QUOTE (Utah Sox Fan @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:31 PM) Nice inning JD, 9 pitches, and that's with a full count in the middle. Welcome to Soxtalk

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) Do it ! I'm hearing Steam warming up for a chorus if he gets out of line.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Harold Reynolds is so full of s***. So he wants Gardenhire to be the manager of the year and Morneau to be the MVP of the league? His justification for picking Gardenhire is that he's gotten the absolute most out of his talentless loser team, except they have the f***ing most valuable player in the middle of their f***ing lineup, so how can that be? It would be pretty funny if Morneau and Howard took home the MVP awards this year. A couple of sub .890 OPS 1B being awarded as the most valuable players in the game, talk about a s*** season for the MVP race. yeah, but Reynolds agrees with me that this is NOT a regular season game and the stats should be in post season

QUOTE (hockisles @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) flip a coin to see who wins the game then.. For both of these teams home field is a HUGE advantage. What makes a coin flip fair? What would make it fair by dismissing the other 144 games that each team played?
-
QUOTE (hockisles @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) If i were the twins i would be pissed that the game is in chicago. A coin flip decides who gets the game??? That is just dumb. Should be who has the better record head to head...then goto the division record. Play 162 games and have 163rd game decided by who gets home field. that is just dumb. A coin flip recognizes 162 games, head to head uses waaaaay less.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) they decided not to air the game in chicago since nobody would be interested. Isn't everybody at a Cubs rally?

I understand the 162 game counting for regular season, but 163 seems wrong somehow. Imagine the uproar if some cherished record was broken during a 163 game season. Holy Astrix Batman!

We already have term limits. Our elected officials come up for vote regularly. It should be up to the citizens if they want to keep reelecting an official. I dislike the basic premise of term limits, that voters are too stupid to vote out a bad official. I am generally against any efforts to circumvent voters.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) I also need a little help. I just started using itunes. Where is the folder where the songs are downloaded to when you buy one? In mine there is a folder marked iTunes in the My Documents folder.

Will the stats for this game be added to regular season or playoffs? Seems like it should be post season stats not regular season, but we keep hearing playing this game to get into the playoffs.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) I don't think its as lopsided as people are claiming. A-ram has a higher average, more SB, 1/2 the K's, more hits, slightly less RBI and HR, 4 GS's. 'ei started off ice cold and longo missed a month. Sure he may get it just cause the MLB has been hyping up Longo and nobody knows who Alexei is, but it should be extremely close. You bring up an excellent point that highlights one of the things I really think is unfair in these types of selections. It is usually better to have a no month than a slow month. Voters tend to fill in high the no month and count the slow month. One of the challenges of being a rookie is 162 games. Coming up they would never play that long of a season and will almost always slump.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) I don't disagree, but I've seen the plaques and they're pretty nice. It's law enforcement, so it will have his shields (for a couple of different agencies he worked), etc. And the guy retiring was responsible for purchasing the plaques in the past, so it's something he likes. I'm just trying to find a quote that suits him. Basically, he's the type of guy that loved his job, and the only reason he's leaving is that it's federal law enforcement, and he's hit the mandatory retirement age of 57. I take back my comment, I have seen a few of those plaques with the shields, very cool. Now that I have a subject. Seems appropriate for a retirement, especially at his age.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) My wife's boss is retiring, and one of the things they always do is buy the person a plaque. BTW, seriously, wtf does an adult do with a plaque? I have a couple dozen and they sit in a box. Back when I had the big office I had an ego wall and when I was sad I would go rub my cheek against the plaques and remember when people liked me. But now, they are dust collectors. Break the tradition and buy him something he can use.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Funny thing though... IL had a couple very good governors before the recent messes - Thompson and Edgar. Yes indeed. I am a little surprised that Big Jim kind of faded from politics. I thought he was poised for the national stage. Gotta love a Gov that can drink schnapps from a plunger

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:33 AM) THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!! And the answer is no. For today's blackout, the last thing I am going to worry about is sig sizes. Enjoy! The problem with these sigs is we may not go back . . .

It is a two person race, and I have to agree with almost everyone here, Alexei just misses. But, it would not be a major screw job if he did win it.
