Really? Someone built an arena and offered people a chance to compete and have an audience. Someone built this and provided the opportunity. If enough athletes ignore the opportunity there may be changes. But most of the participants have no chance of a medal. It's their dream to just be there. I'm not going to criticize them or deny them the opportunity. If you start paying athletes those participants will be left out while the stars demand higher and higher payments.

I really don't think the players would report without a new agreement. Let's remember the current one exploits players, is horrible for the fans, and promotes tanking, encourages service time manipulation, etc. Why would they just head to camp? We would just go from lockout to strike. Which functionally is the same.

No one is required to compete. They volunteer. You contribute here for free. See those ads on the page, it's a money making venture.
