  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) That's what I am waiting to see. With the way it is going, I wonder if we will see many just sent to Afghanistan or whatever Baracks war of the day is... How many wars the size of Bush's wars have been started since Barack has been in office? Is the current levels greater or smaller under Obama? I'm not giving Obama that much credit, this seemed like the natural arc of the war, but I sure can't give him blame for the current levels of fighting.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) Still no reason for JR to charge $23.00 dollars to park highest in MLB.............per profit for JR. All profit is pure, what I believe you are complaining about is the percentage of the parking fee that is profit versus cost. Does the $23 include the city tax?

I was also going to number them and feed them to each other while sending them out to break into houses, well maybe just the black kid . . .

My team of teachers will be doctors, I will be Dr. House, talking in green all day . . .
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) By the way... I'm counting poker in sports movies. Pool?
  6. Obama was trying to negotiate keeping 3,000 advisers and trainers in the country but Iraq would not shield them from any prosecution, so he said bye bye. I really don't see this as politically motivated, it is a campaign promise finally kept.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 07:38 AM) I think we are about to watch Tex bait people... Actually I was going to offer my annual offer to go check out SL&M, The Filibuster, and all of the other off season forums.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) That was a tangent that Tex brought into the conversation. Some other guy who also owned exotic anomals, apparently died in a spectacularly embarassing sexual condition some time in recent years. It was in the original story from Ohio I linked to and the two or three others that followed. I assumed there must have been something linking them, but maybe not.
  9. Once Perry's team starts with the ads and stump speeches, watch him rise in the polls in the areas he has been. He's damn good in person. I have seen him a few times and he connects with an audience.
  10. It always seemed like he was respected by everyone in baseball except the fans.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) That's the best kind of justice, and it's certainly the most dependable. hyperbole? sarcasm?
  12. Do we think he was a 1% er?
  13. As long as SS matches Balta letter by letter (in the alphabetical thread), SS will get their first.
  14. OK, Ozzie is an idiot with nothing to say and we're never interested in what the other idiot Cowley has to say, that thread only has 283 posts and climbing. We could discuss Buehrle's contract status (70 posts), the farm system (65), Big Hurt beer (45), the next hitting coach (77), the 2012 Sox players (2) . . . So why is it we're drawn to Cowley/Oz like Alabamians to the corner of a NASCAR race?
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) You're still a posting demon compared to those other guys. My average per day has dropped the past three years from 28 to 14. My biggest posting time was when Pa, Steff, SS2k5, YASNY, and I all had jobs where we could post during the day. hell we'd have 50 posts each before lunch. lol great times.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) You interview both, look at their resumes and decide based on which is more qualified for the position. On second thought it's a poor analogy, plus many regular companies just promote from within when they have a good candidate in house.
  17. Do you promote a worker to manager in a company or hire someone else's manager?
  18. Yeah, Ozzie should take a clue from posters here and just stfu how many posts are in this thread?
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) Those two sort of surprise me, as they don't post nearly as much anymore. Hell, even Chisoxfn sort of surprises me at this point. I'm surprised I am still up there. My past is probably 1/3rd of what it was. Plus I don't really post much in the summer months.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) So...I must say...before this story, I had no idea that such thing as a "Privately owned zoo" could even exist in this country. And on top of that, we appear to have had a large, privately owned zoo where one guy could do an awful lot of damage. And a guy who has had "Animal cruelty issues" for years, with the animals living in "Filth" according to ABC. Seriously...why the Hell is any of this legal? It's protected in the Bill of Rights, Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. Big cats as pets. I was equally surprised it was legal. Even more upsetting, south of the border a major status symbol for the cartel leaders are these wild animal preserves. As mentioned earlier, it seems that it is also a way to getting rid of trouble.
  21. I hear what you are saying but these animals will not help the threatened ones in the wild. They were bred and lived as pets. It is a sad and terrible act and a waste of these lives. I was only saying that these are not from an endangered population. in fact just the opposite. The cost of buying a lion cub is only a couple thousand dollars. There is no shortage of ones for pets.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) This is a pretty obtuse way to look at it. Most of the animals are on the critically endangered list, just because a Zoo is producing more of them doesnt make them less endangered in the wild. Zoo's rarely breed them to release them back in to the wild And the ones in private zoos are almost always from the breeding programs, not captured in the wild. Which is why I felt the comparison was valid. They were not shooting from the population that is endangered, they were shooting animals where the most probable source is breeding programs.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) i would come out ahead big time under 999. but i don't have a bunch of kids and I am super rich. that low 9% income tax would way more than make up for the 9% sales tax. I'd be shopping a bit more in Mexico for big ticket items.
  24. All the Oz hate
  25. Just reading between the lines, it doesn't mention scouting baseball players it just mentions a hands on approach and taking a hit. I'm guessing he's looking for someone he can round the bases with.
