Best Female Singers/Bands with a Female Front Woman
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 06:05 PM) they'll be 4 brackets of 8.... I'll need help with genres but I imagine that Pop, Rock, Folk/Country would amongst the 4. thoughts? where would you put Amy Grant and Koko Taylor? Etta James? Bessie Smith? Janis Joplin? Oops and you really need to include Denyce Graves. Geek alert I know, but if you ever hear her as Carmen, it is like heaven opened the gates. She is beautiful and an incredible talent. But it's opera and no one here really enjoys the craft.

Gagne, Lofton to the Rangers
Yet a muscle bond first baseman who tears a bicep around the same time is viewed as clean as a whistle around here. But then, he's "our guy". And I am not accusing him, just pointing out that judgments get clouded by the color of a guy's uniform.

Wow Boras' supernatural powers don't work in Japan. Must just be stupid American GMs. Yet, many will still blame Boras when some GM makes an incredibly stupid decision on one of his players.

SD Senator suffers brain hemmorhage.
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) It makes sense because that Senator is a representative of South Dakota first, and his party second. And the Governor is the highest representative of the state. So, despite that it may cause a stir in the Senate, I happen to agree with the policy. So the Governor picks someone from the same party as the person being replaced. I am certain there are great Dems and Reps in every state. Then the odds are better the replacement would have closer views than someone from the other party. And the will of the people should trump.

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Well if that is in fact true then I see your point. Guess we'll leave it up to the investigators to find out exactly what happened there. The law prevents employers (and consumers) from being notified if the social is being used in multiple places. I am trying to figure out who this benefits besides the identity thief. If the employee provided the legally required documents, and they weren't cut out of a cracker jack box, I have a hard time accessing a $65,000,000 fine. Or $65,000 for that matter. There are a lot of issues here and no easy solutions, but one step is the IRS and Social Security to start monitoring these things and catching them before ten years has gone by. (article 2) QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) And then we would all turn gay! When Johnny comes marching home!

Are you trying to limit the genre? Comparing anything from the Pretenders with Karen Carpenter or Lena Horn (BTW you are including Koko Taylor aren't you?) just seems wrong.

SD Senator suffers brain hemmorhage.
yeah, yeah, of course we are concerned for his health, now let's talk politics. When this comes up, and it goes either way, it seems that the replacement should be from the same party. It has never made sense to me the fairness of a Dem picking a Dem to replace a GOP and vice versa.

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Come on Tex. 40% of the workforce?! I could see if it was a few people but something really stinks about that place and it aint the carcasses laying around outside the freezer. And if it is proven they knowningly hired people with false papers I can see the fine. But if they were in a pilot program from the government and the government won't even tell them if the social security number is being used at another employer, how can the *same government* then fine them? Come on let's change the laws and help businesses. The IRS and Social Security knew that these numbers were being used multiple times but doesn't notify the employers, now you want the government to fine them millions of dollars??

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) it depends on the situation, they can be. Sorry to burst your arguement. Again, what should Swift have done to avoid this? What is your company doing to make certain they don't fall victim? We ask for social security cards and driver's license or passport. If someone is proven to be using forged documents, should the employer be fined?

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I think you're absolutely right. Deport the illegal workers back where they came from and fine the living daylights out of whoever hired them. If we're going to dry up the jobs that these people are getting we have to fix it so that the cost in fines makes it unprofitable for them to go after cheap illegal labor. As it stands now that is not the case. Swift was in a pilot government program to prevent this. People stole identities and produced social security numbers. What else should Swift have done?

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
The government will not warn businesses or consumers when the same social is being used multiple times, and we are going to fine Swift $65,000,000? How does that make sense? If a bank loaned the criminal money, should the bank be fines also? I'm for fining the company if they helped the people with this identity theft, but if they gathered the necessary documents, and those documents are proved to be stolen, I can't see how the company shouldbe punished. We're holding them to a higher standard than the IRS, Social Security, etc.

The Problem with Illegal Immigration raids.
Somehow Swift is in a pilot program, seemingly working with the government, and then find out 40% may be illegals? That dosn't make sense to me. And SS, as I have said before, most illegals have social security numbers and other false documents. I assume then that Swift was withholding and paying federal income taxes. In the employees to revenue don't forget the cost of materials. Some industries have high material costs and low labor costs (think diamonds) and others have high labor costs and low materials (landscaping)

Amazing new product!
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Who would spend the time practicing that though? lol. and where was it going while she was practicing lol I never asked her. She got the idea during a training run at Kettle Moraine State Park. The ladies were talking about how guys had it easy, they could just run off the side of the trail to go, but they had to pull down everything, squat, etc. One of the guys asked "what happened to the whatever guys can do, we can do better, theory?". Did I mention she was about the most beautiful woman I ever laid eyes on, and she ran to fit into the iconic costume that the waitresses at this club were required to wear?

"Dogs Playing Poker" is one of the world's most famous paintings. Although not exactly known as a great work of art, the painting's "corny but cool" quality has given it a kind of eternal fame. If only the same were true for its creator... There are actually nine original versions of "Dogs Playing Poker." All were painted by the same man, C.M Coolidge. DogsPlayingPoker.org features a rather exhaustive biography full of interesting details. We were surprised to learn Coolidge was "an established artist even before he painted anything involving dogs and poker." According to this article from CNN, Coolidge's works were commissioned by a Minnesota advertising firm. Later, Coolidge turned his dog paintings into posters, calendars, and prints. He was paid for his efforts, but the money he earned was small potatoes compared to the $590,000 two of his works brought at auction in 2005. If half a million bucks is out of your budget, consider our original collection of cats playing pinochle. They're signed, framed, and perfect for the ironic hipster in your life.

SUMMARY OF MY LAST YEAR ON THE COMPUTER I must send my thanks to whomever sent me the one about rat poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every envelope that needs sealing. Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason. I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time. I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program. I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's novena has promised to grant my every wish. I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers. I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day. Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes. Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains. I no longer can buy gasoline without taking a man along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm pumping gas. I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans. I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer. And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face...disfiguring me for life. I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS. I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me. I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise. I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army. I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan. I no longer have any sneakers -- but that will change once I receive my free replacement pair from Nike. I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe. Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my ass. Thank you too for all the endless advice Andy Rooney has given us. I can live a better life now because he's told us how to fix everything. And thanks to your great advice, I can't ever pick up $5.00 lying near my car in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg. Oh, and don't forget this one either! I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies! If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 PM this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician... Have a wonderful day.... A South American scientist from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain and sexual activity read their e-mail with their hand on the mouse. Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.
