  1. Like I said Go Bernie Go - Feel the Bern
  2. It looks like gains because the starting point is tipped so far in the owners favor. Walmart minimum wage should be $50,000.

    War in Ukraine

I'm certain we're getting slanted news but it sure seems that Russia is targeting civilians.
  4. Now look at all of the most profitable businesses in America and increase those salaries. Go Bernie Go
  5. The Saudi golf league is crashing, they need to start a baseball league. Maybe eight to 12 teams. Rent some college stadiums. Hell I bet some of them MLB stadiums may have deals where they would be available.
  6. Businesses around the stadiums, spring training and regular season, will be feeling this. There are so many people impacted by this.
  7. Just to toss a log on the fire. Baseball players are like the art history majors we laugh at who complain later they spent years developing a skill and now aren't being paid enough. The landscape hasn't changed. You invested your time and money into developing a set of skills that has a very finite number of employers. Go to college and get a degree so you can sell your skills to a multiple of employers.
  8. There a thousands of golf courses they can work at as club pros.
  9. Which is a limited job skill that literally they can't sell to anyone else. It really is stupid of them to put so much effort into a job that they can only do for a few years and will likely cause then to work for next to no money for years then be stuck at minimum wage for greedy bastards that treat them like hell while earning millions for themselves. I hope future players learn from this and find other career paths. When teams can't find employees willing to accept those jobs wages will increase.
  10. Why isn't every business required to limit their profits and pay their employees a fair wage based on their profits. Walmart and Amazon are way more profitable than a baseball team. Those employees deserve higher wages based on the profits.
  11. I like it. Cuts down on travel. Fans would be in the same time zone for most games.
  12. The players put out a good faith offer that was fair, reasonable, and well deserved that was rejected. That has put them in a bad position. They should have put out one that was way too far in their advantage and then had room to move like the owners did. I've gone from neutral to the player's side. From what we are reading they are really being treated unfairly in the negotiations.

    War in Ukraine

I wish the markets worked based on companies doing the right thing. Apple stock dropped on news it is stopping sales in Russia. Ford stock declined yesterday for the same reason. Seriously anyone who shorts because of a company stopping business in Russia is a unpatriotic piece of shit. Hold those stocks or buy more.

I hate war and war machines.
  15. So every player gets a 20% raise and the playoff teams send a few better players to the Pirates of the world and we're all happy. Come on, make it happen.

    War in Ukraine

It's behind the NY Times paywall but I just read of the 500,000 refugees from Ukraine, 139,000 have fled to Russia. I was kind of shocked.

I actually paused as I was writing that. I was wondering if it was "the" like in The United States or "" like Canada. Thank you for clarifying.

I kind of miss having a crazy ass President like that. Scares the shit out of the citizens of his country and the world.

Their currency is trash, their stock market is closed. The poor don't want to die, the rich folks kids have flat feet and they don't want to lose their fortunes. Hopefully it helps.

    War in Ukraine

My path to understanding people and places is through the literature that is produced. I'll admit that I knew almost nothing about Ukraine. I still know so very little but can feel the struggle and can appreciate those common emotions that connect us all. If you are interested I think this piece is a good jumping in point. It's something I'll be using in my classes this week. https://www.calvertjournal.com/articles/show/12137/contemporary-ukrainian-poems

Smirnoff manufactured in Illinois. Stoli also not made in Russia. Boycotts are tough in a world of International trade.
  22. I think when a spotlight is shining on a problem it's a great opportunity to help everyone. If this work stoppage could help millions of similarly mistreated workers it could change history.
