Do you think KW would undo the Chris Young trade now?
I don't think Kenny worries about trades already made. He makes new decisions based on what the current situation is. If the decision doesn't work out, he analyzes what could have been done different, if anything, and how to avoid the same mistake down the road, then moves on.

When did you start feeling old?
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) When I talk of a cartoon I saw as a kid that had REALTALKING lips inserted into the face of the cartoon character, and I was looked at like..........H-UH???????? What the heck are you talking about. (By the way, the cartoon was called Clutch Kargo). Don't forget Paddlefoot and Spinner, that was a cool cartoon.

OC and the antics
QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:18 AM) Maybe on MLB Power Pros. I don't think Javy wants anything to do with baseball at all anymore. I almost think he's throwing his games just so he can end it all and go retire. I think he would enjoy pitching some gems for a team that is eliminated leaving Spring training. No pressure, like a softball and beer league for millionaires.

Who won the VP Debate?
BTW, when McCain picked Palin, they had to know she would lose in the debate. I can not believe they thought she could even hold her own.

Who won the VP Debate?
The issue with this is neither person is on the ticket for any quality that really comes through in the debates. Biden is there to look experienced and old. Palin is there to attract independents looking to break a barrier and show a youthful face on the ticket. Let's have a fashion show instead. Or better yet, let's eliminate the ceremonial VP position and actually give them something useful to do, anything.

Coin Flip System
QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) A coin flip is stupid, but I don't necessarily think that it should be taken out of place. BTW: Patrick Reusse wrote a pretty good article about this topic that's definitely worth a read: http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/30074089.html I'm certain he is probably the Jay Mariotti of Minneapolis.

Coin Flip System
I prefer scenarios that involve performance on the field to a mid level executive playing heads or tails over the telephone. Or at least make it somewhat more of a skill challenge, perhaps tic tac toe? I also prefer using the largest equal sample size. So if the 162 game schedule is tied, I would use all league play, then division, then head to head, then a coin flip. It would also eliminate the endless coin flipping that occurs some years and the "emergency" coin flips that occur when some team goes on a 18-2 tear later in the season. And CC makes a good point that a coin flip is 50-50 and is fair, but the other seven teams are in the playoffs because of games won and lost. The sport is baseball, and baseball should be what is used to break any tie. A coin flip should be the last, not first, choice.

OC and the antics
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:48 AM) OC looked like a complete buffoon yesterday. No way around it. He did, but he's willing to risk that and that risk taking, that putting your balls on the line, is what I like. There are a few guys not named Javy that seem to want to be there. Javy wished he played for the Royals.

4 players that went home AFTER getting to Tampa
In 2005 it wasn't like Frank was there the whole time. It's normal to get out of the way.

OC and the antics
OC seems to be trying to fire up the team from corpse ball. I like it.

Does anyone think Guillen did a poor job managing?
Oz was fine yesterday, sadly he was not put in a position to really f*** things up.

When did you start feeling old?
QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) Last year when a hangover lasted 2 days. That was another point, I fear the hangover now.

The Adventures of Soxtalkers
So Fathom dragged his sixteen volume set of White Sox Stats August 2008 to September 2008 and joined the fray. Moments later, amid a loud whirl of noise that no one could understand, Kap appeared.

When did you start feeling old?
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:21 PM) About 3 weeks ago, my 15 year old son comes to the door and says 'Dad, brianna's parents want to meet you and mom'. Brianna is his girlfriend of 4 weeks. Every thought in the world went thru my head at that very moment I swear causing what little hair I have left to turn gray and age me 10 more years. Having the 'talk' with the redneck father that only sees a walking penis when looking at his daughter's boyfriends, and remembering what I was like and got away with at his age, just made me dread that conversation even more. I loved the "meet the parents date". I had all the credentials for "nice boy". President of the Chess Club. Editor of the Newspaper. Treasurer of the Varsity Club. Three sport athlete. Confident smile as I look dad in the eyes and tell him I'll be careful and have her home on time. It scares me to death that my daughter would date someone like me.

The Adventures of Soxtalkers
So they hopped in Jim's Dodge Dart and drove to the stadium where they hoped to get on TV with all their Sox gear. They even decided on black socks to match their sandals. Sadly, it wasn't much of a statement, as almost all of the Rays fans wear knee high black socks with their shorts.

When did you start feeling old?
Big ones. When two of my buddies dropped from heart attacks in the same year. When my ex-wife's father passed away.

When did you start feeling old?
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) When buddies from high school get married and started having kids. When my buddies were having kids and getting married, I felt smart When my buddies started getting married and having kids, I felt old.

When did you start feeling old?
When I could no longer tell if a high school student was a Freshman or Senior When I no longer cares about putting "hair on my chest" instead cared about hair everywhere else. Various times on fields, rinks, courts, and pools When I couldn't "pop" up on a surfboard When I was too old to apply for a couple positions When I see us repeating mistakes and not learning from the history of my youth When I had to ask my kids what something means

The Adventures of Soxtalkers
You must write two to three sentences, including one Soxtalk poster. Please try and keep the story line. FlaSoxxJim is in line at Denny's for their Early Bird Special before the Sox - Rays playoff game when he meets up with YASNY. Over the low cholesterol skinless, fatless, tasteless, chicken breasts YASNY decides they should do something crazy during the game to show their support for Javy.

If BA was in center in the 5th inning . . .
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) I'm thinking,if the sitaution was reversed, and Cox had sent someone like AJ,and he was out at the plate, that Cox would be getting roasted by the fans. X100

If BA was in center in the 5th inning . . .
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) He would've thrown the ball home in order to stop Cuddyer from advancing to 3rd from 2nd earlier in the inning? My point was that Cuddyer wouldn't have advance to 3rd base on the fly out earlier in the inning. Good point. I'm leaning towards they sent him because it was the old man out there. That ball was shallow.

25 man roster
At this point either player will have to step up his game to be truly useful at the plate. Where I think Swish has a nice advantage is experience. Perhaps there is a stat for smarts and the potential to not do something monumentally stupid. I think both their upsides are within spitting distance of each other, but I trust Swish to not make a boneheaded mistake, I'm not so certain about Wise. So in a battle of mediocre, I take the guy with the smaller downside and that's Swisher.
