  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) I'd agree with the third for sure. I also don't think any candidate looks good by bragging about how much charitable giving they do. It looks pretentious and egotistical. Yet, to me, their history of giving is something I would consider. Volunteering as well.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Really? Oh s***. I see the actual emoticon. Well I was trying to be funny. Disregard. Tried and succeeded, just not how you intended.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) Bring in a young hungry AAA guy. They need new blood. Are the veterans going to respond to a rah rah kind of guy? You know, I'm not certain I understand what style manager Ozzie is. He doesn't seem like the Rah Rah type, but he doesn't seem quiet either. He defies discription. I do know repalcing him with another him isn't the answer.
  4. We have some extremes. Some veterans approaching their last contracts in Mark, PK, AJ, and some players entering their third or fourth season and are really counted on to contribute. The thread goes where it goes, but we do have one for who do you want, but the chances are we're going to see someone that is not a "name". Some asst from another team, maybe a minor league manager. I'm wondering what standard to use to see how he measures up versus who KW hires.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) If the decision has been made to fire Ozzie, I bet you money already has a list of candidates in front of JR, and he has talked to every one of them. I don't think they talked with anyone, that leaks out. I believe they have a list.
  6. We keep tossing out names, but that is a backwards way of hiring someone. A manager has to match the team. Are you looking for a teacher to guide a young team to a championship in three or four years? Are you looking for a motivator to take a group of underachieving veterans over the top? You can ask for everything, but that's impossible to get. So what kind of manager are you looking at?
  7. My only question is when does the team announce Ozzie isn't back for next season? After the World Series? Do they have a manager in mind?
  8. How plausible is this hypothetical, Oz wanted out of his contract this year and the club said no. Or some team wanted to talk to him and the club said no? The more I think about it, the more I think Ozzie is managing like someone who wants to be fired.
  9. Where does it say anything about Oz? He paused when asked about Coop. Maybe he paused because he already knows something that isn't public. Hell, maybe he paused because he was thinking I'll only be back if Oz is fired. And he's been a damn solid pitcher all these years. It's nice knowing you can pencil him in for 200+ innings, a bunch of quality starts, and rarely blown out. Take five starters like MB and you have a playoff team year after year.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) This is such bulls***, the idea that Republicans are stonewalling the country from getting better simply to win elections. BIG SURPRISE: People actually believe that what Obama wants to do would do MORE harm than good. GASP! NO! So it ain't so! I can't believe everyone doesn't agree with liberal fiscal policy. What a tragedy! Jenks, I believe Republicans were hoping for Obama to fail so they could regain the White House. Even before he was inaugurated there were Where's Your Hope Now? bumper stickers. So however you want to reconcile Obama failing without the country failing is fine with me.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) She wasn't the mortgagee from the sounds of it. Good point.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) The problem is the bank cannot legally ask that question. If they do, they open themselves up to discrimination lawsuits. I'm not certain they would if it was part of an eviction process. It would probably be bad to ask her age when processing the loan ap, but I believe it would be possible to comply with the eviction process.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) I'm going to go with Soylent Green for short. But these are people involved in the scandal . . .
  14. First off he's the second best 3B I've watched in a Sox uniform. I also read one of the beat writers sent a tweet that Crede sticks by his decision regarding his medical choices he would not have done anything different
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Exactly where I was trying to drag you. By having the bank put her out of her house, she basically becomes a ward of the taxpayers. Or best case scenario, she survives based on someone else's charity, probably with the assistance of the taxpayer. And I believe this highlights a huge difference between liberals and conservatives. With one or two exceptions here, (and those may be hyperbole) both liberals and conservatives are interested in the lady's welfare. Liberals will believe that there should be a legal (government) protection, conservatives will believe it should be private (which happened). But I really doubt SS wants to see a 101 year old lady without a home. And, again, it reads to me like the 65 year old son LIVES WITH HER. They both moved across the street to that rental home. And the cutoff SS, as I posted before, should be if you are 100 or have less than 12 months to live, you should not be evicted.
  16. Depends are for minor bladder control problems. If you're wearing a diaper, it's always a major problem
  17. Wow, maybe I am in too Republican Texas but my read is Obama has a losing hand right now and needs to draw a couple winners to have a chance. And no, this isn't my usual pre-election hyperbole. His approval has dipped pretty low, the economy hasn't recovered as much as promised. His big initiatives aren't playing out too well. The Republican base is really fired up to defeat him, more so than any otehr Dem president in my lifetime. I think he's in trouble out the gate.
  18. QUOTE (vandy125 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) Can her son be kicked out of his own house instead of her? My reading of the article made it seem like the kid was living with her, or she with him. The liberal media is playing up the 101 year old woman angle and not the 65 year old son. Makes for a better story. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) I feel bad for her, but I don't see anything wrong with evicting her. Her son hasn't paid the mortgage in years and was given a forclosure notice ten months ago. What the f*** did he think was gonna happen? He is the problem. Exactly. She raised an idiot kid. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) So what is the cutoff age for having to pay your mortgage? 100 or with less than 12 months to live.
  19. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_...-09-13-17-20-42 They should have plenty of time to walk south before it gets too cold there in Detroit. Maybe they could find a nice spot on a beach somewhere in Florida. Obviously Obamacare and Obamastimulus has not worked for this woman.
  20. BTW people who elect Perry hoping for a real right winger will be disappointed. He'll be a lot more like Clinton in that regard. Of course he will be right of center, but not as far as some give him credit for. Just what I see in Texas. He's practical that way.
  21. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) Also, I love how liberals just adore Huntsman. As if that's a credential that's going to help him win the GOP nomination. HA! Republicans don't need no stinkin' liberal and moderate voters. HA! I really do hope the GOP nominates someone with zero (what you call) liberal (appears to me moderate) appeal. That will certainly help Obama keep his base together.
