Obama rakes it in from Hollywood A-listers More at link. Of course money is almost everything. This is only the early money, wait for the big events to kick in once a candidate is decided.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) Thank you, thank you. And yeah, I could probably use a name change. If you want to live on the edge, how about 2007Buerhle>2006Buerhle?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Dave + Eddie + Alex + 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen on bass is your favorite VH lineup? Mine would be Dave + Eddie + Alex + Michael Anthony ...but maybe that's just me... . bass? who cares?

Yep

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) I'm highly dubious as well. What battles cost us 3,000+ combat troops in the mid 1990s?? Maybe by "lost" he meant they couldn't find their destination and thus GPS was invented

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Interesting stat: we lost more troops during the mid 1990's in "peacetime" then we have in Iraq to date. I'm not diminishing the value of any of these lives, but we certainly do get a count for Iraq pretty quick in the MSM during these debates.. I'd like to see those stats. when and where were the mid 90s deaths?

Musically I don't care but it is a great party when they hit the stage and this is my favorite VH lineup. Much better than Van Haggar

tough to tell a grown up they are grounded and stay in your room, no matter how large a room it is. Add to that the sudden withdrawal of thousands of people cheering your every bump and grind, and some people discover they can't deal with it. Add a lot of money and people who will agree with the celeb to keep from having to get real jobs and viola, train wreck in aisle three. Read Wired about Belushi's life.

You hit the nail on the head when you said commonplace. News is the unusual. There should be some checkout at bars, I really like that idea, my brother would probably be alive today if Softball City in Grayslake, IL. did that. He later registered .21 at the morgue. Thinking aboout the parents, Coming home at 2 am to a party, I'd probably yell first and think later. I can't hold them too responsible. They are probably feeling pretty bad right now.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) I think almost all of them, on the subject of war, want to save lives. Bingo. The question becomes which saves more lives, leaving quickly or increasing troops and trying for a quick victory.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) I mean this in the most respectful way possible but... why couldn't she keep her legs closed!? She didn't meet you I kid because I care*

Not that it is right, but people have to go to school, they choose to get in the car with a drunk driver. Perhaps unfairly, we place some blame on the victim in this case.

Update from an IT point of view. Jet Blue it from a tech stand point as well. No way to track employees and luggage effectively. http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=4523&tag=nl.e589

I will be surprised if donations go down. Circle the wagons against this attack! Donations may increase. -
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) Makes two of us. After knowing someone who as a mom at 13 (and then again at 15 ad then 18), I am just not sure what to think. on one hand I support making parents accountable and notification rights, on the other it's a gross invasion of her body, ripping her body from her body against her will.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) One problem with simply granting another license - the cost of entry, the "moat" if you will, for satelite radio is enormous. Way, way, way, way, way higher than conventional radio. So the only way new licensure is not ridiculously costly is if one of the existing businesses goes into bankruptcy, and the hardware can be bought for relatively cheap. Maybe not. Aren't competing cable tv suppliers using the same cables?
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 08:37 AM) That's the cost reduction factor I mentioned earlier, and it will undoubtedly be a major argument they will make to get it done. Delivery is not the only difference. Its a whole different product, different content, different hardware. Its paid service for one, not free. For two, its hundreds of channels of audio, not 15. There are other differences as well. The closest analogy is cable and regular TV (though that is still not a perfect comparison for a few key reasons). Sure, people turn on a TV in any case, and yeah, its AV signals they are receiving. But look what happened with cable TV, and satelite. In both cases, the government is forcing competition, because markets with one cable company are getting screwed on rates. The same thing will happen here. Once SiriuXM gets their market to where 50%+ of people have it (like cable/satelite TV), the rates will start to skyrocket. That's the nature of a monopoly. And in the case of radio, since you need different devices and have entirely different content, I'd suggest that satelite radio is much more seperate as a market from conventional radio, than cable TV is from network TV. Therefore, again, more argument that its a monopoly. Seems hard to believe that the FCC would want to create a monster like that, which they would have to break apart later anyway. Another key area that it is different is the TV industry was/is producing profits. How will the public be served if one or both were to go out of business?

I'm guessing eventually there would be a tiered structure like cable TV. Eliminate the overlap in music stations and offer premium packages which mix both stations offerings. Maybe a-la cart sports programming.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 08:25 AM) 5th teen dies. My parents went and visited the boy I used to babysit (family friends), and heard from his parents that the McGee had some serious TBI and spinal cord injuries--and they weren't sure he would make it. So, I'm not surprised that this has happened. I am so sorry, E

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 07:53 AM) How the F is a mom giving the kid a gun and telling him to go get revenge on someone a fault of the educational system? I know our educational system has big problems, but how are those two even close to related? That might have been the worst use of the victim card I have ever seen. I hope this was just poor writing and bad positioning in the article. But it does hit the heart of something I believe strongly. Parents are in charge of their kids education. Every kids is home schooled. Some parents may elect to sub-contract some of the education to others, schools, after school programs, sports, Church, etc. They have to realize you can delegate authority, but not responsibility. So I will agree that child's education system broke down, but it doesn't sound like it was the school system.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Apologize? To the likes of you on an internet message board? Puh-leeze. It's politics. Bring your thick skin or go home. You liberals are adorable. Are you saying that lies are acceptable in politics? This report is false but no sense of regret for passing it on? If honesty is adorable to you, that is sad.
