Many. Thurston's Lobster Pound. Whale watching. Bike trails in Acadia. Skoodic Peninsula. Bay of Fundy. The LL Bean factory stores. Blueberry ice cream. Walking across to the island across from Bar Harbor. Driving Mt Desert Island's harbor towns. Thunder Hole. Sand Beach. One of our lol memories is there is a gas station and camping store on the way to Acadia that has a really good lobster dinner. Basically aluminum foil over cardboard with everything dumped on it.
  2. Thank you. At this point no fight, just waiting. Leukemia just kind of lurks until it wants to play.
  3. Gotcha. At first I thought you believed the players tossed out a final offer and anything less was caving. I'm good with this taking as long as necessary. The players shouldn't feel any pressure to start the season.

    Cool idea.
  5. So anything less than everything they asked for? You don't think they asked for more than they expected to leave room to negotiate? No meeting in the middle?

I don't think anyone does. Pessimistically I believe people vote with their pocketbooks and will gladly sacrifice Ukraine independence for cheap heat. I hope I'm wrong.
  7. I'm not certain at what point caving would look like. Is getting half of what they are asking for caving? 25%?

While Europe will be buying the more expensive Texas gas. Will Germans be happy paying more for energy after being so close to cheaper gas from Russia?
  9. Would you limit leadoffs after the 3rd move? How do you avoid that basically becoming a free stolen base?
  10. Even if they settled on the last proposal it would be a "win" for the players just not nearly as much as they are asking for and less than what many believe is fair. Some people believe that the opening position by the players was the most fair and that any retreat from that is a loss for the players. I don't believe the union expected to get everything but made an offer that put all the points on the table. I'm on the fence between wanting a shorter term CBA and do this more often with smaller movements each time that would presumably be easier to negotiate and implement and not wanting to be debating the business side of the game every couple years.

Let's just hope they never want Alyeska back.
  12. There will always be played overpaid and underpaid. Players accept ten year contracts. Some will have better than expected years and be underpaid at any price. Eliminate gauranteed contracts and pay players weekly by performance to eliminate under or over paid situations.

Pretty much the same reason we took swift action when Russian put troops and missiles in Cuba.
  14. I like all of those.

Imagine Russian military along the Canadian border. Ukraine joins NATO and there would be US troops on Russia's border.
  16. And because you count separate sports from collective bargaining congrats to the players who identify as female on their settlement.
  17. I'm a Lowe's shopper but primarily because they are on the same side of the expressway as me. It's harder to get to HD. My first choices are a couple local supply places and McCoy's for building materials.

Forty years ago my career goal was to be a journalist and dreamed of seeing my by line reporting from a war zone. I still have the greatest respect for those journalists and appreciate the great personal risk they are taking. Watching their coverage with modern media is so much more personal and immediate. Being a parent and grandparent I see video of fighter jets flying low over suburban houses and just want to hold my kids. War isn't glorious. My prayers are constant for all innocents. I sent my normal donation to the Red Cross and will be researching legitimate relief organizations that are helping the Ukrainian refugees. I'm also writing to my senators and member of Congress urging them to welcome war refugees to our borders.

Decades. It's the new Afghanistan in many ways. If Mexico was leaning communist and we could split off a few border states to remain loyal to us, we'd be considering supporting those brave freedom fighters wanting the US. For peace NATO needs to find a way to lose gracefully and accept an East and West Ukraine.
  20. Today's growth decision change. I will be dropping my team off at the course for a practice round then checking into the resort. I've learned that the check-in process there is slow and causes us to not finish the round before dark. Networking and asking other coaches for ideas was the key. There was a time when hubris would have prevented me from humbling myself and asking for help.
  21. I'll admit I'm a radical. My most radical wish for baseball is expanding the rosters to thirty and go full platoon. Submit your defense lineup and your offense lineup. DH for everyone. No more accepting crappy defense because a guy can hit. Football has it right. I'd like to see more seven inning double headers leading to more off days for the players. Cut three weeks out of the regular season and add a round of playoffs. With 162 games the regular season is too diluted. But kids today yearn for what their grandparents had.
  22. Agreed. They should go to college and learn a life skill and avoid that whole baseball scheme. The odds of making real money are so slim versus being a PE teacher, insurance agent, etc. It's a waste of their time.

Despite another cold front hitting I'm busy planning for summer. Normally this would have been a Maine through Canada and back year but instead we decided on the UP.
  24. Just 67 years young. Makes me sad.
  25. No. Will you be supporting all future abusers? If the choice is stopping supporting abusers and being labeled a hypocrite for not objecting in the past or continuing to support abusers, I'll gladly be labeled a hypocrite. Look at the Hawks thread, plenty of folks walked away from the Hawks, but not the Sox. I guess we're all hypocrites.
