Nice pitch.

Anybody see AJ's hops?
-
He's good.
-
Mauer is just too big & lanky to be a good catcher. Don't know how he does it... But he does.
-
An insurance run or 10 would be nice.
-
Big hook!
-
I just feel Jenks'll get it.
-
Well, that's encouraging.
-
Hawk, yes it was 1 play. Followed by lots of bad pitches. Lots.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) Seriously? You don't know? We aren't playing AAA teams anymore. Braves >> Royals.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Why did this team go back to suck? My thought exactly.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Pretty sure Ozzie just said go f*** yourself a couple of times to Nelson. Might be easier to read Ozzie's lips than to understand him when he talks. Maybe I'll turn the volume off during his interviews.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) That double play looked so slow and surprised we got it, and it was by a step. I hate not having it on TV. -

Game not on TV in Colorado Springs. Farmer & DJ say Thornton looks uncomfortable. -
Loving it, but waiting for reality to return. Man, it'd be horrible for to happen against the... Nah. Won't go there.

Ugly at bat. Even ahead in the count, just looked like he'd rather be anywhere else. -
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) Q has been so hard to understand and figure out. He would have been the AL MVP if not for that injury in 2008. How many former MVP's or near MVP's have fallen so far and so fast just 2 years after the fact? I can't come up with anyone off the top of my head. His injury could be to blame for a good deal of it, but how many guys with wrist injuries can still hit the ball out of the park like he does? It is his inability to hit linedrives and he is hitting too many flyballs. 50% flyballs in fact, that number is outrageuously high. It tells you all he is trying to do is hit the ball out of the park and not try to hit screaming linedrives back up the middle. His BABIP is a horrific .197, so it suggests some bad luck, but if you hit the ball in the air 50% of the time, it better find the seats or the wall. Time for Q to take a new approach and go right back up the middle and go from there. I was going to write the same thing. You did it first and better.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) How the hell would Gordon playing SS help his offense? And why would you move Alexei from SS, a position that's he's been above average at for the last year+, to 2B? Makes no sense at all. It seems pretty common that an error in the field gets carried to the plate in a lack of confidence and concentration. In reverse, I do believe that the terrible plate performance for Beckham has led to lower confidence in general, some decreased concentration, and a sense of desperation that leads to pressure, all of which make him less effective in the field. As far as moving Ramirez, he has played well most of the time at SS (with the occasional bone-headed mistake), but he's certainly not been anything special. As a rookie at 2B, he was special. Certainly, we are all speculating here and nobody knows what will work or won't, and, again, we will never know on this one, but I am not willing to concede that it "Makes no sense at all."

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Beckham has 7 errors at 2b. He'd probably have 12-13 if he played SS. Maybe. First, I believe that Beckham has played his entire life, until coming to Chicago, at SS. The comfort level, I think, would be greater at his more natural position. Second, Ramirez has his errors at SS too, though I have not looked them up (lazy) and he was brilliant at 2B. Third, I do think that, particularly in younger players, the level of comfort in the field does show up at the plate. Finally, I do think that it could be useful just to shake things up a bit. It is not going well now, certainly. Of course, we'll never know.

I know that every one that could have an influence on this has said that it won't happen, but I STILL think it'd be an improvement defensively and stir the pot offensively if Alexei and Gordon swapped positions. I know it's been discussed here ad nauseum, but I couldn't stand to go through this thread without at least mentioning it.
