  1. I wonder what the odds are that he finishes the season there? He could get released in a few weeks.
  2. I believe it's South Side Hit Man who refers to them as the team's paid mouthpiece.
  3. Very possible. In the old days a manager could call out a player and the player would bust his ass. Today's players will be angry at the criticism and not be able to play as well. A manager has to be much more sensitive to his player's feelings today to get the most out of them.
  4. Fortunately in today's world a tweet like that is money. You gotta love a stupid old boomer winning at the millennial's game. It's all about the followers and eyeballs.
  5. If he retires as a Dodger his end won't be nearly as sad to me as Frank's.
  6. Stone didn’t have 1/4th of Moncado’s talent? Abreu has to go all out to be average? Great points. Unlike Stone and all the boomers, I’m certain you will continue to learn more about baseball and not less as you get older.
  7. San Antonio is the largest city without a MLB or NFL team. Great early season weather and will draw from the Austin area.
  8. Exactly. Stone knows that. So is this “he worked hard to get to 90% of his potential and needs a kick in the ass to keep going” or a misread by Stone?
  9. I'm going to listen a bit more coming from Stone than I would most announcers or media types. I think you also need to consider you can't see thoughts and emotions with 100% clarity. I've coached players that look like they care but really didn't and players that don't show emotion but really care. I'm thinking right now of a freshman who played horrible on day one and showed almost no emotion, like she didn't care. Coincidentally later I was having dinner at a different course and she was on the putting green at 8 pm. The pro told me she had been hitting balls since 4 o'clock. You don't always see the commitment and passion.
  10. Exactly. Mahalo y'all still cracks me up.
  11. Texas beach culture. I ran a surf camp for a while.
  12. To me it’s like trying to beat the market. What stats tell you to do is basically a mutual fund. If you are happy with average or standard then do that. But folks that can beat the baseline end up in the HoF. We rested a few guys and earned a split. Not a bad day. Plus, we’ll never know how players are really feeling.
  13. No need for designated English teachers when we have actual ELA instructors here on the board. With the fast pace of a message board it should be assumed we're reading first drafts and not polished pieces. For example, your opening sentence here isn't very strong and I'm certain based on other writing samples a little revising and editing would be closer to your full writing abilities. This also could have benefited from a different organization, perhaps two paragraphs. I believe this was an improper word choice and not a spelling or grammar error. Mute and moot are commonly switched to the point that many linguists support expanding the definition of mute. I hope y'all ain't still fightin' over this little dustup so we can have ourselves a hum dinger of a strongend!
  14. You've been here long enough to know it is easy, and we all do it. Lol Just memorize all the advanced stats and follow what the computer shoots out. An iPad is really all you need to manage in today's game.
  15. Kids today and your far out groovy vernacular. Mahalo!
  16. I hope every player thinks Tony loves them.
  17. I see him coming in late if needed. Same with Grandal.
  18. I believe we could have kept polio around more if politicos had thought to make it a political issue back then.
  19. Good thing the doc has me on Norco or I'd be unhappy with this lineup. I don't like seeing four or five different lineups each week. I don't think guys get into a rhythm and rarely do you have your best lineup playing together. It's more of a defensive thing. I want guys working together regularly. That means starting a few bench players at the same time instead of four different lineups in one series.
  20. American Airlines reported Pujols on a plane to Chicago just after the collision.
  21. Lots of fans following Tony's mask technique!
