  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) Amen. For the information age, people as a whole are more stupid then ever before. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) I disagree and I'll tell you why. But first let me get back to this Jerry Springer episode. Pure comedic gold.

  3. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) In this order: NY Yankees Boston Red Sox Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California, United States, North America, Western Hemisphere, Earth Chicago Cubs good list.
  4. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) San Antonio would only work if a stadium was built between there and Austin. Like New Braunfels or San Marcos. But I don't think Tom Hicks and Drayton McClane will allow it. I think Portland is probably the best bet outside of Fremont. I think the drive from Austin to SA wouldn't stop fans. Put the stadium on the north side and they would be fine. I don't think they need to go all the way to San Marcos. Maybe near the outlet malls?

Sometimes the margin of difference is so small, it doesn't matter.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) Lovin' Spoonful Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart How the music can free her, whenever it starts And it's magic, if the music is groovy It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll Next: fire Car;y Simon's ex-husband I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days I thought would never end Topic: Ocean

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) I actually thought he meant Bush I having been VP for 8 years, then Prez. I was thinking both when Kap mentioned it. I never thought about how much access he had to the President(s), for so long. Perhaps the most influential non_president ever. 16 years of being able to pick up the phone and clearly listened to and respected, then another 4 as President. That's a pretty amazing run.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) Both. I'm not kidding, either. So you accept she has Presidential experience because she was First Lady? I've rejected it, I just didn't see her sitting in with the Pentagon, etc. I put her and Nancy, Barbara, Rosaline, in about the same position. There was some early window dressing, but in the end, she was a First Lady.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) It's a LOT different. The father-son thing is totally different then the same exact people running the country again. So you think Hillary would just allow Bill to run the country, or was Hillary running the country back then?
  11. Interesting.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Other Presidents don't find a backdoor way BACK into the office 8 years later. Really?

I wonder how this went for other Presidents.
  15. illigrant 2 thumbs up Someone who enters the country illegally, but is eventually allowed to stay. Kap was worried when everyone found out he was an illigrant. But after being here for twenty years, no one cared he entered the country illegally.

Do they have the political smarts, or can obtain it, to be thinking, we play nice for a year, the US leaves, then we can get back to fighting with each other?
  17. It's show time. The biggest agent on sports with a certain HoF player about to hit his prime. It will be a record contract, there are only a couple teams that could swallow it. Grab the popcorn, lock up your wallet, this is going to be fun. Plus, he's someone that could legit play in either league without much of a drop off. With Boras as an agent, factors like playing in the AL with the DH at the end of his career will not come into play. It's like knowing tomorrow's lotto numbers.
  18. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) why do you think this, in general. The gambling aspect? Teams survive on the hometown fanatics. Vegas is too much tourism. San Antonio has done well in supporting the Spurs, through thick and slightly less thick. I'm not certain about the San Antonio / McAllen reference. McAllen is 4 hours from San Antonio and I'm not certain how that would fit in.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:11 AM) All hyperbole and other assorted crap aside, I sure hope so. I really hope that they are going to be able to stand up on their own soon. I've always believe the quickest way out of this, is by actually completing the mission, whatever the hell that is. That is the only option that both parties will agree on. Once we can't do anymore, we're outta there. Now if we could just define what our mission is.
  20. I don't think he is pissing on the system by using the system.
  21. We should pretty much bar anyone whose name and face recognition comes from being on a TV show. I assumed that the bar was once he got on a ballot. Certainly the laws have to be reasonably clear on this. Wasn't Thompson bumping up against a deadline for declaring, something about his exploratory committee being in place for too long without declaring? Apply the law, we'd all learn something. The other issue is it is the primary, perhaps if he spurs people to actually register and vote for the first time, some may believe that is a good thing. I prefer if y'all stay home and let me run things.

  23. I think once he got on a ballot, he's in all the way and you have to hold him to the same standards as the other candidates. It is almost unimaginable, but what if he showed strong in that state?

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 07:08 AM) Those in government don't seem to grasp that. Not enough money? Don't bother cutting costs or increasing efficiency, just raise taxes! That's the solution to all of the county's/state's/country's problems! Except on the Federal level, you cut taxes when you can't pay for everything!!

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) TEMPORARY increase? Sure, and then it becomes a permanent increase. The government, whoever is in power, hates to give back money that isn't thiers to begin with. \ Fixed and I agree.
