A friend of mine is the Director of MADD here, it's her job to work with the victims and families and be at all the court proceedings. I couldn't do her job. No amount of money could replace the years of my life it would cost.

We see so many messages about don't drink and drive, but riding is equally bad. My heart goes out toi the families and friends. That woman who was drunk will now spend her adult life behind bars, probably never have children, be haunted by the victims she killed. And it probably isn't enough punishment.

Here's my point. I'd love for the debate to be, we've been too extravagant, we're going to cut this expense. Not, we're going to do the same as the previous. Wouldn't it be great if the Dems and Reps tried to out do each other for the public good? How about, now that we're in power we're going to do better and not take the spoils. But sadly, the Dem faithful will not push the Dems to do that. Instead we'll point to what the GOP did and say what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Just wondering how many states also say their state pledge in school as well. The pledge of allegiance to the Texas state flag is "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible." Lesser states probably don't even have one . . .
