QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) That's why we have charitible organizations. Its comical to me how freekin stupid people in the 3d world are. They keep on popping out children with no way to feed, clothe or educate them and then the bleeding hearts here whine about how horrible it is that children are living in squalor. No sympathy here for the idiots of the world. If you want to assign blame for the plight of these people it isin't because we dont have a global welfare state funded by U.S. taxpayers, its because of stupid people breeding. Yet, if somone was evoking capital punishment and killing a thousand adults, we'd open the checkbook for billions and billions of dollars, send thousands of soldiers off to die. And conservatives are against birth control, it's against God's will.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 06:18 AM) 4 degrees is really, really cold. No. Four Degrees is the finest rock band to come out of Omaha Nebraska

I've used them for a couple projects. Worked fine for me. But, you pay for their service in the prices they charge. The same t-shirts I can have my local screen printer make for $6 they charge double that but handle the production and administration. There is a tradeoff that makes sense at times, other times not.

I markedup about twenty bills a couple years ago and after months without a hit, I stopped looking. I have used bookcrossing.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) Of course, all those highly informed Americans had to learn about global warming without any help from the administration. The ongoing broad and blatant political interferance to squelch the science and intimidate the scientists is unethical and repugnant. All this and more at the Union of Concerned Scientists website I view self reporting surveys like this with a great deal of mistrust.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) As of 2001, you could still connect your VIC20 with 300 baud acoustic modem to Compuserve. That must have been some radio station you were working at

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) No, I believe that each person is responsible for their own actions. Hence it takes two to tango. How very GOP of me OK, I agree with that. Is an area for Dems and Reps to go to without taunts, jeers, and "dissenting opinion" a good thing? If so, then isn't the right thing to do to respect the other person's, space and to be a good guest? How very DEM of me.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) To be honest, the Dems most get ignored in the GOP thread as I see it. It does take two to tango. That would indicate the problem lays with the Dems who respond in the Dem thread?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) Just for discussion's sake, here are the top 5 from the GOP thread and the Dems thread along with the percentages of total posts in those threads. According to the numbers, it doesn't look like the GOP thread has been left alone either, so the whole idea of "only" threads has been long gone for quite a while now. I was also surprised that the GOP thread has way more balance it in, as the top 5 posters in the Dems thread own almost 70% of its posts, while the top 5 in the GOP thread hold only just under half of thread. The myth that the GOPers are the only ones doing this is busted IMO. What isn't reflected in the totals, and I can't answer this because I rarely venture in the GOP, is the nature of the posts. Are the Dems coming over there and arguing? Are debates flaring up between Dems and GOP in that thread like they are here? That is a bigger issue IMHO than post counts. And it should also be asked, is the site better or worse if there is a totally partisan area that allows for hyperbole? That allows for each side to commiserate? I thought yes. Still do.

Fields and Danks in 1st annual ESPN Scouts Inc. top 25
Texsox replied to Vance Law's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 08:05 AM) How do you figure? Bad players have career years all the time and than after that they go back to their annual crappiness. And Fields hasn't had a chance to show it, like I said I don't really think Fields is a better hitter right now than Crede is, just I'm not sure if Crede is the hitter everyone thinks/wants him to be either. How many guys have played that never had a great year, now how many have had one then none. I believe the never hads are a longer list than the have one and only one. That's how I was thinking of it. Plus all the guys that never have a chance at the MLB level, that peak at A, AA, or AAA. So having that first one is a lot harder than the second. The second one, you've already been there and done that. You have some experience, confidence, etc. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) Buying a new OS is like buying the first year of a new car model, you just never do it. You wait and let the bugs get worked out, then you move in when the problems are all fixed. The flip side to that is now many companies will introduce an item with the best materials and construction techniques and then gradually "take cost out" until the public complains then builds a new and improved model. With improved design tools and production techniques I'm just not as worried about buying the first year's model. I believe this was truer when designs were more fly by the seat of your pants, hand drawing, and guessing if it will work.

Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day. The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined. Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names. Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen. 1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) but i do like your attempt to show wit by using a Freudian term. it's very amusing. Yep, amazing a Psych Grad student using a Psych term. Wow, that is amusing. to some. Another GOP don't click link* *I love doing that because it pretty much assures them of clicking on the link.

I can see a well written, well thought out, accurate prediction of the AL Central that places the Sox, Twins, Indians, or Tigers in the #1 spot. There are certain keys for each team that if they happen, that team is going to have a strong run. Which is the most likely, we that's why they play the games. So when I read these stories, I look for the "what does the writer think has to happen for this to be true".

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 01:52 AM) Im not even sure if Crede is that hitter, Im a big Crede fan and last year he was great for us, but I want to see it again b4 im a true believer. In that case he's really ahead of Fields who hasn't shown it once. And showing it the first time is harder than showing it the second. At some point in being a fan I stopped worrying about who and just am grateful there are two guys that can play the position. -
Yep, I was impressed. What would be even more interesting is how many believe the Dems invented it to make Bush look bad.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) Freegans! I'm finding some irony in them having a web site. I hope it's hosted for free. Cyber-squatting. Minus the food thing, I'm thinking of trying that right after I buy a new external hard drive QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 06:25 AM) Amish? 'Omish' sounds like a transcendental Buddhist thing. No, the Freegans can use computers and the Internet. Only catch is they have to use 386s and 2800 baud modems. Where's that old Amiga I can lend them?!? Can you get on-line with a Commodore VIC20 or do I have to give them my Commodore 64

Here they are and they have a web site

I am starting to get freaked out by my own avatar. Thought I should share that with y'all.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Jesus, the first few SP's will correct numerous security weakness and glitches. Anyone who is serious about their PC is better off waiting for it to be corrected down the line. I cant even imagine the hacker's who are just drooling for a crack at the new OS. The hacker thing is interesting. How would it be different that loooking for something in all the other versions of Windows? It would more than likely effect the entire Windows family. Or do you think they would want to find something that attacks Vista and not all the others? QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) We're not all cyber dorks like you. I forgot that not many people here spend time on computers hooked up to the internet.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) Al Franken will leave his Air America Radio show on Feb. 14th to launch the exploratory process for a run for the U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota in 2008. Oh God. That's a Dem I can't stand. Here's a nostalgic romp

QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Well, if you read all of my posts and not just the sarcastic ones you'll see that Im perfectly capable of engaging in a lucid discussion with the various posters here. When? you dork
