  1. How much are you thinking their MiLB payroll is? Front office staff? Coaching staffs at each level?

Another school shooting. Des Moines, Iowa. Are we numb to them yet? Just another day in America.
  3. I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind. Does that make me crazy?
  4. Neither side will give up anything without getting something in return.
  5. I'm a little surprised that items like larger bases and robo ump is in the CBA. It doesn't directly relate to compensation. I guess working conditions. I'm intrigued with the one up for division winners. Actually I would have rejected it as crazy if MLB proposed it, but since it's the players, I'm interested.

    Real American genius.

Interesting way to send aid directly to Ukrainians. Airbnb has dropped all fees so if you book a stay in Ukraine the money goes directly and completely to the owner.

It's a technicality but it wasn't "parked" there, they owned stock in that bank. Large investment groups like that will diversify and not keep all of their holdings in the US. I'll bet they have investments across the globe. Banking and financial services is usually a safe investment. It's like owning JPM.

It was obvious in February investments in Russian would be at high risk. So I don't think it's that crazy they sold. I'm certain there is a common advisor in Kentucky pushing that investment. I even applaud investments like this in a belief that mutual financial destruction keeps the peace between countries. But when it gets laid out like this it seems wrong. I also noticed one of my international funds dropped about 30% last week so I have no doubt I probably had a not chosen by me investment there. And I upped my investments in the energy sector. It didn't take a genius or inside knowledge. I got in VTOL at around $32. I wish I had more to invest.

Exactly. But every generation does because they are superior to everyone that came before them. "We don't need to know anything you tried because you're old idiots. We're doing it this new way". And the cycle repeats. World War 1 was over 100 years ago. We are many generations past that. The insanity you speak of has been passed down for centuries. I'm certain your generation will finally get it right and end the insanity.

Also proving the earlier point about old people should not be in charge. Russia blocked Facebook in their country. Lol no one under 60 uses it.

See it's proof boomers shouldn't be in charge, we can't calculate. And quickly declining.

They were shouting down with the establishment!! They're all squares, man!! Your kids will be frustrated by you. What you are saying isn't new.

Yep. Millennials in college are at their peak. Anything after that and they are declining quickly. By sixty they will be idiots not fit to run the world. And the cycle will repeat. Boomers thought the same thing about the previous generation.

Because it's too cool of a word to waste on anyone else. We tend to use the less negative plutocracy when talking about our friends because oligarchs has taken on an addition meaning of corruption. Here we've become a gerontocracy over the years.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/04/business/lukoil-end-war/index.html Russian oil company breaks from Putin. Demands end of the war and expresses empathy for Ukraine.
  17. So why haven't you bought in of that's all it takes?
  18. It's a PR battle they are losing. We still have all the businesses that surround stadiums that are impacted. The reason teams receive such massive tax breaks and incentives.
  19. Paupers compared to the Waltons or Bezos. Plus if the owners published a list of the wealthiest players it wouldn't matter. Love the players chipping in to help. Great move. And publicizing it was a nice PR move.
  20. So if the luxury tax kicks in sooner, it benefits the smaller budget teams giving them more money to compete. The players want to stop tanking a have lower budget teams spend more and develop better teams. I'm wondering why the players are angry? Don't we want more teams hitting the luxury tax threshold and kicking in more money?
  21. That is an IRS issue not a calculating the MLB luxury tax. I wish they didn't call it a tax. The CBA doesn't change the US tax code.
  22. I keep thinking the 81% owners are influencing the 19% owner. I'd be interested in knowing how much he controls. With this many zeros involved, some of his fellow shareholders may want a different path than before.
  23. Isn't this the negotiations we wanted to happen? You want this, well we can give you that but we want this. Then a counter offer we can accept that but we'll need this. It's probably why they don't meet constantly. Working things out are complex and why they should have started a year ago.
  24. Or teams were hiding compensation in non MLB tax calculated areas. This is a good time to close loopholes. As long as the amount is increased sufficiently the players don't lose and the small budget teams win.
  25. I'm certain the regulations for luxury tax calculations are dozens of pages long. With deferred compensation and other options I'm certain big budget teams employee a lawyer or two to limit their MLB tax. So other teams try to close those loopholes. There always was at least two factors, what will the threshold be and how is it calculated. You add that stuff and teams will hit the limit faster. Good for the small market receivers, bad for the larger market givers.
