  1. Lol. But you are still in favor of expanded playoffs?
  2. And the players on that 85 win team can go to hell instead of playing in a playoff series. Better they tank and win 60. Drop eight games from the regular season, they are meaningless anyways, and add another round of playoffs. I'd much rather watch playoff baseball at the end of September than meaningless regular season crap.
  3. I thought we had playoffs to determine who the better or lesser teams are. It seems if a "mediocre" team wins a playoff series from a "superior" team, one of those team's ratings were wrong.
  4. Great point about being experienced in being interviewed. Hopefully someone in the organization can adjust for that. It is a different skill set than actually being a head coach. Having someone on the hiring side with experience could help.
  5. But you do want playoffs? Why more than two teams? I enjoy an upset. I don't mind if the lesser team prevails.
  6. I wish I understood better how coordinators work with the head coach. I'm my mind the head coach should hire great coordinators and kind of get out of the way. So here I'm more concerned with who the HC brings in as the OC than what they are bringing in themselves. Am I way off in that?
  7. So if a top seed can't beat a team that sneaks into the playoff they should be eliminated. What matters is playing head to head with the season on the line.
  8. Right. And there will always be someone willing to drop a billion or two to own a team. How about using the same logic with players . . . don't like playing for $600,000? Cool, quit and go make more somewhere else.
  9. So you can raise salaries without raising cost?
  10. How is a raise to the minimum wage not an easy verification of a cost increase?
  11. I'm talking in general terms. Any forced increase can put someone from being able to afford something to not. But it really just means it's time to find a buyer and cash out.
  12. I kind of understand his point. Those of us that own homes, if suddenly the house cost 3x to own, because of taxes, or required minimum maintenance, we would have concerns.
  13. Why have playoffs at all? The Team with the best regular season record is the champion. Playoffs diminish the regular season and make it meaningless.

  15. I use the my rule of 13. If I can stand there and tell a thirteen year old that this is someone the game should be proud of without a bunch of excuses, he's past the first test. I can't do that with guys like Bonds, Rose, Mac, Ortiz, etc. I'd much rather stand there and tell a kid about Baines or Mark. They added to the legend of MLB. The game doesn't have to make excuses for them. /Off soap box for the day.
  16. This year I'm just focusing on Minnie finally getting in. There are so many players I can go to Cooperstown to celebrate I won't waste time at Ortiz' display.
  17. I'm just repeating the lame ass excuses from some of the baseball writers.
  18. While I am 100% against the steroid guys getting in I will mention one facet that makes it seem unfair to those players: steroid use probably helped baseball win back fans. So after the players and owners fuck up this season, pull down the pants and bend over, we have a new drug for you.
  19. I agree with you. I didn't want to see him elected. I think it's a disgrace to the game. It's also a giant to the guys falling off the ballot for steroids.
  20. Everyone has a price. That number tells me he enjoys his current situation but knows what the "offer he couldn't refuse" is. I wonder if this was 2021 if he could have been hired for 5/$50
  21. X2 I'd also like to see some draft revisions to reward teams for being the best of the rest. It probably isn't workable but an earlier FA but only if the player goes to a team that didn't make the playoffs the previous year.
  22. If he flames out and fails I will be the first to say, I thought he was a very good pick. There are a couple areas that are concerns, but overall I think they did as well as can be expected. He could be the guy for the next thirty years. But I doubt it. Lol
