QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I know that this is a snide little payback stunt by Murtha, but still I want to see this done on a much more regular basis. I think the world should know how Congress wastes their money. As long as it's let's do better, not "we can waste as much as you". I can't wait for the public to say, you're both wrong; instead of what my side did was wrong, but you did it first.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) These 2 guys get some bonus points. Especially Flake. Acting responsibly, like both parties should expect their members to act,QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) This should prove to be an entertaining reply. No doubt the media who wasted a week blaming Pelosi for something she didn't even do will ignore it, but it'll still be fun to see. This one has a ring of retaliation and if true, I'm not very proud of the Dems. The timing smells.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) Quiet Commie BTW, good for you for standing up to the asshole parent. I kinda wish our system had more of those in a way, because our big problem is that the parents just don't care. I can't tell you how many parents my wife has talked to whose response was "And?" Exactly what I was thinking. My response to parents who complain is to think of something I could have them volunteer to do. She is unhappy with the patriotic response to the pledge, let her head up a Veterans Day program or something the school would like done but doesn't have paid staff to accomplish.

Oops, I started feeling really good about the team. Too early for that. Back to pessimism

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 08:19 AM) And this sad part of the story I place directly into the laps of the people who soak up all this garbage every day. That tape doesn't sell for 500k or anything else if not for the celebrity rubberneckers. Its the people who spend all day reading websites and magazines like that who pay that money, not the media companies. I'm sorry but I just don't get the obsession people have with the personal lives of the galactically overpaid. Some of the same people that provide the income for those celebs when they are living. Biographies are among the most popular books of all time. The difference is over the past 50 years we have created disposable biographies in the form of magazines, tv, web sites, etc. Instead of the Biography of Ben Frankllin years after his death, we get Ben in Love's Nest, is Penny saved this woman??

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:27 AM) Kinda like those baseball players who have talent and use it to get a huge contract... Which IIRC correctly some here were fully supportive of just a few weeks ago. Exactly. And the ones who are playing for $25 a night and those that are playing for millions are both called professional ball players or whatever.

Reason #3 I am giving in this thread for heat over cold. Do you want to watch good looking people adding layers or taking them off? Cold Lover: "I'd love to see that new woman in compliance in long underwear, two pairs of socks, a turtleneck, sweater, long pants, parka, gloves, artic boots, hat, face mask, scarf . . ." Hot Lover: "I'd love to see that new woman in compliance at the beach . . ."

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Jon Walsh doesn't believe there's a connection. At first I was thinking, why does the former James Gang and Eagles guitar player have an interest?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:02 PM) ..."People jumping in to defend her and her life." You mean on TV? Because I'm not sure anyone here is doing it. I think there are some people who identify with her for parlaying her looks and sexuality into a nice lifestyle, then into a winning lottery ticket.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) And the people who trash people for not standing are irksome. I am rasing a green bottle of Tsingtao to you

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) I vomit towards knuckleballers... I don't vomit until the 8th and 9th inning in close games. Even with all the innings pitched and games started, Wilbur Wood was never among the leaders in complete games. Most managers just aren't comfortable with a knuckleballer on the mound and a runner at third base.

I just checked my email and received this from one of the dads in my Troop.

She would have cried for any of us that died and showed us a great deal of remorse, sadness, etc. She was famous for her boobs and nailing an old billionaire. Her contribution to society will not be missed, there will be a thousand people today that will die in anonymity who contributed more as a parent, teacher, community leader, etc. than her. I'm not saying that to disparage her, but to point out the celebrity worship this country is on. People jumping in to defend her and her life. Why? Because she was famous for being famous.

Seriously, I am a little perplexed why refueling is such a big deal. I can't believe it would add more than an hour or so to her flight. I understand not flying commercial, which until 2001 was good enough for everyone else, but non stop? Enjoy the extra landing and take off. IMHO I'd want her to end the controversy and fly the same plane as Hassert unless something extraordinary was happening. I don't even mind an occasional family member.
