  1. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I gave my boyfriend a hickey on his forehead the other day. It was an accident, I swear. On the forehead? damn, you suck
  2. Dear Nuke_Cleveland, Early this afternoon, Senator Harry Reid, the Democratic Leader of the United States Senate, held a press conference on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court. Thanks to you, there were a million people standing there with him. That's how many dedicated individuals signed petitions and newspaper ads supporting Senator Reid's determined efforts to prevent Republican leaders from undermining democracy by making judicial nominations a narrow, one-party exercise. I am proud to report that 236,498 of those signatures were submitted by you and other members of the johnkerry.com community. We added our nearly quarter of a million names to those collected by the Democratic National Committee, MoveOn.org and other citizens' groups. We're acting together because we know what kind of judges will sit on the bench if George W. Bush never needs a single Democratic vote to win their confirmation. And we know what kind of decisions those judges will make - decisions that will define the meaning of freedom for decades to come. Thank you so much for standing together with over a million other citizens in this effort. We still have a lot of work to do before the Republican leaders abandon their so-called "nuclear option." But, you helped make a powerful statement yesterday when 2.1 million people saw our ad in USA Today - and today when you stood on the steps of the Supreme Court with Senator Reid. Sincerely, John Kerry

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) :headshake Well I made a couple typos in that one, going to quick. How about now?

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) I don't know. That's really messed up, though. He was a good looking guy before. Yes, I'm confident enough in my masculinity to say that. Yes he was. How about the Ukrainian dude?
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) You may be right. But I believe in most cases that when a man is faced with his own mortality, that tends to lead to some character adjustments. He is intellectually deep and very charismatic (Wait! He's from Arkansas?) and I really think any president would be smart to put Clinton into a position like the UN Ambassador. He would be great for the UN. The nightmare scenario for a GOP President would have Clinton as head of the UN and the UN at odds with the US (Like Iraq) Clinton is all the things you mentioned and a PR battle between Clinton as head of the United Nations and a sitting President would not be good. Which is why I doubt a GOP President would ever nominate him.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) He'll think of something. It is obvious that he wants to do SOMETHING. I have no doubt he will pick a cause. I agree, but doesn't it seem that Human Rights picked Carter? I've come to believe that Clinton is intellectually deep but shallow of character.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) Actually, I believe Clinton will turn into a good will ambassador for the US. Whether in an appointed position (UN Ambassador?) or as a private citizen. I think he would make a great UN Ambassador. I also doubt a GOP President will nominate him, and I don't see a DEM winning for another couple terms, so that may never happen, or happen too late for his best years. Carter has Human Rights as a cause, what can we identify with Clinton? That's the one problem I see with him really creating a post Presidential legacy.
  8. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) What about Kinky? LOL, I love his campaign slogans Kinky for Governor How Hard Can it Be? and Kinky for Governor Why the Hell Not? http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) I believe Clinton will fall into that catagory eventually. needed him to set up Bush, or a great ex-President? I don't see him with a great cause or passion beyond being himself. Carter seems to be able to take pleasure in doing things without being in the limelight. I think his (Clinton's) Presidency may improve with age. I hope you are right about his future.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Wasn't she governor previously? You may be thinking of Ann Richards
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) LOL. Just like Bush's term as governor. He was a very good governor. I'm also a big Rick Perry supporter. The next Texas race will be interesting. There is a movement in the GOP to get Sen. Hutchinson to run. I love her as my Sen. and hope she stays in Washington.
  12. I think we needed Nixon's last year, Ford, and Carter, to have Reagan. After nearly a decade of indecisiveness and public plans like WIN (Whip Inflation Now) and the 444 Day Hostage Crisis, The stage was set for a tall, confident, cowboy like Reagan. Carter is histories greatest ex-President. I think if Reagan's health and age hadn't been working against him, he too could have done a lot of good, just in different ways.
  13. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Bush, Rice, Laura, Clinton, Poppy, Cheney, Carter and everyone's favorite forgotten living president, FORD. I don't think it would have been wise to have Bush and Dick in the same place at the same time. I assume you would agree? With terrorism and all. Have they been together in public at all in the past few years?
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) "GDub" olny has to reply with two words ... Inquisition and Crusades. Great comeback, especially since the Inquisition and Crusades ended and are widely viewed as mistakes.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Or at John Paul I's for that matter... Wasn't there some kind of tiff where Carter said something about Catholics that pissed someone off? IIRC we may be thinking about him leaving the Southern Baptist Convention because of their views on the role of women. I believe he also offered some conciliatory words towards Catholicism that went against Baptist Theology.
  16. Digging up 8 year old stuff?? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...av=rss_business :headshake Notice they couldn't mention Texas fast enough in the article. Mysterious company. Unclear how the money was transfered? Ooh scary, he went to Russia.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) To be honest most of you on here are probably too young to get it. The Star Wars movies were something that completely changed a genre of entertainment. They were the Beatles of sci-fi. They did things that had never been done, and you have to put it into the context of 1977 to understand it. It's just like watching War of the Worlds today, and thinking it was just another crappy black and white movie. Libertyville Theater, Tuesday Night, about 60 people in the theater. There aren't too many movies that I remember when and where I saw them 25+ years later.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Eh.. just assume a reply. Then your response is "Where did I say that?" I've fallen in that trap with you way too often.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Not if they shoot a hole in the right computer.... How would that help?
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Anything to b**** about... 100% Correct, as always.

  22. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) For a " Po, po peanut faaamer from Joeja" he's done alot of work for peace and human rights. Look at their post President lives and it would seem that Carter, of all our ex-Presidents, would be the best representative to send to the funeral of a major religious figure. Certainly ahead of Clinton, and I would even place him ahead of Bush Sr. Teaching Sunday School, Building homes for the poor, supervising elections, his books all witness to his belief in Christ.

Michael Schiavo's attorney when asked why his client did not allow the family to be there I guess I made the mistake of thinking his attorney, who was there, and advising Michael, actually knew what was happening. Thanks for clearing that up.
