  1. /waiting for midnight movie with audience participation. Those were so much fun
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 12:23 PM) The only point here is that Rush Limbaugh is an idiot who will say anything that comes to his mind. Much like the Jay Mariotti threads, I don't know why anyone pays attention to him (well in AHB's case I know why). I have to make a couple changes. The only point here is that Rush Limbaugh has figured out how to earn tens of millions of dollars pandering to wannabee conservatives who can not think for themselves and will say anything that furthers those mega mega dittos paychecks. Much like the Jay Mariotti threads, I don't know why anyone pays attention to him (well in AHB's case I know why). I do not believe he is an idiot, and I think he is rather careful in what he says. He is the master of self promotion and manipulating the media and the masses.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) In theory I agree with you 100%. I don't want to do it, espically because it was the government's own damned fault this happened. If they had stayed out of the mortgage business all together, this would have enver happened. Are you saying that if there was no government regulation it would be harder or easier to get a mortgage? Sorry, I'm not understanding.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) userous payday loans etc. I was just listening to a student talk about those. I could not believe they are allowed. The local loan sharks offer better deals.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) I understand that, but for people who live in states that are clearly out of play and have been for a while now like Illinois, our vote is irrelevant for president. The system is great if you live in Ohio or Virginia, but here, not so much. Are you suggesting that votes are only relevant when the race is close? That if your candidate is winning, or losing, by a wide margin, the votes are irrelevant?
  6. As long as we are the United States not the United Individuals, the electoral college is significant. After all, it is these United States coming together to elect a President to rule over themselves, why should the states cede this responsibility partly to an individual in another state?
  7. QUOTE (juddling @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:13 AM) if i read the above correctly, a tie would be broken by Cheney right??? Maybe i misread above. The story ends with Obama - Palin and they live happily ever after . . .
  8. Anyone actually hear Rush say this? If it is true, and I say if, they miss one important aspect of the race experience in America, is does not matter what you are legally, it only matters what you look like. That is what will cause reactions, whether it is discrimination in housing, employment, services rendered, etc. Sad that Rush would be trying to find some loophole in how Obama describes himself. Obama could claim to be Dutch, but he'd still be treated like an African-American.
  9. QUOTE (juddling @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) and then we have another 4 years of liberal 'bi*ching' about stealing the election again.....ugh Really, with Obama as President?
  10. Seems like dad wanted attention. I've been solidly in favor of school dress codes. I'd love to see a uniform system adopted in all school districts. And to be fair, the school needs to drop this wear r/w/b, spirit week crazy hat, stuff and all the variations. Either it is important what you wear, or it isn't.
  11. Hiring, training, and motivating salespeople. I am 44-0, with some outstanding performers who became legendary with their peers.
  12. That would be so cool Not the result, but the process.
  13. Thinking about this, I was wondering who would be best at holding this paper after the bailout and believe it is the government. Any money paid on these mortgages should be paid back for the bailout. The government has the best chance at collecting. While the people who defaulted are still in the home, I would be in favor of Withholding all income tax refunds A portion of any unemployment, Social Security, Disability, Public Aid etc. check be withheld (it would go towards housing anyway) Lottery or similar winnings (but what the hell are they playing the lottery for anyway) Wage garnishment Almost any other payment the government can find.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) All I can say is that I trust Javy a whole lot more then I do Buehrle this series. Great, because I trust Buerhle a lot more. So we got them both covered.

    Nigerian Scammer

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:13 AM) That was pretty damn thorough. The best scams always are. There were a few things that had me wondering, plus if they could so nicely fake the tat on the girl's picture, they could easily fake the tat on the guy's picture. Some of the dialect and idioms sounded fake.

    Banks

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) They aren't wanting to give up the overnight lending rates they are making on sitting on your money. It's more than just lack of infrastructure. Thank you, that's about what I was suspecting, I just didn't know how they would profit.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) You hit in on the head. In this case we at least own the assets and get something out of it. In his case, we are giving away homes. You think home prices are falling now, trying giving some houses away. And to be clear, this is like buying a horse and getting to keep the manure while someone else goes riding. I don't like the government in the mortgage business, but if we're writing the check, I want the asset. Worse case it winds up Sect 8 housing (do we still have that program?) Hell, give them to returning Vets to live in.
