  1. It's amazing to me how well the polio vaccination rolled out. In today's climate we could have kept those old iron lungs in use.
  2. One good thing to come out if this https://www.texastribune.org/2021/05/12/texas-alcohol-to-go-greg-abbott/?utm_source=articleshare&utm_medium=social we get to keep our liquor to go access at restaurants. Instead of stopping at a liquor store we can order that margarita to go.
  3. If our manager had any other last name fans would point to the injuries, our record, and demand a statue.
  4. That's great news. I'm really fucking concerned about 2022 in June 2021.
  5. I’m just enjoying the ride and ignoring the rain. There will be plenty of time later to figure out why this franchise sucks, the players are horrible, . . .

I've used my Pro Trailer Assist a couple times now and I'm sold. I've been backing in trailers for 40 years so I know how, but this system makes life so much easier. That and the 360° camera package is pretty sweet. Basically instead of the large steering wheel grab a small knob and start backing up. Once you are lined up let go of the knob and just use the brake and accelerator.

  8. Our San Antonio power company offers free Nest thermostats if the homeowner allows the company to adjust the thermostat during “energy rush hours”. You can over ride the setting from the thermostat but usually it’s people not home. Yesterday they raised ours to 82 which wasn’t bad with close to 100 outside temps. We hadn’t even noticed it until I happened to walk by the thermostat. My point was more this heat wave is something that has happened before and the chances of handling it are much better than a deep freeze down to Brownsville which had never happened before.
  9. The power plants here are designed to shed heat, not retain it as we learned this winter.

So in the1980s how would you have loaned someone who wanted to be an app developer? Kids are going to school today who will be needed to work shops that haven’t been invented yet. On the plus side Marx is smiling.

    1. LOL Ok. Unless you are a high school senior you are out of touch. So let’s end the conversation. You are less qualified today than yesterday to discuss this, tomorrow you will be even more out of touch. You also can’t learn from experience. You can’t learn from watching others make mistakes. There is nothing you can learn that will help you to better understand this. Congratulations on peaking at such a young age.

I teach two sections of a class for seniors getting into college. Finances are a huge concern for most of them. I believe there will be a real slowdown in tuition and fee increases. Some comparison shop on prices and all of a sudden UT San Antonio and living at home starts looking really good.
  13. Wins are a meaningless stat. They just lead to other meaningless stats like pennants and world series wins.
  14. I should have checked, yes Schwab. Thank you
  15. Anyone use Schwartz? I just noticed that are partners with my bank, USAA, and it seems convenient to have as much as I can in one place. I don’t use really any of TDA’s features.

Holy crap with this post my post count and the cost of my new truck match.

Win or lose I’m enjoying the games more without the game threads. That really surprised me.

Nitrogen in mine as well. Not specifically listed anywhere in the price so it might have been built into the dealer prep. They tried getting me for the $2,500 fabric and paint protection package. It didn’t take long to have it at about $250. Back to nitrogen, one of the green dust caps fell off after a couple days, instead of just grabbing some plain ones of course I bought cooler ones with a N2 logo. So I’m a sucker. The only advantage I can see, we’ll possibly two are they will hold pressure longer. Folks who do not regularly check tire pressure will be riding on properly inflated tires longer and in theory save money on fuel and their tires may last marginally longer and be safer. Folks who use a tire gauge monthly won’t see a benefit. The second benefit I may receive is more consistent pressure when summer towing especially at elevation. Again, I would not pay extra for nitrogen but if I do oil changes at my dealer they will add nitrogen at no cost.
  19. I know wins are a meaningless stat that Gio probably cares less about, but I'm glad to see him get a win. Maybe it's just a bit of old school nostalgia.

Anyone have experience vinyl wrapping parts of a vehicle? My wife isn't as excited about the white truck as I am. I'm thinking of doing a charcoal black carbon fiber vinyl along the bottom edge. The truck is over 20' long so I see her point. There are some curves to negotiate but I'm estimating under $300 versus $$$$ for paint. I'm not thinking full wrap, just from a bend in the body down. So far I've added a bed mat, Truxedo tonneau cover, some cargo management stuff, Husky floor liners for camping. I'm really liking Android Auto on a 12" display.

IIRC the first solution was showing I paid state income tax in another state. Texas does not have a state income tax so that was impossible. Still no matter how easy it's annoying.

It wasn't bad for the 1997 tax year. I sent a copy of my Federal return with W2s and the case was closed. The only complication they said was I had moved to a state without a state income tax. I assume I was audited because I literally moved in late December but stayed with the same employer. There wasn't a split year with earnings in two locations from two different companies

I worked 50 plus hours a week for a couple decades while on salary. Just because overtime isn't a line item on your check, the compensation was built into the salary structure.

Plus the past administration ordered the USPS to remove functioning equipment. They were literally used as a political pawn in the mail order ballot war. They deliver to every house six days a week and for less than a $1 will take a letter from a house in Penitas, Texas population 400 and deliver it anywhere from a penthouse in New York or a remote mountain cabin in Alaska. Amazing.
