As I stated earlier, I was mostly interested if a platform that combined GOP and DEM ideals would have any traction. I wasn't motivated enough to make "lawn signs" or avatars and signatures, although I thought those were pretty cool. If GP is taking the time to PM people, more power to him. It shows the value of hard work in campaigns. Near as I can see, he did not respond too much on any one issue. There is a real lesson here. Just like our President is elected in 30 second sound bites, someone here can basically do the same thing and garner a lot of support.

I would like to participate in the strategy making of a two party election. If it is as a candidate, that's fine, if we think that Rex versus someone else would be more interesting or entertaining, which is what this is, then I will step aside.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) I don't get it. You're obviously the second best candidate, why would you step aside? unless you WANT to be a VP? I feel ackward suggesting that and then being in the mix. Plus, unless I am misreading the position statements, Rex and I are pretty similar, so taking one of the other candidates may make for a better debate and election.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) OK, top two build tickets. And Tex, its still early - you might not finish in the top 2 you know... Should I start a new poll about this? Whether we want a second vote for Veep, or second vote with Veep candidates like a primary-regular system, or just end it after this one? Since I first suggested it, as I said, I will step aside and allow someone else to take on Rex.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Let's do that. The winner of this election is Prez, then we'll put the other 4 in for a VP vote. Any objections? I'd rather take any two and run as a ticket. To facilitate that, I'd step aside and let someone else take on Rex. We already have a second place, I think running as a ticket would be interesting.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Where can I See everyones positions? There is a thread with a position essay and four threads covering taxes, Iraq, education, and the environment, all in the "buster". QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Or maybe a candidate? I thought you said you where a virgin* Coming out of the closet PA? *Oh yes, I went there

I am content with these results. I don't think a run-off would change anything, unless we add a VP candidate to the mix. If we add Veeps, then I'm all for it. But hold it to two, which at this moment in time, sounds very self serving.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Yeah, we'd be fools to trade an impending FA and a guy who had a career year who won't re-sign here anyway for likely the best baseball player of our time. That's my first thought.

yeah Damn, I tried to get excited.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Can't happen. Because of last year alcohol has been taken away from us, spouses are no longer allowed, and it is a "luncheon". It's also being held an hour and a half away from where I live. Wow, that's a party.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) I call it sex, but, ok When you aren't getting any, I guess you could call it sex. Oh well, we elected a President who could not properly smoke a joint . . .

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) I have a new one!!! But I am not going to type it here in case my bosses happen to wander by. Oh...f*** it...mandatory company Christmas parties can kiss my f'in ass. Just get really drunk and make a pass at him, then you won't have to worry about a mandatory party next Christmas.

I heard a phrase once, don't cry for things that can't cry for you. I also worked with a man who said he had infinite patience with people but not things. I like both of those thoughts.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Didn't she have about 5 'accidental' flashes in about a week? Regardless, one 'accidental' photographed flash from a man would get him busted. You don't believe me? Try it! LOL LOL, of course you are correct, but we have a long tradition of allowing females this freedom of expression. Think about Mardi Gras and if guys received beads for flashing or do they get arrested. -

The new Tylenol Cold products are excellent. The Nighttime knocked me out for 8 hours and the Daytime stuff is keeping my cough from overwhelming my day.

OMG, I thought this would have been from the Onion or similar.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) Hmmm. To be honest, I'm not sure I actually wanted someone to answer my question. An accidental flash is not illegal. As an overview, I am glad that cornerstone issues are revisited. I am not an originalist with the Constitution. I also don't think it should be easily changed. There are a few issues that transcend all others and education is one of them.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) I believe that rule was stated from the beginning. If we do this again next year, and people really dislike it, we'll remove it. I just figured that we'd end up with a lot of candidates being a significant portion of the voting group, so, it seemed like a good idea to put those votes elsewhere. Otherwise, just give all of us one vote each. So let's stick with it for this one. And you are more than welcome to strike bargains with folks for your vote, if you'd like. But, as this isn't the Cook County voting system, you can only vote for 1 of the other candidates. It just seemed like something we did in third grade. In the real world, candidates always vote, and presumably vote for themselves in a straight party vote. Again, in the real world, we should encourage everyone to vote, and candidates should be setting the example for that. In this election, it would basically mean each candidate would vote for himself.
