QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) They moved Viciedo to 1st base at the end of the season in AA. That should tell you their thoughts. I did not know that. Thanks for the info. I think it is the right move.

In Colorado, so have to watch via DirecTV. Seattle announcers. Used the word "penultimate." Justifiably going on & on about Ichiro.

We can, though, count on our super-explosive offense to outscore them though.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Like when you realize you've hit the snooze alarm one too many times. Great analogy. Nice game for our new catcher.

I guess the Sox badness is contagious. Hairston caught it.

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) Or not. Anyone else pissed off that we're playing 4 innings more than we should have played? f***ing Pena. f***ing Ozzie I should say. He's made some really stupid decisions tonight, again. Yes, Peña was horrible, but scoring only 3 runs is worse. Shouldn't have been close.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) I think PK was hit on purpose to get to Dye. Yep. Smart baseball, but I just hate it. Too bad we're not officially mathematically eliminated. If we were, I'd suggest plunkng an A... Maybe do it anyway. Nah.

9/8 Oakland at White Sox 7:11 on CSN+
QUOTE (chisoxt @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) True, but I don't want to count on him next year..Needs more seasoning... I think this kind of low pressure opportunity to face MLB batters will help him. I agree that he needs more seasoning, but he seems to have the pitches with movement. He'll get shelled on the nights when the movement's not there. We'll have to see how he handles that. Maybe mop up duty to start 2010. Might be good to have him here with Coop &, again, facing the best Hitters.

Ernie Harwell has terminal cancer.
DETROIT -- Longtime broadcaster Ernie Harwell, who spent 42 of his 55 years as a broadcaster calling Detroit Tigers games, has been diagnosed with incurable cancer. The 91-year-old Harwell, who was in the Tigers' broadcast booth from 1960 until he retired in 2002, remains upbeat after an inoperable tumor was found in the area of the bile duct. Harwell was given a prognosis of one year, but said that doesn't get him down. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/20721938/detail.html I'm 49 and it just seems that we're losing more and more of the people with whom I grew up. I guess that's a lesson for me. I've always been a White Sox fan (My dad grew up right by the park and I grew up in Rockford.), but have heard Ernie many times "back in the day." That generation of broadcasters was special. They could take me to the game with words alone. I always knew where Ernie's heart was, with the Tigers, but he never made it painful for other fans. Many of today's announcers could learn a bit. He's already missed from Tigers broadcasts and will be missed from this world. I, personally, hope and pray that things go as well as possible for him and for his friends and family.

GAME THREAD: Sox (63-61) @ Sawx (70-53), 6:10pm CT
Yes, he's trying hard and intense. He may still have some foot pain, but seems to run OK in the field and on the bases (when he has the opportunity). He is not without passion as many White Sox are. Results, however, are lacking.
