  1. His comment was started shortly after the first free agent arrived at his first spring training a few decades back and gets repeated every year. Blah blah blah glad to be here, blah blah love the team blah blah love the fans, blah blah would love to stay here long term . . .
  2. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) This thread is pointless Which if you are trying to poke it through the eye of a needle, makes life suck, and suck hard.
  3. 88 wins and the team is in the race until the final week. The key will be the first month of the season. They need a fast start. After the Orioles series they need to be 15-9 possible 14-10. If this season starts iff crappy, I just don't see it turning around.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) Senator Holds Up Aid For Flint Because Residents ‘Have All The Government Resources They Need’ Sen. Mike Lee lobbied for relief funds for Utah when flooding hit his state, and he's personally had hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt forgiven by a bank after a short sale. In theory I like the idea of local funds with local control for local problems. ALso in theory I reject if we did it for X we have to do it for Y. That leads to out of control government funding. Each case needs to be decided on it's own merits. And there will always be these types of connections.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) Always a fun discussion. I think MLB can expand by two more, and I also agree that TB and OAK probably need to move. My list of cities in order of likely success with a team... Charlotte (would need a fully new park, current one is boxed in) San Antonio / McAllen (much better choice than Austin in my view, for this purpose) Portland Las Vegas Albuquerque / Santa Fe Nashville (same as Charlotte) Salt Lake City Montreal (I just don't know that they'd draw in the long run) San Juan, PR Vancouver (way too close to Seattle) Just my .02. Looking at money in towns, scope of fan base, climate, demographics (specifically think getting to places with larger Hispanic populations would be a good idea). Good insight linking McAllen (200 miles away), you also have to look at Laredo and all of northern Mexico. I'd like to know how many fans from Mexico San Diego pulls in. San Antonio does a terrific job supporting the Spurs (hard not to) and the other pro teams that are around. The Rangers are playing a couple games here in a few weeks. Obviously they would need a dome. San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the US. I'd have season tickets from the start. Unfortunately it seems like it would be a NL franchise.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) It's generally known prisoners want to take out scumbags who kill innocent people. Think of how many women he killed, maybe children too. Prisoners want those guys. Didn't Gacy get killed in jail? Or beaten? Dahmer got killed in jail I believe. There are a lot of murders in jail. The murder rate of them doesn't seem to be too high.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 10:37 PM) And yes, the inmates all will want to kill him. Fascinating. Where do you get your information?
  8. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Anyone have a recommendation for a golf simulator place? The prices seem higher than I was anticipating and if I go, I want it to be a good one. The itch is becoming unbearable, haven't picked up a club in a few months. I know it's late, but Top Golf. Heated bays, but hitting full distances.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:03 PM) How the hell can they prove it was indeed found on OJ's property? Testimony from the people involved.
  10. Here's what could be the most mind blowing thing ever, the knife proves he is innocent. Could you imagine?
  11. I always had a positive image of him. RIP.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 06:05 AM) I agree. Any college whose sports programs can't support themselves shouldn't have them. That would eliminate everything but men's basketball and football.

Our society has gotten to the point where if you aren't valuable to a wealthy corporation or individual you are worthless. Our education system is in place to benefit the 1%. Uniquely human things like art and history do not have value to corporations so society at large can't support it. How have we decided that we will pay for 13 years of school but no more? Why not 10? The last battle was over free kindergarten. Why not take that away and add it to the other end? One year of free community college? And let's stop the worthless programs in colleges like sports. Society doesn't need sports, why are we investing in sports teams in colleges if they aren't necessary?
  14. It just missed us. We got the really high winds 45 mph+ and the cold temps. But no snow, which was nice.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) The key difference is if you are logging in on multiple places on different networks. If it is on the same network, you are fine. If you login from work and than from home on different devices, than you'll run into the issue. Just consider it a security protocol to provide additional protection to your account. Another security protocol that is in place is based on your post. Based on past contributions we have determined that this account may have been breached. Because this post is well written, accurate, and free of grammar and spelling mistakes, we must suspend your account until we can determine this is really Chisoxfn.
  16. I've been thinking about the the idea of paying for a couple more years of public education. Which, btw, we already do for any students are held back a year or two. What I would like to see is add two years. That will be the potential for college for most kids, but if you waste a year or too getting through the traditional first 12, those are the years used. Kids who work hard in high school and take advanced placement classes could finish the 14 years very close to a MA or MA degree. This avoids the kid who blows off school and doesn't earn credits at the correct pace then gets two more years. Instead of HS +2 it would be an accumulative total.

For under $20 and an hour or two we painted access walls in our guest bath and bedroom. Those $5 samples at Lowe's will paint a small wall. What a difference. We also changed out all the hardware in the guest bath, faucet, tp holder, towel hook, etc. The problem is as we decorate one room, the pressure to fix the next kicks in. Currently if we finish the downstairs we'll be happy. We also have exterior plans for a covered patio and repainting the house.
  18. Three days without a celebrity death. I'm thinking Thursday for the next . . .

Is this now the standard that other standoffs will be judged by?
  20. It took me a second to remember who he was. He was crazy
  21. I want our government to work and function properly. It seems like those in favor of stalling until the next election view the government as us and them. Function first, we'll debate the specifics as we go. But geez if we can't even function and follow the process, we're really screwed.
  22. I need dry weather from 8:30 am until about 3pm tomorrow. The golf tournament fundraiser will cover about half my budget for next year. Last year we had to cancel and I'm running on fumes. The rainy day fund was cut into deeply. The rain is suppose to stop overnight.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Feb 21, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Thanks for your concern. I figured I was safe from requesting the ol' please spare me the lecture line around here. I am fairly confident that my job is more secure than getting fired for spending some downtime throughout the day time doing a hobby. I get my job done, and I do it well, which is far more important to my employers, I assure you. Sorry if it sounded like a lecture.

So the company goes through the effort to block certain websites, an employee finds a way around the initial block, and you don't think it goes against what the company wants? If the company wasn't trying to stop employees from visiting those websites, why the initial block?
