  1. QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) I take it all back. Your credentials are incredible. Thank you, I appreciate that. knightni is putting together another list, this one on villains, feel free to add me to your list.
  2. Oh no, not again. We just chased off the red tide.
  3. maybe I will, but probably not. I just joined another one of those liberal tree hugger environazi groups, http://www.surfrider.org/
  4. QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) Another bad thread by you. You're right, nothing really new. BTW I am a two time Thread Starter of the Year winner 2005 & 2008. Back in the day when we took the time to vote on awards. I chose to not start too many threads in Pale Hose. We usually have a good mix of threads in Pale Hose so I generally avoid starting threads unless it will be unique or something I do not expect anyone else to start. You may also wish to use green for the sarcasm.
  5. We have a lot of posters who leave for the off season. I am just trying to keep them around. The other forums here are pretty damn entertaining with some posters as knowledgeable as we find in Pale Hose. The Sports Movie countdown, like all that preceded it, was excellent. I suspect the villain thread will be even better. There have been some great soccer, boxing, and NASCAR discussions through the years. There is just so much here beyond Pale Hose. And of course the primary season is just around the corner.
  6. Keep stopping what I am doing to read a few posts.
  7. It is really easy to wish the best for him.
  8. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) In my view, a LOT of them. I'm gonna be here all day if I link every single moron found at these protests. 5%? 50%? 100%?
  9. QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) Another bad thread by you. You're right, nothing really new. nicely played. I enjoy your posts.
  10. Isn't there a difference between approving of the job he's doing and approving of his affair with Lewinski? You said there were years of people saying his behavior was fine. That's about the same as someone saying since you like music you approve of their drug use. But accepting your premise, since Dems did such a horrible job with Clinton, how will Republicans react that is better?
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) After the first few weeks, the OWS protests got co-opted by every fringe group out there. You got Commie, Nazis (patrolling the Oakland one with GUNS, but not reported in the MSN) Anarchists, drug dealers, rapists and people just looking for a had out. I think one of the OWS kitchen staff described them as 'Professional bums'. The people who originally had a point are overshadowed by the LARGE amount of crazies that are there now. And how can you take anyone seriously that communicates with 'up twinkles' and 'down twinkles'? Agreed. About the same as the Tea Party.
  12. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) And then there's this. How am I supposed to respect these morons? You are not suppose to respect that moron. How many of the protesters are also like that moron?
  13. After reading through the thread as much as I could, I'm wondering how we could define a good and great farm system and how long would it take to get there. If the goal of the farm system is producing mlb ready talent as quickly as possible, then swapping draft picks for 25 man roster players does that. If it is 25 man roster players at the cheapest price, then drafting and developing until they are mlb ready and under control accomplishes that. Both I believe are valid points of view and both would produce markedly different farm teams.
  14. I do like fried chicken and waffles.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 06:59 AM) Now a practical idea like this where the people who are upset actually do something to change their own behavior, instead of trying to make everyone else pay for theres makes way more sense to me. If you are pissed off at banks, don't stop off at Starbucks and pay for your latte with your debit card on the way to occupywallstreet. If you want everyone else to change, change your own behavior first. SS, I agree that we've become a cashless society, more dependent on financial institutions for many transactions, like morning coffee when we had used cash. However, and there is always a however isn't there, I think your comment would have more merit if the banks were proposing a per transaction fee, but from what I am reading it is a flat rate, no matter how often you use the card. Are you suggesting we stop using debit cards and go back to carrying cash for coffee(1) and checks for clothes(2)? Wasn't it the banks that encouraged debit card and ATM use, offered incentives for adopting those options over writing checks or utilizing a teller, and touted how this technology saved banks money in transaction costs? And at the core what is really happening is consumers are looking at costs and moving to institutions that offer these services at a lower cost. We're switching to USAA for our accounts. More services at lower costs. The push was my current bank charging a $10 per month fee just for having an account. In my savings account for example there are two transactions per month, a regularly scheduled transfer from my primary checking on the 15th and a electronic "sweep" from my checking to savings on the 16th or so of "leftover money" from the previous month. According to my bank, those are costly transactions for them to process and for free savings I will need to have a direct deposit instead of a transfer. Because I availed myself of the many programs my bank sent me brochures, emails, and had signs up everywhere like Bill Pay, automatic deposits, etc. it will take me a while to extract myself from my current bank. I'm not certain if drug dealers took marketing and sales lessons from banks or vice versa, but I was hooked on my bank's offerings, now I found a new dealer who offers even more, for less. (1) transactions less than $10 (2) transactions over $10

  17. So why not explore the other forums around here? We're manufacturing Sox news to talk about, creating stuff that possibly isn't even there. When Mark signs (somewhere) or there is quote that Manto doesn't like baserunners or some nonsense, come on back to Pale Hose Jump in the Quietly so no one sees thread. Your response has to start with the next letter in the alphabet. 4,000 Balta and SS posts can't be wrong!
  18. So a few misbehaving occupiers allows you to reject all of them, but we're suppose to look past that marine? People are unemployed, some for a very long time. Yes, they are not paying taxes now, they lost their jobs. Some very good people were out of work for months, even years. They see billions get tossed at corporations who then use predatory practices against them. As Americans they utilize their rights of free speech to protest. Yes, some are really wacked, just like your fellow marine. But there are some with some very valid points, even if I disagree with them. Using the logic I hear from a lot of people, only employed people can protest against unemployment As far as the drug use from this marine, any organization that needs to test 100% of their employee on a monthly basis has a huge problem. He can't be the only one.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) I think that battle was fought for a period of years, yeah. In the past 11 or so years since he left often, how often have you heard it?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Most of the democrats in congress. Versus millions of liberal Americans who didn't say it was OK. And have they really been saying it for years?
  21. I want to see a guy go up there, look at a couple pitches, then return to the dugout and get a bat . . . I kid because I care™
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 06:34 AM) Was it just heavy breathing into the receiver? Patriotic music, a notice to call a number to have the calls blocked, and a Cain stump speech. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:11 AM) Well, we were told for years that sticking a cigar into an intern's poos didn't matter and all that mattered was job performance. Who told you that?
  23. And last season I went with a 4-4-2 but kind of a U for my backs. It fit the girls on the team. I wasn't tracking the stat at the beginning of the season, but in our last 7 games, no team score on the left side of my defense. Yesenia was the bomb. When the kicker for the football team became ineligible I suggested she try out. Damn does she have a leg. She intimidated the other girls and when she had the ball, they would duck out of the way.
  24. The high school coach is very good, but I believe it is his assistants who are really driving this program. He's also a football coach. I believe Defensive coordinator or line coach. His assistant played at a very high level in Mexico, was an assistant coach at a University there. He also ran a club level program from what I've been told. In middle school we play boys now until Christmas and the girls crank up in January until the beginning of March. Texas is one of about 6 or 7 states that play soccer as a winter sport. Sucks for the north Texas teams. They cancel some games from too cold conditions. But it keeps us from forcing kids to choose from their club competition or school. Our HS program has a major challenge and the new formation is a partial answer. We have a city to our south that will send three or sometimes all four of our district representatives to the state tourny. Seems as if they always are getting a dozen recent immigrants to play for them ;-). It is tough to complain, our basketball program seems to always pull a couple immigrants as well who make big contributions. So we're starting by out thinking them. When we get back in formation I look at only three backs and cringe. With a two goal lead I will fall back into a 5-3-2, at least on defense. If we get down, those two mids will be cheating a bit to the goal side. I have three, possibly four speedy solid players for my mids and a little waterbug kid for my center forward. He flat out can control the ball and is good with both feet. I wish he was about 6 or 8 inches taller, I'll move him to the far side for corner kicks and get a taller kid in for any header opportunities. I also haven't really identified a goal keeper. I had one who has played the position before in a league, but I wasn't impressed during drills. No instincts were present.
  25. Crap, why did it do that?
