what place will the sox finish in?
Smart, unbiased baseball experts could place this team anywhere from 1-4 and have some pretty damn good reasons. It's all in the ifs, and which ifs will fall in place for which team. For me, it's enough to know the team has the talent to win the division, many, many years, I knew before they left Spring Training the season was over. Weather and the other team drove which games I wanted to see. There are question marks on every roster, in every rotation. I think character and desire plays a huge role. I like the character of most of the players on this roster. So, allow me to answer the question this way with the percentage of confidence I have in the team finishing in each place. 5th Place or better 100% 4th Place of better 100% 3rd Place or better 99% 2nd Place or better 80% 1st Place 51% It will be another great baseball season.

New leadership?
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) I actually am OK with politicians at that level making a career of it, if they are effective. People make the military or other government work a career. Why not them? But it staggers me that neither party can put together the momentum to take the high ground here. The Dems started strong on the first few things they did in Congress, but have since gone back to being what we all hate. If one party's leadership stood up and dropped the hammer on the scumbags around them, and stopped this pork barrel B.S., I'd think that would be a huge PR move that could help them at the polls (as long as it was properly marketed after the fact). Actually that is only partially right. When we demand better from our own parties, it will happen faster. Look at the threads here, this is a fair example but there are better. The GOPerheads are attacking the Dems for doing the same thing the Reps have done, and some of the Demheads are defending and trying to draw distinctions. What needs to happen, is Dems to stand up, write the Dem leadership and tell them if the party doesn't fix itself the party should not expect their continued support. If the GOP does the same thing, we can clean this up faster than each side defending the indefensible.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 01:48 AM) I bought a 20 OZ box of Cheerios and a gallon of skim milk from Jewel today for a total of 4 bucks. To even think of going to a place like that every morning you either have to be insanely lazy or have way too tight a schedule. I bought a dozen eggs, some bacon, and some potatoes from HEB today for a total of about $10. I can make about 6 meals. any one thinking of going to Denny's is insanely lazy. Down here the grab and go choice is a breakfast taco, they are everywhere. Other areas a bagel or donut. This seems like a decent alternative. I also noticed the c-stores here have cereal in cups for about a buck, add a pint of milk, and you are set.

New leadership?
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 08:05 AM) Ye, because when the Dems do something "unethical", it's for a better justification then when the evil Republicans do it. It's always different ™. And it's always the same with Republicans, just let it happen, never investigate, leave them in office, (if it's a Republican).

Teachers ban Legos to teach a message
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) I guess I prefer the oppresive and unfair capitialist system, versus penalizing the smart, talented, hardworkers, go getters, etc. There is a big difference between helping your neighbor and having the government just take it anyways. I like the freedom aspect, but I guess that is just me. Nice twist on teaching kids to share.

Teachers ban Legos to teach a message
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) I think that I am most upset that it seems to be OK to teach socialism, but not Christianity. Does sharing and cooperation equal socialism? Where does teaching kids to share cross over into socialism? "Damn Socialist! My kid got all the cool pieces fair and square, now give them back to him right now!" How could you stomach a lesson from John 21:15?

Teachers ban Legos to teach a message
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) Nice word twist BTW. Twist? It's a direct quote. From reading the article, class based seemed to be a key element that they tried to isolate and redirect. And if you really want to point out twists, how about the thead title? QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) I don't think anyone here favors a class-based system, but these teachers view capitalism as a class-based, unfair, unjust, corrupt, and evil system. They aren't looking for any middle ground, just to show the kids how wrong power, control, and private ownership are. I guess we disagree. I was reading how they tried to isolate and redirect key behaviors. I'd be more upset that these kids became subjects in a psychological experiment probably without their parents permission. Maybe it's too many Psychology classes and reading too many studies like this.

Teachers ban Legos to teach a message
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) "assumptions that mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society — a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive" is NOT a middle ground. So you favor a class-based system? Tell me how that would work.

House passes Iraq Withdrawal bill
Just a minor thing, they are soldiers not Troops. 3,200 American soldiers have died. Humans with moms and dads and kids and dreams. When did we start calling them troops? Is nuke a troop?

House passes Iraq Withdrawal bill
Couple things. 1. I would probably have voted with the GOP on this one. I don't like the idea of a deadline. I don't have a better alternative, but this just doesn't feel right. 2. I wish those items above would receive more publicity. Not everything in Washington is along party lines, there is some common sense that gets passed around.

Sisco and Aardsma Complete Bullpen
The entire White Sox organization would like to thank those posters that have tried galantely to distract fans from the obvious. Their b****ing and whining towards each other is effectively keeping them from b****ing and whining at our incredibly stupid roster moves. Inside joke: we had never seen an 0.0 ERA and thought it was bad, not good. Go figure. Sincerely, JR, KW, OG and a cast of dozens

Happy Birthday Mr. Soon to be a MBA. In case everyone doesn't know, Kap is the server god around here. We run on his server, he does the behind the scenes stuff when Jas f***s things up. He's a great guy to have a beer with, but like most guys here, his wife is infinitely more interesting and better looking and his daughter has a better grasp of politics. And he shares a birthday with my daughter who is celebrating her Sweet 16 today.

I wish I had thought of this. http://www.cereality.com/main.php OK, I smell Kramer in this. The wacky, off beat Kramer, not the racist spewing Kramer. I fell asleep at 7:00 pm from pure exhaustion and woke up at 10:00 pm and can not fall back asleep. This wine is very wonderful. I was tasting the "oak nuances" about an hour ago, now I'm just tasting the "I love you man" of the alcohol content. But seriously, a f***ing cereal bar in the morning, isn't that the coolest? The pretentious "cerealologist" crap can go, but it beats the breakfast taco I currently grab.
