QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 07:21 PM) That's the problem with Getz...not playing. With our 2006 offense, no problem with him as the #9 hitter AT ALL. He does a lot of things well...but not one aspect of his game is "plus/plus" or a huge asset. All things considered, would still rather have Getz playing close to everyday than Josh Fields. i think when q comes back getz and nix will platoon in the 9 spot on this roster and that combo will definately not be a negative for the team due to their defense

great pick by getz

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Hopefully Alexei stays with the low laserbeam throws to first. just like that one. Guillen I dont get b/c he embarasses him publicly but then indicates there's no chance of him being moved away from SS. Or at least for sure not to CF. I dont get it. i think he just wants him to pay attention on the easy plays cuz he can make some incredible plays that most other ss's cant

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Yep, and the 4th inning is shaping up to be tough for Gavin. or is it?

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) Was that Pods strikeout pitch as far outside as Gametracker made it look? it was outside, close but def outside he was running up on it, i wonder if that can throw off the umps at all cuz it looked like the one he called a ball before was a strike

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Been a really disappointing year for rookies in both leagues. a lot of the best ones started in the minors thanks to the arb clock, beckham hanson price and wieters will probably be the cream of this years crop

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Right now Rick Porcello is sitting on about 10 wins and has been key to the Tigers being in 1st. He could fall off in the 2nd half but he's the clear front runner. oh ya forgot about him

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) Oh DW, keep impressing me! great play by wise, what was choo doing though?
-
looked like he avoided the tag on that slide but the ball beat him by plenty
-
I know its probably silly and kool-aid sipping but who are the leaders for rookie of the year in the AL. Does beckham have a shot given his propensity for driving in runs
-
its disorienting when people change their avatars attaboy getz
-
It might be smoke and mirrors, but pods is one of the best ive seen at giving his team a 1-0 lead in the first
-
the ultimate coop can fix him could be mark prior. how sweet would it be if he could recapture something close to his old form on the south side of chicago. its probably not likely but if we can get him as another one of those low risk contracts if might be worth it

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) If you do go the player profile route, for each player don't just tell us stats. Tell us the player's talents and weaknesses. When I'm trying to learn about our system, I want to know how hard the guy is throwing and what his offspeeds are. If a guy is raking I want to know if he can field or if he has more power potential, etc. I usually look for that type of thing in the AAPs here, but oftentimes its just statistics. i agree with this, i try to update my aap page when i can but i dont know much more than his stats, if theres a way to find out more about the guys that would add a completely new and awesome dimension to futuresox which is already pretty sweet jpn's reports and the interviews are both steps towards this so kudos for that

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Nah, f*** rookie ball. Most of these guys won't even make it to AA. except for upchurch!!

Tyler has been selected to play in the MLB Futures game in St. Louis on July 12th. He and Dayan Viciedo are the two sox representatives in the game. Flowers will be on the United States team. It is great to see Tylers great season be recognized by what i consider the most important minor league all star game. If you want to watch Tyler and Dayan in action the game will be t 1pm Central on July 12th on ESPN2. congrats tyler (dayan cant drink yet)
