Whoever of the two is playing better at the time should get the playing time, with Beckham playing the other spot. I believe Viciedo is still at least 1 year away, and if Fields doesn't pan out (which I doubt he will), I wouldn't mind going with Scott Rolen for a year at 3B.

I'm pretty sure GM's don't make trades based on players rankings in BA's top 100 prospects and the grades John Sickels gives them. No one in their right mind would trade Aaron Poreda for Gorksy Hernandez.

Anthony Rendon is gonna be a top 5 pick in 2011. The guy can rake. Batting almost .400 in his freshman year with 21 homers!

Flowers 2-2 with 2 doubles. Danks 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI.

If he could turn into a Josh Bard type of player, that'd be fine. A very solid, defensive minded C. After the past couple of years, I've realized that good catchers are one of the toughest positions to find good players. If it was up to me, I'd be drafting at least 1 catcher in the first 10 rounds every year. If you can find one that can hit and field, you basically won the lottery. And since the only real catching prospect we have is Flowers, and it's unclear if he'll play C in the pros, I wouldn't be oppossed to drafting around 3 catchers this year in the first 10 rounds.

Apparently Seastrunk calls the games as well... very impressive considering this is his first time catching. Looks like he's got the raw tools to be really good behind the plate too. I hope we nab this guy between rounds 3-5.

I hope we see College Baseball grow in popularity. It'd be nice if the CWS became a bigger event than it is now.

I got a better question... why was the top prospect they traded for, Gorksy Hernandez, a CF? Wasn't the whole point of trading McLouth to open up space for McCutchen? I call it incompetence on the part on the Pirates. They already have 2 guys that can play CF, so they trade away their best player and a fan favorite for another CF? I think the fact they didn't move McLouth to RF shows incompetence on their part. However, if I had to guess, they view Tabata as their future right fielder... but he won't be ready for at least another year. Also, the whole timing of the deal was stupid. If they waited another month, I guarantee they could have gotten a better package.

Where was Joe Buck today, I thought he was always teamed up with McCarver? I can't stand either of them, but I like Thom Brennaman. Fox needs to go through a complete overhaul of all their announcers and hosts though. Most of them are terrible.

Was Todd Helton a steroid user? If you look at the stats, his HR totals declined big time after 04 (when PED testing first got some-what serious). Plus, after 04, he started to suffer from various injuries... However, his HR numbers really began to drop after 2001 when they started using the humidor for the balls.
