QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) I laughed at the spelling of the title, does that count? That was the funniest part.

I'm not laughing. I might have smiled once.

QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) She hasn't asked. I don't know if she even know we're going. She knows about wakes and funerals, though. (We live next to a funeral home) I think she can handle it. I guess the reason I ask is I don't want to be looked at funny by taking her. If it was her grandfather or someone closer I don't think people would think twice about it, but someone that's not a blood relative... I always try to think what is the proper behavior and is my child capable of that behavior on an average day. Which is why I thought of the questions or comments she may make that others might not believe are appropriate. As long as she has the maturity to handle the experience, only someone without a clue would complain or look at you funny. If it seems like you are taking her for some less respectful reason, then maybe.
-
I'd bring her but watch how she handles it. Hopefully the crowd will be understanding of any questions that someone her age might ask. Some questions may even be shocking or inappropriate. Which later will be a hilarious family story. Has she asked to go? How did this become a decision? I would consider skipping it if she hasn't asked.

Zambrano: Sign me before the season starts or I'm out
Texsox replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) If they don't do it they are more stupid than they appear to be. They have the money, and I'd bet their scalping office makes MORE $ on tickets to the games he pitches. Wish he pitched for us... When the owners stop giving in. You sure can't fault the guy for wanting to get paid what the market backs up as his worth right now. -
Jim Thome on the Oprah show this morning
Texsox replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) He wasn't a guest -- he was just in the audience. ? He is so whipped. If he used his name to get tickets, he's even more whipped. If it was his idea, there is no hope. -
Zambrano: Sign me before the season starts or I'm out
Texsox replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) there's only a handful of teams that could/will ink this guy. 1. NYY 2. NYM 3. Bos 4. LAD 5. LAA 6. Cubs 7. Poss Tex?? not any specific order. I can't imagine Cubs letting him walk, Hendry/Tribune will have to pay up. I believe Texas has learned their lesson well and wouldn't be on that list. But then again, I believe every large payroll team will be interested, so toss them back in the mix. The question will be, who's willing to gamble the gonads. I believe he is correct that no matter what he is likely to do this season, his value will not be much higher and pushing a deal now is in his best interest. The opposite for a guy like Buerhle who has a huge opportunity to increase his value to teams. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) I never would have picked CCR for "Southern Rock". Where, may I ask, are The Outlaws??? "Green Grass and High Tides" is a classic. Georgia Satellites, Outlaws (also their Ghost Riders ), Stevie Ray, Thorogood, Molly Hatchet, Elvin Bishop, Blackfoot, OMD, April Wine Lots that I didn't add. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) Shania Twain has been on a pop rock station. Do you really consider her a rock performer? Do we agree there is a difference between southern and country?
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rock_...roll_performers Country Rock IS Southern Rock and vice-versa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagles_%28band%29 Nope. There is a lot of crossover, but there are major differences. Southern Rock is Rock with a southern feel. Country rock is rock with country influences. You won't hear .38 Special on a country station, but you will hear the Eagles. You won't hear Shania Twain on a rock station. Read through the southern rock links, very little cross over to country and western charts. Southern does not equal country. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) John Fogerty was born in California y'know Tex. The Band is from Canada, yet are considered southern rock.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:43 AM) Peaceful Easy Feeling (SSSS 1/2)* Lyin' Eyes (SSSS) Already Gone (SSSS) Take It To The Limit (SSS 1/2) Desparado (SSS) *Southerns If you consider that rock, then I have to agree. But I don't really consider those rock tunes. They are more country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Southern_rock_bands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_rock http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_Rock There is a lot of cross over there.

How to Place New Employees in the Organization: 1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room. 2. Put your new hires in the room and close the door. 3. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours. 4. Then analyze the situation: a. If they are counting the bricks, put them in the accounting department. b. If they are recounting them, put them in auditing. c. If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in engineering. d. If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in planning. e. If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in operations. f. If they are sleeping, put them in security. g. If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in information technology. h. If they are sitting idle, put them in human resources. i. If they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, yet not a brick has been moved, put them in sales. j. If they have already left for the day, put them in marketing. k. If they are staring out of the window, put them in strategic planning. l. If they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in top management. Finally, if they have surrounded themselves with bricks in such a way that they can neither be seen nor heard from, put them in Congress.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:18 AM) Just because you're not from the South, doesn't mean you can't sing it. Who's more Southern, Limp Bizkit from Jacksonville or Shania Twain from Canada? Southern Rock? Limp Bizkit. Country and Western? Shania Twain. Who has a song closer to Sweet Home Alabama? I agree with what you wrote, I just don't quite hear a southern rock vibe in Eagles. Fill in the blank for me, Sweet Home Alabama, If You Wanna Get to Heaven, Ramblin Man, Free Bird, Green Grass and High Tides, Fire on the Mountain, Midnight Rider, _________________ Life in the Fast Lane? Hotel California? Desperado? BTW, I love the Eagles. Saw* them about a dozen times. Texas grammer y'all
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) Skynard, but ZzTop and the Eagles are a close second. Eagles as southern rock? I never would have thought to toss them in that mix. Perhaps Country Rock, espcially the first couple albums, but never southern. I thought there wqas more a California / Detroit mix IIRC.

Jim Thome on the Oprah show this morning
Texsox replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Al Lopez @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) Jim said I'm really gonna get ragged on for this. I gotta ask, why are you watching Oprah and why do you even know the rebroadcast schedule? You may have to return your man card. What's on the View today? -
Impossible to count out the Yankees or Red Sox. Any talk of one over the other wil be which scenarios are more likely. History would point to the Yankees as they have for most of the past 100 years.

Zambrano: Sign me before the season starts or I'm out
Texsox replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
Jenks Heat's analysis is very good, he would be worth that in baseball economics. The question becomes should that be one or two contracts? Teams would prefer two because of the risk of injury and the cost of insurance. The player would prefer one. We know what direction the Sox have taken. I'm afraid we'd be walking out on any talk of six or seven years. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) I take it they upped the number of games on WCIU? I believe the slogan is We've upped WCIU so Up Yours!
