K a night and win 80 games.

Can't. Wait.

I hate the overused phrase "how are the Optics" -- but let me wipe this lens clear: THE OPTICS f***ING SUCK.

that the owner let this happen just piles another steaming turd on the growing stack of evidence that says the Sox are a clueless, out of touch org.

"We don't really care what the fans think, we are trying to get our name out there, not actually care about what goes on with or around this team." - Is what it should have read.

shocking how out of touch they are.

What do you expect from an ownership team that has deteriorated this franchise into a small market ball club, with all of their awful decisions over their tenure.
