So after all that's been said the past couple days we still have no idea what's going on...

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) i have a major problem, that is i think too much and play all the angles. btw, nice post. last nite i was chewing over somethings that been bothering me. first, i believe it was mention from someone in the sox org, that JR wanted another WS before he passes and at that point the sox can be sold, how ever that statement was made. i can't exactly remember how it was said. what happen if the sox FO is maneuvering the way the sox are investing in FA's so if the sox can not win by 2 or 3 yrs, the sox will sell off the players ..... JA will be 1 yr from fa, the major contracts will have expired, the 2 or 3yrs is the end of life commitment for trying to get the team a WS..... and if, God Forbid, JR passes, the sox can be in a position to sell the team and max the money .... let the new owners deal with rebuilding and all that comes with it. the lack of really making the push for Gordon or Cespy.... has me thinking really out there .... it doesn't make sense on many fronts, i just can't put my finger on it. so maybe JR and the owners has this in mind and no other FO management. So the FO is getting their ducks in a row for JR's death?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) That wasn't hats on the table, that was surrounded by adoring, caring children who would get no money. The kids were wearing hats then? I know there were some hats, I remember hats.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) At this point, I'm just surprised Cespedes isn't deciding on live television with a Mets, Yankees, White Sox, Orioles and Nationals hat on the table This does feel sooo much like Lebron.

I really am not interested in any of the FA that are left after Cespedes. I would love to get one of the Colorado guys but like we have said before there isnt anything left to trade unless you want nothing left in an already weak farm system.
-
I think I am going to be butt-hurt until they make another move. I wasn't Cespedes biggest fan but the lineup clearly needs another impact bat to really be making strides in the right direction. You know what would be nice? If they started to draft position players as well as they draft pitchers. We wouldnt be hoping for the Sox to overpay for someone every off season if that happened.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) He was my 3rd choice of the top 3, but he is still the best guy out there. It won't kill me if they don't get him, but I would be pretty happy if the did. They need something. In my perfect world they would make a trade for an OF before Cespedes signs somewhere else. That would be nice.

Oops. Sorry, its been 8 minutes since the last post. I couldnt take it I had to post something.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) Even though no one cares...the authors of that paper are a former student of mine and a former professor of mine. And still I can't find a ****ng job. You will find a job. As well as you explain things to make it easy for anyone to understand is a pretty special gift. I am not even trying to blow smoke up your ass either. You have a gift that not many have.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Someone had to say it. Shipps is going around passing out condolence remarks like a funeral started Refreshments will be in the basement.

This is what Hahn was saying in an interview on December 17th 2015. That last part is kind of sticking with me. Lets see that aggressiveness here, of course unless it is just crazy $$$ with Cespedes right now. “We’d have to be a little bit creative,” Hahn said when asked if a “legit” run could be made at adding a right fielder. “We’d have to be financially creative in the way we get things done. We’ve been able to do that in the past. Obviously, you can never underestimate Jerry (Reinsdorf) and Kenny (Williams) and my own aggressiveness when it comes to a chance to get better. So we’re going to try to leave no stone unturned.”

This feels sorta like the time I got turned down...eventually by a girl I kind of liked...but during the anticipation I found a way to convince myself that I had strong feelings for the girl. It was all because I wanted the long shot to happen and when it didnt it was like devastating for no reason.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) It's all fishy isn't it? Not really. It seems like the Sox are out my friend.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) They have a Nancy's where I just moved. It's no Geno's but it's better than any other "deep dish" I've tried in Cali. Nancy's is good. I actually had them a couple nights ago.

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Was it Herb Lawrence? LOL it certainly was.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Eating Chicago style deep dish in California - hoping to send some voodoo into the universe. Whats up with that? Someone posted on FB a couple days ago they were eating some deep dish in Cali and said it tastes like Gino's East.

Here is the thing about Hahn. Last year, every move he wanted to do he got done. Yeah maybe luck but it did happen. Every move he seemingly wanted to do this off season he has gotten done. Cespedes has not yet signed with the Nats and Hahn seems to get his guy one way or another. So let's see until the contract is actually signed.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I don't get how anyone looks at that and thinks were out. That's lower aav than I expected. Yeah if the Sox weren't in that ballpark from the get go they were never in it then. I would think the Sox werent that naive about what the dollars were going to ultimately be to get him. I think with all the momentum nationally for Washington being serious in this they probably will get it done. If the tables were turned and it was the Sox that they were mentioning like that we would think the deal is in the bag.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Can you guys please copy/paste tweets onto here? Twitter is blocked on this current WiFi network. Heyman Nats are indeed in on cespedes. Would be interesting to see where he fits, and who may go. @Ken_Rosenthal 1st Heyman Nats never made offer to wei-yin Chen after showing interest. Perhaps they were saving for cespedes. Could see as value play

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) what board is that? http://www.wnff.net/

Looking at a Nat's message board and it seems like they are trying to figure out why and how Cespedes fits their team too. They seem like they are cool with it but not ecstatic, just confused LOL.

At the start of the off-season if you were to ask me if I would have wanted the Sox to make a huge investment on Cespedes I would have hesitated and maybe would have said no. Now after investing a lot of time on here and following the story everywhere I am wanting it to happen so badly for the wrong reasons. While I wont be mad if they do sign him I also believe that they are probably better off not having this guy in the long run. We will probably be regretting this move a year or two from now if it does happen.
