Personally, I believe this is all part of the Sox re-building program. getting Ozzie started the whole thing. This should be Franks last year, Valentin's last year, S- Alomar's last year, Maggs or Lee will go. They will probably keep Konerko this year and try to trade him again next year, but after that, he gone. So time to cut and re-build around Crede, Olivo, Reed, borchard. In the next two years, Thomas, valentin, lee, maggs, konerko, buerle, Alomar, Will all be gone.Why not get some good young players for these guys, re-build your farm, and kind of compete in a division that doesn't spend money. if they catch lightening in a bottle one day then add a solid veteran.

Actually I was talking about the farm system in general not who has made it to the bigs yet. I strongly feel that your chances are better if you have multiple years picking higher in the draft. If you are near the bottom of the league three or four years in a row then you are always picking high. I realize people have jobs and must do there work. I also realize that many players come from later rounds. My point is that you have a much better chance at getting better players if you suck. Jim, I think its easy for teams to build a great farm system if they are always near the bottom. Thye get to pick high every year. That's how the Cubs built there system.

Jim, As you know I love TEP, but have also been to Tempe. Its a nice park as well, and from a convienence sake better for the club. The travel sucked and quite frankly that park belonged to the D backs anyway. I have relatives 20 minutes from the Tempe park so very convienent for the spring. Anyway, my main question is where are the Angels going and why? Colon is a piece of s*** idiot. Jim, I agree, none of these are great picks to take us to the promise land. Cito Gaston is probably the most experienced out of all those but not a great crop. I really don't want Buddy Bell. He never proved anything to me as a player or a manager. I really wish there was a better crop of candidates. Ozzie doesn't excite me, he never did even as a player. I realize he was a white sox but he wasn't that great. Why are we always in dissarry? We need an org overhaul.

I agree, unless he's willing to take about 500K then get rid of him. I think for the first time ever in the offseason its pretty unanimous that the Sox need a change at shortstop. I thought about the same thing with Konerko, doesn't mean he is not trying. Leadoff could come from CF, 2b, shortstop depending if you resign alomar and or valentin. As far as rowand, I don't think he is that smart. The guy is a psycho, so that one I truly believe.

Ok, Can't prove this is true, I recently met a guy who works for the Sox. He does not work in the front office or the locker room. He claims to know many people, so who knows. He also claims to be on this board occasionally checking out posts. Ok here goes; He claims: KW is staying (despite NCORG's statements earlier this year) he also said KW is shopping Konerko right now. KW wants him gone. They will try to get a lead off hitter for him. Additionally he claims the SOX and Colon will come to an agreement. He claims Colon likes the city and wants to stay. He also said that Both Alomar (Robbie) and Valentin have claimed they will take a 50% paycut to stay, they just want multiple years instead of one year. Finally he claims that Ozzie Gullien is very popular with JR. Larussa is waiting to be the Yanks new Manager. Torre is out regardless. Torre will quit even if he wins the series. Wants to take some time off. Finally the Sox are pissed at Rowand right now. Apparently he was playing tackle football in the parking lot at the Bears game (Oakland game) and reinjured his shoulder again. I have no idea whether any of this is true. I do know he works for the Sox. That is true. As far as the rest of this, who knows. Could be hearsay and rumor, but what else do we have going right now.

Kip I would have used Koch, the reason is he has major league experieince and if you could get this guy right then he may be a useful asset on the championship team. Pana whatever has not pitched in the majors in two years. I don't beleive you bring a guy like that in a playoff run. He belongs on the spring training team. We need to get Koch right, that would have been a good spot. That is the only change, I agreed with going with the mop ups in that situation.
