I keep coming back to Sullivan for 2.5 million. I can't get over that.
-
Jim, John Rooney keeps bringing up the economy as a partial excuse. Can we use that as an excuse not to go to the games?
-
Plus they signed Sullivan today.
-
Dude, are you really going to the lantern? If so let me know we can continue this conversation there. What did the Sox offer Sullivan? 1 Million. The word is going to get out that we are cheap bastards. I don't get it. Sullivan made less than last year, and we were not even in the picture.I really don't get it.
-
Jim, did you see KC signed Sullivan - 2years 5 million, with an option for a third. Are you telling me we couldn't come up with that. My god. We are in serious s***.

I am listening Jim, Please no suppan, please

Oh my, I don't think this would be effective. LEts not do it this way folks. Its one thing to complain on the board but if your going to write to executives please write appropriatly. -
that would be me
-
yes That is what I said. Denny Hocking
-
Personally I think we will go after Freddie Garcia (seattle) for pitching, Denny Hocking for 2b, and another reliever (unknown) for the pen. That's it unless the Konerko trade happens. If someone offeres top prospects for Maggs we will also take that. Pure speculation on my part.
-
Rex I agree that other things can happen, as you pointed out though we cannot make mistakes with our money and or trades. I think we continue to make mistakes which is why getting Colon and or Alomar signed would be solidifying. It would provide stability to a new manager, provide a veteran presence and provide defense and pitching to a team that really had needed that the past few years. I am leary of how we spend our money in the point that it handcuffs us. We overpay the wrong people and trade for people we cannot sign.A rent aplayer here and there is nice but really the sox "rented" alot of their key players. It seems we are content to stay in the middle of rebuilding or solidifying. We have not picked one or the other. We are damn lucky this division sucks. In addition it appears that Maggs might be gone by this time next year. All of this adds up to doubt, and Rex I pony up alot of cash in order to deal with doubt. That is disturbing to me. I truly believe many older whitesox fans feel the same. Unlike the North Side where they go to games for several different reasons, sox fans remain passionate about Baseball, there players, and the opportunity. When the opportunity dissapears or we dog down the team to the talent level of the division, then fans realize the committment might not be the same as what we expect.

If we pay eddie then that means we won't be in the hunt for a big time free agent starter. It means we will go with mediorce starters and rely on the bullpen. Back that up with suspect defense and we are in for along year. The only good thing about this is we would take away a twin.
-
God we will have alot of draft picks, unless of course we sign other free agents, or we draft the guys and then not sign them. We have done that before. Furthermore, its not like we have the best drafting in the league. I would rather compete.
-
I don't want Brad Fullmer but I will take speizio, if we get rid of konerko. But knowing the SOx the Konerko thing will fall through. I think they will go after Garcia whom was cut loose by Seattle. it will be a long summer
-
Well even more disturbing is the fact that we lost Gordon, sullivan everett, a nd alomar. Now colon gone means the pitching is very thin. I just plain picked the wrong team to love.
-
This sucks again, Sullivan was very steady and one of the better middle relievers. KW better start doing something positive. Again If I am colon I am now looking at a average to below average middle infield. And now as it stands today a depleted middle relief core.

Why go anywhere but here!

Since I contributed to this ongoing thread I just have simple thoughts. 1) I think Harris sucks. He is a punch and judy hitter and is best fit in a utility and or pinch run mode. Just my opinion. 2) We won't go to the playoffs with this guy as your regular 2 baseman. He isn't long for the job. Just like Graf can't play everyday. 3) I want to win this division, I don't think that paying Robbie 1 million more will srew our chances and f*** up our entire payroll. That's it. No need to keep this alive.

I would be shocked if they offered Everett arbitration. They would need to come to terms with him by tommorrow becasue arbitration would be dumb.
-
Sometime I think Sox management floats ideas out to keep people interested. So many things would have to fall in place to get this to happen. 1) Kevin Brown would need to approve. Remember Boras is his agent 2) Maggs would need to be traded for Juan to come here. 3) Juan would need to want to come here. 4) koch and his salary would need to be traded. 5) Where would everett Play?Could we afford Juan and everett and lee and Buehrle and Brown and thomas all under 60 million. I think not. None of these things will happen. It makes great press though, keeps people interested in the whitesox.
-
amen, but here is the thing, I have spent 28,000 on tickets in the last three years. I went into each season thinking we would win the division. We did not. I didn't care about the park, put up with the Crap about Sox fans being the poor people, but I am not happy about this one at all. I know Alomar is on the downswing but Willie Harris? In his best year this guy is omar Moreno in his worst year.

they signed an exclusive deal with Comcast cable. starts in 2005, the whitesox, bulls, cubs and hawks are all part owners of the Tv Rights. Its on the sox website.
-
As I mentioned in other posts I beleive this has to do with the NEw TV contract that will take effect in 2005. They will ahve more money to spend then. THey defer some of the contract till then and when the money comes in they pay in 2005
-
This is a great board, we can all disagree and still get along. We disagree on this. 3 million is about right for robbie. Anyway, I think the whole deferral thing has to do with the Sox having the new cable outlet next year. They will have more $$$ in there pockets after this year.
