  1. I remember during the Olivo trade that KW or JR mentioned that they have a 5-year roster projection and MO was on that projection. I wonder if Lee was also?
  2. This is one thing I really love about this site. So many knowledgeable baseball fans. Facts talk and bulls*** walks. And remember there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
  3. If you want to take a stab at Frank, look at his post season average of .231 and slugging of .346 :puke Including his 0-fer 2000 Is only saving grace was in 1993 they kept walking him pushing is OBP to .500 Frank works hard at staying in shape. Frank isn't always the smiling C-Lee sort of guy. It seems like, again just impressions of watching his career, that Frank doesn't have patience for anything outside the foul lines. He also seems to sign bad for him contracts. I remember a quote when Albert joined the team. He asked other players if there would be a clubhouse problem with Frank. The player replied that Frank wasn't a clubhouse leader sort of guy. Frank would be happy to share any spotlight and wouldn't make waves. It was spun into a negative at the time. IIRC.

  5. When the hell is Whoopie goin' to take off the blackface?
  6. I would like to see in this article one judgement he made that could have been due to racial bias or prejudice.
  7. The one thing that always fixes these attitude questions, this team chemistry, is winning something. Amazing how winning teams always have "chemistry" and "attitude". Win something and all that s*** happens.
  8. One thing not mentioned about "small ball players" they are cheaper than power hitters. In the long run, that may be better for a 2nd team in a large market budget.
  9. writing a story that is pro management would be a bad career move? The better stories aren't from the players "I just went out and played hard. Thank God for my talents" The stories that get noticed are the scoops on trades, mid season moves and the kind of stuff you get from access to OZ, KW, JR, etc.
  10. Mariotti would have been vilified and the article dismissed as crap. But articles like this is what gets a pat on the head from the team and access later to better stories. Better journalists are able to ignore whatever insider tips they are getting and confirm and really check out the veracity of the information.
  11. I am certain I've missed some nuggets of gold while skipping past many posts in search of the guys and gals here whose opinions have been well researched and written. I probably ignore half the posters at this point.

I am glad you didn't drag the Mods into that rumble . . .
  13. I agree with your analysis of the pitching, but then someone needs to fill the Lee, Maggs, Valentin holes. And we would be almost out of fill.
  14. Is there an easy way to add in his stolen base numbers, subtract out any hits where he was caught stealing, and xome up with a new slugging percentage? I'm not certain if it would be usefull or not, but it seems like his total bases may be worth looking at. It seems as if a single is as good as a double many times.
  15. Because that would be lame and way to easy? Maybe if he had some power.
  16. LOL Breeders Old, but still funny as hell Get balls? you mean bawls

But his quality may balance it all out.
  20. He could be the first player in franchise history to have the fans pissed when he came and pissed he left, and never play a single inning in a Sox uniform. I am promising myself to judge all trades at once, when the team leaves Spring Training. Until then, it is all a process.

  22. Genius. And KW gets paid to think up the same s*** we all know. I would also be saying a prayer to whatever God you worship that Thomas is back quickly and 100%.

Coors lite, because I'd want to die after that For nostalgia sakes maybe an Old Style (first beer) a Miller High Life (usual college choice and still the "everyday" bar beer) or a Shiner Boch. Since I would be having a pork roast some sort of a Wheat beer may be in order. Tough call.
