Cedric Benson and Rex Grossman both suck
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Yes, let's ignore Grossman's career 69.3 QB ratings vs. Brian Greise's career 84.5. IDENTICAL. Here's a combo to unlock this mystery 97-79-62

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 08:42 AM) What the hell happened to personal responsibility in this country? Seriously. I can ask that question on about every subject that the Democrats want to "take care of us" on. When did we ever have personal responsibility for our retirement? We had company pensions and retirement benefits and people worked for these companies all their lives. You certainly are old enough to remember your grandparent's careers. And how many Enrons are out there? People who invested for their retirement and then found the companies had not financed the plans properly? But conservatives like to ignore that stuff. I'm all for personal responsibility in this, but conservatives like to think every investment is beautiful and pure. Some HS degreed service industry employee will suddenly become Warren Buffett with their retirements. Of course with all the old money republican companies on Wall Street looking to make a killing, it's the GOP saying, we'll take care of you, for a fee

A Little Help PLease, Probably from the college crowd
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 07:00 AM) More people die in car accidents due to talking on their cell phone, reading, playing with their ipods, or looking at their TV while driving. Perhaps we should prohibit cell phones, books, music players, and navigation systems. Allow me to rephrase my comment. If you think no one died from mj this year, that it was not a contributing factor in any deaths, I don't believe it. Hell, even drinking too much water killed someone this year. But y'all keep thinking that mj is the only mood altering substance that was not responsible for anything bad happening.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) OMG. Please stop it. You are not that uneducated. A couple generations ago people counted on their company pensions. Who has one now?? Does anyone here have a company pension? My Dad is retired on two of them. My grandmother retired with her Sears benefits. Do you think Sears still has a pension plan?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 08:12 AM) I'd love to see SS phased out. There is no way it happens, so there is no real point in even dreaming about it. Its on my list of government programs I could do without. Also it would basically take a collapse of the US government before SS wouldn't get paid out. It isn't really much of a risk in reality. SS replaced the previous rock solid retirement plans. Pensions from companies like GM. Pensions from Unions.- Amenenawhatshisname in NYC.
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) Yea, 'cause we're so serious about this. we're?- GM on strike
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 07:59 AM) How many less cars are they selling? The irony is that GM is going to look like the evil corporation here, but this is a by-product of people not buying American cars anymore. If people are going to buy Japanese cars, then expect American car companies to layoff employees. With the costs of legacy employees and their current employees, they aren't going to be able to compete with the Japanese on price or quality. They are too busy putting $1500 a car into health care that could be going into R&D. GM is too busy trying to decide how to fund $51 billion in unfunded future pension costs... a cost Toyota even with their record profits, doesn't face. If we aren't going to buy American, don't be surprised when American companies cut costs, IE workers. Exactly. It hearkens back to the day when a person could work for a company all his life, be taken care of with health insurance and a pension. They would buy a little house in the suburbs, send their kids to school and life the middle class dream. That is dead! Doesn't happen anymore. Which probably is why we have these stresses on government programs. GM should have a few executives making $$$$ and a bunch of minimum wage guys running around who get replaced every couple of years when they want raises. I know some businesses that are leery of letting a minimum wage guy ruin a $10,000,000 CNC, but even repairs are cheaper than these guys making huge money in these jobs. Now I know why some law makers think they can tax $75,000 a year workers harder. Look how outraged people are here at these salaries. Send those jobs to Mexico where they belong. If these guys can't be happy making $20,000 a year, there are workers across the river from me that will be. And then, finally, the American car makers can compete.- Amenenawhatshisname in NYC.
Where does it say that in the pictures?- Amenenawhatshisname in NYC.
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Here is an example of some of their womens rights. And this is why he doesn't believe that Iran has any gay people. First one look like a photoshop job. If they were strapped to a gurney and given lethal injection would you feel better? This is one reason I am against capital punishment, how can we get all righteous when we kill people all the time?- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) So we just got our last electric bill for the month and its just under 70 bucks. The three us of are now trying to live in relative darkness, cause we're all cheap as f***. $70 per? or $70 total? My last one was $150 for my apartment. My house was running $350. Everything here is electric, no gas at all. Water heater, dryer, stove, furnance, air con, all run on electric.- A Little Help PLease, Probably from the college crowd
So no high drivers killing themselves or others? I have a hard time believing that. No one getting high and drowning? Falling? etc. I have a hard time believing that.- GM on strike
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) And that's the key that Tex doesn't want to talk about. Really, I said they were worth minimum wage, what don't I want to talk about? Many of those guys are operating equipment worth millions of dollars, in the past that equipment took some skill to operate, now it doesn't. The middle class is dying for guys like this. Too bad. Either get an MBA or adjust to a smaller pay check. Sell the house, keep your car longer, send your kids to a public school, perhaps on financial aid. My economy improves when these jobs are moved to Mexico where they belong.- GM on strike
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) That would be my perfect excuse to run away. But you wouldn't care if you were overpaid for years? I'm certain the mortgage companies in Detroit would not mind if a few thousand workers defaulted. They would also be forced to buy cheaper foreign cars- Bushie: Mrs. Clinton will win primaries
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) Things looked like this in 2004 too - still plenty of time till January. Plus look at the polls in the key early Primaries - Iowa is a dead heat between the three big names, and NH is pretty close too. I still think that Clinton's high negatives mean that the party will try to give other candidates every possible edge, because I think Hillary is the least electable at the general level. yep, which is why the GOP radio network pushes so far for her to be the front runner. Media bias at it's worse.- Scouts Missing ~ Found
From one of my other lists- GM on strike
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Does it take $30+ an hour plus pension plus paid health care to screw on a f***ing bolt or push a button? No, it takes minimum hour employees. What we need to do is realize a large middle class is a joke and get past it. We do not have that many middle class jobs anymore. Minimum wage jobs and executives, that's what it takes in America And it does take $4,807 per hour to run the company. Take a dump and make $1,200, that's the way to do it.- Cedric Benson and Rex Grossman both suck
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) I don't think anyone is expecting Griese to be pro bowl caliber but he's better than Rex who is probably the worst starting qb in the league right now. And he will be replaced by a QB who will be about the same ranking in the league. It isn't like there is a huge difference. Just a different jersey to throw a shoe at and scream "you are an idiot . . ." But sometimes that's fun.- Official College Football Thread
