  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Not at all actually. It is extremely regressive against the poor, as they have to spend all of their money to survive. They end up actually paying a higher marginal tax rate. It would be disaster for poor families who now have actually a negative tax rate. I think you would immediatly create exemptions for food, clothing, shelter, type items to shield those first dollars out the pocket every month. Same as in my system of basically giving everyone their first $20,000 tax free for those same items.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) I think I prefer a consumption tax as opposed to a flat tax as its more fair ( more you spend more you pay ) and would also encourage people to save more money. Also a better idea than what we have. The problem with that is I believe if we all are getting together to do stuff like protect the country, fund some eduction, help the needy, launch rockets, etc. we all should kick in. The focus should be on the governement's consumption, not our own. Plus, the system has to get easier for the people who are actually collecting the taxes. It's a pain in the ass to be tracking tax collections for many small businesses. I am in the process of reviewing all the locations we do service and finding out there are 4 or 5 different tax codes based on city, county, and state, taxes. Spending time on that doesn't help me to grow my business.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) What is the hold music to hell like? While you are waiting, here's 50 cents and some Vanilla Ice-T
  5. I'd like to see a single percentage system, computed on earnings over a minimum amount, all based on the individual system. No difference between married or single. Using $20,000 as the start and 20% Single Woman 25, earning $32,000 pays $2,400 CEO earning $200,000 pays $$36,000 Someone making $19,500 pays zero. Thinking as I type this, I'm certain there would be some flaws, and I'm equally certain y'all will find them. Bottom line, come up with a min number, poverty level, or whatnot. I know that would give a person in Manhatten, IL an advantage over someone living in Manhatten, NY.
  6. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) And I want twenty dollars. Neither seems very likely to happen. So many thoughts, so many thoughts :headshake

  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 05:16 AM) There is one thing I have learned about Texans ovet the past couple of years ....... They damn sure are proud of Texas and being Texans. What I've yet to figure out is ...... Why? Like everything else about modern life, folks in Kentucky usually get it a couple decades after the rest of us. Y'all are going to be amazed when you stop dialing and use a push button phone. :finger
  13. Does every industry have a bias? Could we call some industries liberal or conservative? Obviously Hollywood tends to be liberal, which ones are conservative?
  14. The Way They Were Mammories, light the corners of my mind Soft silicon filled mammories Of the way they were Scattered pictures, of the clevage I left behind dollars you gave to one or the another For the way they were Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me, would we, could we Mammories, are all beautiful and yet Ones too small to remember Are replaced with even larger So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way they were The way they were
  15. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) And I thought mine were big! Stripper Selling Infamous Breast Implant on EBay MIAMI (Reuters) - A former topless dancer who was famously cleared of battering a Florida nightclub patron with her "crazy big" breasts has shed her oversized silicone implants and put one of them up for auction on eBay. Wanna bid? The Way They Were Mammories, light the corners of my mind Soft silicon filled mammories Of the way they were Scattered pictures, of the clevage I left behind dollars you gave to one or the another For the way they were Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me, would we, could we Mammories, are all beautiful and yet Ones too small to remember Are replaced with even larger So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way they were The way they were

  17. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) I love that pic. My new mantra. Starting next week I will be driving a nice 1 ton V10 Dodge truck, it gets about 9 miles per gallon. In a stunning but of irony, it's green. To go with my already conservative views on unions, abortion, balanced budgets, what is fit for the airwaves, I'm going to start pointing out how the media and judges suck.
  18. I love Fox News. I'm converting and joining my buddy PA on the conservative bandwagon.
  19. Putting away the Sox - Cub thing for a minute, I really think Santo should be in the hall. I'm very surprised by this (again). I know he would have given his right nah, I won't go there.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) I'd love to have a cowboy. Now that merits a YEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAW! Well shoot howdy, why didn't you say that before? Send a photo "I can see you got your eye on this ole cowboy and I can tell you've never had one for your own Or you've never been around one Now you're thinking that you've found one Well, it might be kind of fun to take him home. You giggle everytime I say 'Yes, ma'am.' And I get this feeling that if I held you tight You'd be seeing his and hers Buckles, boots, and spurs But that's a feeling you'll get over overnight. Chorus: Cause watcha gonna do with a cowboy When that ole rooster crows at dawn, And he's lying there instead Of gettin out of bed And puttin on his boots and getting gone? Watcha gonna do when he says, 'Honey, I got half a mind to stay'? Watcha gonna do with a cowboy when he don't saddle up and ride away? You see it takes a special kind of woman To put up with the life a cowboy leads Cause his boots are always muddy And his beer drinking buddies Will camp out on the couch and never leave. Don't even start to think you're gonna change him You'll be better off to try to rope the wind. What he his is what you got and he can't be what he's not and honey you can't hide him from your friends. Chorus Yeah whatcha gonna do with a cowboy when he don't saddle up and ride away?"

  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Sadly I still know the words to that and the Canadian National Anthem There are words after Oh Canada?? Remember never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you soon enough. And if he ain't, well there is no need to embarass him
  24. I know y'all non-Texans would want to know what to do when the Texas pledge is being recited. Besides suffering from state envy, y'all probaly wouldn't want anyone to know ya'aint from aroun here. Pledge of Allegiance to the State Flag (a) The pledge of allegiance to the state flag is, "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible." (B) The pledge of allegiance to the state flag should be rendered by all present except those in uniform by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Individuals who are not in uniform and who are wearing a headdress that is easily removeable should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, with the hand over the heart. Individuals in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute. © The pledge of allegiance to the state flag may be recited at all public and private meetings at which the pledge of allegiance to the United States flag is recited and at state historical events and celebrations. (d) The pledge of allegiance to the state flag should be recited after the pledge of allegiance to the United States flag if both are recited.
