  1. So true. It wouldn't have been the same if they held off the Indians to get the last playoff spot when 8 teams get in. Who cares if the race is for the 8th playoff spot and the other team will be 9th and out? I probably wouldn't watch.
  2. How did you get your appointment? That's the part of a process that is really inefficient here.
  3. Basically what happened to the NFL and NBA when they expanded their playoffs. No body watches the regular season anymore.
  4. Generally I'm a proud Texan, but my county, which is basically San Antonio, absolutely sucks at this vaccine process. The information is confusing and conflicting. No on line system that I can find, it's all call and hope you get through. Most of the people under 70 that I know of that actually received the vaccine basically waited outside a facility like a Depression era soup line and hoped someone missed their appointment. Then they hoped they were older than the other huddles masses hoping to be vaccinated. How hard is it to create a database of ages and medical conditions and give each person a draft number? Announce what numbers are being served that day. We're getting needles in arms, which is obviously the main goal, but this is just so amateurish.
  5. Interesting. That was my experience with Acorns. I didn't really look that close. It seemed like an interesting way to save a few bucks by "rounding up" on purchases. It wasn't until the balance grew that I realized it was basically a mutual fund with higher fees. It didn't seem like "investing". It was a fun app, an interesting concept, etc. So I can understand what folks see in these apps.
  6. I'm thinking of opening an account with them just to check it out. I'm feeling old. I kind of remember with slightly trembling hands writing a check to open an investment account while sitting across from a broker in an office. LOL I thought I was big time when in actuality it was probably the minimum necessary for an account. I didn't even know enough to know I didn't know enough. I was afraid to ask any questions for fear of being thought of as ignorant. Tom I believe was the broker's name and he must have taken some pity on me because he tried to educate me. I easily would have loved an anonymous app and probably lost a bunch.
  7. Based on a couple family members and people I know the second dose really kicks people's asses.
  8. My first career was in the electronic component distribution industry. Allocations have been around forever. I remember when DOS lifted the maximum memory config and 64K DRAMS were impossible to find. Even simple logic chips went on allocation back in the 80s. Then prices skyrocket, chip manufacturers buy additional capacity, and soon there is a glut and prices drop. Obviously what makes this different in a worldwide pandemic.
  9. In the article he went from 1st email from Robinhood to suicide in 13 hours. 11 pm he sees what looks like a ($750,000) balance. At 3:30 am Robinhood sends an email asking for $178,000 to be deposited within a couple days. By noon he killed himself. So up all night in what I'm guessing is a more and more frantic state without getting any answers beyond automated responses. Now that I see the timeline perhaps he never did speak to his parents. Is the app as game like as some of the articles make it out to be?
  10. I don't believe they are celebrating at all. The parents did know he was being asked to pay $173,000 towards the $750,000 according to the article and while not as clear seemed to know at the time the attempts he made to contact Robinhood for help. I started the post with can you imagine? I can't believe the horror and panic that the kid was going through and probably what the rest of the family must have been going through as well. I can imagine the sorrow and anger the parents are feeling over their child's suicide.
  11. Can you imagine what the conversations must have been like around their house? "Hey dad, I need $750,000 to cover my losses. Would you mind transferring some money? " Parents discuss being homeless, starving, broken in the streets. Kid commits suicide. Parents become millionaires with a fast settlement and a possible movie deal. America.
  12. If it is popular and makes money, it will be adopted. I remember when doubleheaders were the norm.
  13. Thank you. I missed that when I read the article. Nice timing by the attorney. Robin hood may be in the mood for a quick settlement. That helped me once.
  14. Thank you for posting that. I wonder once 7 inning games are a permanent rule if that ruling will change as well.
  15. I like the 7 inning double header although I'm not looking forward to game record controversy. Is 21 up 21 down a perfect game? Or will be start tracking 7 inning game records?
  16. In most states the underlying principle has been these are electives and we can adopt standards more stringent than what is required of other students. In discussing this with coaches in my area we believe it's allowable to require vaccine before participating. However, with very little data to support it, anecdotal evidence locally seems to support little transmission between participants in competitions. The outbreaks we have seen have all been contained within that team.
  17. No he didn't. The easiest way to think of it was he had bets on both teams. He was going to win one of those bets. Robin hood's app was trying to get him to pay his losses while ignoring his winnings. In a side note, this is old news that a media company is pulling up to capture eyeballs.
  18. Dustin Hoffman.
  19. I'm shorting your rights.
  20. SS2K5 is shopping the movie rights to this place. So far we can get a movie done and it will only cost us half a million.
  21. Moderator coup, movie deals, profit splits internet forum explodes. https://www.insider.com/wallstreetbets-reddit-bans-moderators-gamestop-started-movie-deal-coup-2021-2
  22. I visited a customer who had framed Enron shares on his wall. He said he bought the certificates on Ebay and framed them as a reminder to always invest in himself. I always wondered if they were fakes.
  23. Why not prioritize large urban areas first? Rural areas do not seem to have the number of cases that urban cities have.
  24. I really don't care how much they spend if they are winning.
  25. Hmm, 2022 the Sox would have one of the best teams in the league and a labor issue would keep them from playing. Where have I heard that before? Fuck.
