  1. A smoke detector is chirping and annoying me.
  2. Just received a call from Cain. Why? It's frickin' Nov 3 in TEXAS?? He either has too much cash or not enough brains. Don't be spending money in Texas in November.
  3. Thank you.
  4. I am trying to think of a song to teach the idea of mood and tone. Even better would be one where the lyrics set one mood and the music another. Basically the students will read the lyrics (poem) and answer questions about mood, tone, and perhaps any otehr literary device that may be lurking in there. After listening to the song they will answer the questions again, only this time with the music.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) He was the CEO of a fast food company and only took home $18 million? That makes him a complete failure as a CEO. A normal CEO should have taken home 20 times that. He had all those settlements
  6. Toss it all out and start fresh, beginning today.
  7. Well I did consider that in my reply.
  8. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) It's for a worthwhile cause. People who use drugs shouldn't be Soldiers. We need to filter them out and eliminate them from our ranks. I guess it would be difficult to determine who may be abusing and who isn't, and then just test those that you are unsure of.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Franklin was widely respected indeed, and he accomplished as much as anyone might in a lifetime. But in terms of who was considered the obvious choice for leader of our country, it was no contest. When it came time to choose who should be President, Washington was the clear choice. For that reason, I'd choose Washington. In terms of who left the biggest mark on our country and the world, I agree though, you could choose any one of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson and Hamilton, and probably not go wrong with any of them. Franklin was considered too old so his contributions and record wasn't even considered for the first executive branch position.
  10. BTW, according to the Enquirer this week, Edwards' daughter achieved the ultimate revenge on Edwards' mistress at a wedding (maybe it was the daughters). So John is still making headlines over there.
  11. My favorite line is concerning the enormous net worth of $18 mil, I'm guessing he's one of the poorest of the candidates.
  12. I was impressed by the team of coaches all helping during what little I have been around professional baseball teams. It was not like there was a resource standing there saying, hell it ain't about rounding third, so I got nothin' to say. It may be where he stands for part of the game, but it shouldn't limit his, or any coaches contributions.
  13. The order of the thread places T after S not O. So we'll just give you an oops for that and move right along.
  14. Link The mainstream press must be sitting on this . . .
  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) Tex, you can't be that deaf and blind. The media were in the bag for Edwards for the longest time until they couldn't ignore it anymore. by that time, it didn't matter anymore in regards to politics. They sat on the story, you know it. They had names, dates, details and they sat on it. All the have (for the moment) are unsourced accusations against Cain and they are going full tilt. Of course his lame attempts at handling it didn't help any. Just as an aside, I hope this does come out so we can define what is considered inappropriate contact or conversation. Just wondering if Cain's misdeeds rise to the level of cock-tweeting. I am. I never believed Enquirer articles. Still don't. If I owned a newspaper I wouldn't check any of their articles out. You would.
  16. Ryan owned a restaurant up on a reservoir a couple hours north of me. Long story short, when he tells the story he mentions at first he was thinking Oh s***, then as Ventura gets closer he sees his eyes go wide and confusion kind of sets in. I believe I've heard Ventura say as soon as he took off he realized it would be like fighting his grandpa and realized he was in a no win situation. Beat up gramps? Stop? So he kind of half assed the fight.
  17. Way to go Cooper
  18. This season a have the 7th grade boy's team. The 7th graders, now 8th grade won district last year, so the bar is set high. We are learning a new formation. We will be starting from a 3-4-3 which is what the high school implemented last season. The idea is consistency from 7-12 in everything from drills to cheers. x x x x x x x x x x x Basically from here we can fall back to a 4-4-2 or a 5-3-2 I won't have my full team until the night before our first game. They are playing football right now. I had some tonight and saw some real bright spots. Two of my best players are very athletic and left footed.
  19. Really like what I saw from my soccer team today. We're switching to a 3-4-3 formation with the mids divided between mostly attacking and mostly defending. Two of my better players are left footed. With penalty kick tie breakers, that could be huge.
  20. Are these claims, settlements, accusations, etc. something that voters have a right to know about?
  21. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 06:30 AM) I don't seem to recall the press being this interested in a sex scandal when you had a Presidential contender screwing around on his sick wife. There were even details in that one, and no confidentiality agreements to get in the way. You are kidding, right? Or is there someone other than Edwards?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Anybody want to know who's campaign leaked it to Politico? It ain't bad to leak if it's true.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Southsidesox is not a message board, it's a blog. And a damn good one at that. Oops, my bad. I was thinking of southsiders.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 07:42 AM) For 3 of those guys, "Career average" is nearly all-star level. Which is why I am thinking it won't take all four to come around, three out of four with a rebound to career averages would win the division (without other implosions). I believe Robin has walked into the ideal situation.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) If you plug the result into Google, there are 156 results that pop up with this quote. They didn't just make it up. Right, but the other stuff is one of their posters. Plus the quote is 5 years old and speaking about a specific player.
