  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 08:04 AM) No, I think most of the conservatives quit having this conversation, because no one was listening anyways, which is why your "questions" haven't been getting answered. First asked about 50 posts ago. Leading conservative environmentalists? Which is better, follow Goracles example or his message? Are conservatives 100% happy with the environment? Air and water clean enough? How is Goracles message harming the environment? So far it seems the GOP's position on the environment is everything is ok, keep using oil, coil, etc. and discrediting anyone who preaches conservation, alternate fuels, and especially talks about climate changes. I'm wondering what energy gobbling devices that the Goracle installed to boost his energy consumption.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 06:24 AM) Unrealized value is also found in a team that is drawing about 1/3 of capacity, not selling nearly as much advertising as possible, doesn't have as big of a TV contract as possible etc. You gotta get people interested in the product, no matter how good the place is to see it. No one sees games in Pittsburgh anymore. With near perfect management, which team could realize greater profitability, the Cubs or Pirates? I'm thinking merchandising, ticket sales, everything.
  3. Since the usual suspects here could not find a conservative who was also a environmentalist, I went looking. I am alarmed that something as basic as our air, water, and energy production and usage has been hijacked on both sides for political gain. The left: do everything to save the environment, we need to save ourselves from ourselves (and Republicans). Make the problem seem worse to get their attention and action. The right: consumption is fine, burn it, strip mine it, drill it, this is all a ploy by the Dems to get votes. Discredit anyone who disagrees, and use that oil! The truth is somewhere in the middle. Over my lifetime we have made tremendous strides in cleaning our environment. Just look at the Chicago river. From a terribly polluted waterway to something that can be used for recreation. Smokestacks at factories are not billowing poisons into our lungs as badly as before. But Dems are going to have to take a more realistic approach to how bad the situation is and the solutions and Reps are going to have to admit that there are still problems and challenges that confront us. Since when does every issue have to be contested?
  4. Duh. I didn't think it needed empirical data. Of course this is more a commentary about catering to an audience. There are good reasons in some forums, even here, to ban the use of s*** piss f*** c*** cocksucker motherf***er tits
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) so if my future kids cant stop hiccuping, I'm supposed to stick my finger up its butt. Isn't that against the law? "But officer, I was only trying to stop the hiccups!" My avatar can kick your avatars ass!
  6. I am a little surprised that hockey hasn't been mentioned. With line changes being so important to the game.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) When I worked for the airline I worked for, I rode in the cockpit on several flights. That gives you a whole different perspective on a jumbo-jet, let me tell you. You see things you wish you didn't see... . So Kap you met Captain Oveur, have you ever seen a grown man naked?
  8. You have to expect that at your age!
  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) I'm off my game I guess. You have to expect that at your age . . .
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Then why didn't you give us a Flaxx like response of Boy that sound ruff!
  11. He bought the team that was available. An alternate theory would have him buying a team that seemingly could never win a world series and do it with them, cementing him permanently in the annals of history. You are seeing his next team as a business venture, I believe he'd be smelling history and it is more breathtaking and heady winning with the Cubs v. winning one with the Pirates. But the Pirates and the home town angle is excellent as well. So I guess I am saying he'll buy the team that is available and makes sense in some area when he's primed to do so.
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) This sounds bad, but Santo won't get in until hes dead. just my thought Sounding even worse, let me add, it depends on how soon he dies. The Veterans Committee are validating the writers votes through the years. I laugh at the whole concept of first ballot HoF or second, etc. It's not like they are still hittin' home runs or racking up Ks.
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) Add me to the list of those disappointed by this decision. Hard to claim any moral high ground on the congressional corruption issue if you pull cr@p like this, Nancy. Mega Dittos Jim
  14. Tex's Sports Poll of the day. I'm thinking this could be a little more varied. I'm thinking football.
  15. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) obviously you are not a scientist like Balta, if you were you would realize the mighty Goracle can not be housed in a simple 8 room / 3 bath home. He must dwell in a energy devouring mansion. no less then 20 rooms, AC on 24/7. And one mansion will not do, 2 is a must else his life force weakens. So you see, his mass energy use is not hypocritical at all. He is a true enviromentalist, a prophet, a savior. Interesting. Are you saying that it is wrong for people to be successful and own a bigger home? BTW, does he deserve any kudos for having his office in his home, instead of driving to an office? BALTA, at least here in south Texas, almost every home is 100% electric. Not many areas that have natural gas. What little gas usage here is propane tanks. Just wondering, are there any leading Republicans involved in any environmental issues? Is there any facet of our environment that Republicans think need improving? Are they 100% happy with how clean our air is? How clean our water is? The so called "Superfund Sites" are getting cleaned up fast enough? We have good long term storage for our spent nuclear materials? Someone tell me, if we followed the advice in this movie, how would our children suffer? How would it be better for future generations if we ignore Goracles message?
  16. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 07:47 PM) I don't understand... who is the company, who thinks they are villains and why? The highest visibility company is Walmart. Their Human Resource groups do a great job of letting their employees know about educational opportunities through grants, loans, etc. They help with finding child care programs, medical, dental, and vision programs, etc. The same stuff that Lesko will sell you in a book. All these programs are designed to help bridge people from public aid to fully independent. They help the "caught in the middle" workers who were sometimes better off not working, in the sense they had handouts. Many people blame the companies that publicize these programs for not just providing those benefits. In a nutshell. don't provide those benefits, but tell you employees about the government programs they qualify for, bad. Don't provide those benefits and don't tell your employees, good.
  17. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Illegal immigrants are particularly skilled at digging under, climbing over, and cutting through all types of fences. Hence, the lower than expect incarceration rate. Actually knowing that an arrest will usually lead to a US Government all-expensed paid trip back home, has them not committing crimes and not reporting any as well. They are usually victims far more often then not.
  18. I was involved in a project down here regarding child care for working families. The myriad of different programs and paperwork was daunting and impossible for me to follow. You lose one set of eligibility when your income raises, but other programs kick in. I can't understand how someone with a 6th grade education and limited reading skills could ever get it right. Then when a company does step in and help its workers to qualify and receive all the benefits that we try and provide the working poor, they are called villains.
  19. So no one mentioned leading GOP environmentalist. Al Gore Exxon BTW, anyone find any stats that his home, uses more energy than others of that size? Anyone find any stats on comparing his home to the average Americans who have two home offices in it? I love how some people like to compare the "Average American" and their usage to someone living in a larger home with two offices. And I thought the GOP was about rewarding people who have made a success of themselves.

    I Need Balta!

Take it out to sea and dump it.
  21. I wonder to prove their retardation how many times they posted here?
  22. This morning I received a visit from some friends here in Texas. Al Gore is wrong. Long Live OIL!! In Exxon we Trust! Al Gore Exxon There is nothing we can do to hurt the environment. The environment is a tool used by liberals to win votes. Al Gore and this liberal hypocrisy must be stopped at all costs. Oil!! Coal!! And Al Sharpton is the biggest liberal hypocrite. His family was so tight with Thurgood Marshall's they were even living together.
