  1. QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) All of you people saying he doesn't care must have missed or are intentionally ignoring his confrontation with AJ. He was fired up, he just sucks. Or some believe the confrontation was AJ telling him to care and he got pissed because he just doesn't. Let's look at what Javy has done this season Only losing record of a regular Sox starter Highest ERA Most Runs Most strikeouts But we could coddle him and hold him close to our chest and tell him it will be ok and we love him, even if he gags up an ERA of 12.46, if y'all think that's what he needs.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) I think the idea here is, its not your radio. This is a key that the owner of the vehicle could give to someone else - i.e. their child - when they use the car. If its your car, and your radio, you just use your regular key. Here's an interesting twist, would you rent one? Would you rent one if there was a discount? I would.
  3. Easy call. Go to the game. Life is about memories and there will be more tests.

QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) iAM SO fucing WAstd i rellyLov u texxxx. And I love you too shipps, now buy me another beer and a Jagerbomb
  5. QUOTE (aboz56 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) I was there. And booing. If I felt like he was giving us 110% every time out there, I wouldn't boo. But I just can't cheer for someone who seems content with mediocrity. And to add, there seems to be no outward signs of actually giving a s***. I know different guys display it differently, but you could see past Garland's "California Cool" or Buerhle's huge ass smile, they care and want to win. I believe you could measure the amount that Javy cares in "micro give a s***s".

Thanks for the post, we're on it. And of course it is as good a time as any to remind people to keep their anti-virus program and spam blockers up to date.
  7. I like the idea. Even the radio volume.
  8. At this point in Cubs history they can legitimately want and expect something more than a first round exit. But the window may be closing for another 100 years
  9. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) I agree that's pretty bad, I read that as some defensiveness to the criticism With him, I think he attacks the plate so much that it has to be a real hit to yr pride where your stuff is being hit so easily for a month now. To me it's a two way street. Players shouldnt pull this crap about "try to do my job better then" to the fans. Likewise, fans should show a little restraint unless they want to kill a guy's confidence permanently. Again, not b/c it's noble to do, but just b/c you ROOT for this team. you should want the guys comfortable. And not to beat this to deathm but if there was a time and a place to boo, this was probably one of the two best times.

I think I would want to know if there were some avoidable behaviors I could adopt.
  11. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) i guess i see where you're coming from , but i think he's under pressure enough without that. i mean he's letting this whole team and city down, it's not like he's oblivious to that fact. Based on his "I'll be laying on the beach with millions after retirement" comment makes me wonder if he really is oblivious.
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) Well one thing is if it's deserved but another side of it, which is the practical side. Why do it? It either is pointless or a detriment. So dont bother. Kind of like the stupid Cubs fans with the Fukudome racist shirts. Why keep pushing for the right to wear/sell that... all it can do is piss him off and make him less comfortable in his first year overseas. It could even make him...gasp..worse. And with Fuku maybe it did. Just adding stress to an already stressful career. You do it for the same reason Ozzie called him out. You hope it lights a fire under his ass. Kind of like a 40,000 person intervention. Perhaps coddling and holding him close while whispering we love you no matter what happens may work also. Again, I don't necessarily agree, but can understand it 100%. He is frustrating.
  13. I can understand the boos. I doubt I would have, but I can understand. It's actually pretty simple: Ozzie call him out > he sucks > he gets boo'd direct and simple chain of events. And that could be considered a cumulative boo from fans everywhere he's been.
  14. There was a time in the 70s when I wore some pretty tight jeans, no back pockets to spoil the lines.

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) I wouldn't exactly call this a make-up call.....that would be if he got pulled over for speeding and got thrown away for years. From what i read...it was a very strong case they had against them and he would have been found guilty without his previous courtroom experience. Though I'm sure that is what will be argued during his appeal. True, I didn't want to imply he was even possibly innocent. This one looked pretty obvious.
  16. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) But reimbursements are only not taxable if the expense is tax deductible. Correct, and only to the limits allowed, above that again, they would be taxable. An example would be a car. You could, as an owner, agree to reimburse $3.00 per mile for a car. Anything above the allowable limit would be income.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) If they are reimbursements, doesn't that imply that they are paying them back for money they spent? That would not be taxable then. Right. And the state should not be paying for the travel of her spouse and children unless they had some official function. Her travel is a legitimate business expense, her family's is not. Any of your employees could submit receipts for any expense and you could reimburse them, that doesn't make those expenses tax free. For example, you have to send someone to a training conference (legit business expense). He mentions his wife had family in the area who they have not seen in years, and you, being the compassionate conservative, tell him to take the whole family and give you the receipts. The babies travel is not deductible and the income is taxable to him. If not, think about all the income we could shield from taxes. Cut my salary $3,000 but let me submit vacation costs.
  18. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) Have you not seen Pujols's stats this year? If stats were the only criteria, there would be no need to vote. A formula could be produced that ranks various statistical category and a computer could figure the winner. There is a great deal of intangibles involved in determining "valuable" and that is what makes the award special. The intangibles that go into becoming more valuable than your stats.

And Danks did this without Broadway and Logan in the clubhouse cheering him on, all the more impressive.
  20. I'm certain Buehrle misses having Broadway around. To me it seems like a distraction having some AAAA guys hanging around like some fan-boys. If they ain't on the roster, they are taking up space and breathing oxygen that they didn't earn. If 40,000 fans aren't enough, and they really need Logan for support, the team is really f***ed. Come on, dammit, we really need those guys close by, in the clubhouse on the couch, they aren't helping at home on a couch. GMAFB

Different than the "I'm drunk" thread. All things drinking. To kick it off, I was just in Austin and dropped by 6th Street to feel old, and man I did at times. But, it still ranks as my favorite spot to hang out. Rooftop bars, more live bands than you can count, including multiple bands in the same bar. No covers, $2 drinks almost everywhere. Great street vibe. Great atmosphere.
  22. I think y'all missed this part in the report. Her family member's travel would be taxable income if paid by the company. Been there, done that, have the audit results.

I believe this is called the "make up call". I like the symbolism of it coming on the Anniversary of the blown call. What will OJ be hearing in prison? Autograph this . . . I'm gonna get me some juice for dinner . . . We're gonna run this play up the middle . . . Now you're a wideout . . .
