  1. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) Tex...I can appreciate both sides of the debate and for the record I'm a Fields guys now. I've always loved Joe and am thankful for everything he's done...but don't you think Joe is the one in the position of having to "prove" himself now coming off major back surgery and a problem that's hindered him the past 3 years or so?!? As I said, they *both* have something to prove. BOTH. And it isn't, in my mind, which one is better. Crede has to prove he can play his best. At the minimum, that is the current standard. Unlike Rock, I believe it is equally fair to hold Fields to that same standard. If neither one of these guys can play to Crede's best, then we've taken a step backwards, and *I* think that is unacceptable. Others may believe it is acceptable. But it seems it's only ok if "their" guy is playing. I don't really care which guy is playing. I would also like to see Fields approach Crede's lifetime BA for one season. That would "prove" something to *me*. If you have a lesser or different standard, that's cool. Use what you feel comfortable with. If my standard bothers you, sorry.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) There is no reason to close it. It was a few of trying to have a debate(thats what a message board is for) but some don't seem to understand it goes both ways. Why would you want to debate my standard for when I think a player has proven their abilities? I think it takes more than one season. You disagree. OK. You have your standard and I have mine. I've watched too many one season wonders.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) Looks a few posts above to see if I think he has anything more to prove, So if I say he has something to prove it's wrong, but if you do, then it's right. GMAFB
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) Nice Tex. I try to propose a serious question, and thats your response. Way to encourage debate. Debate? My statement is *I* think he still has something to prove. What's to debate? You've seen enough, I would never, based on one season, or probably even two, say a player has proven their actual abilities. You need less proof. That's great, but what is there to argue or debate? OK, y'all convinced me, nothing left to prove. In fact, Rock and Tony, you will win every debate and argument from here forward.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) Exaggeration masking that you have no real argument, nice work. No argument to make. There is no definition of "proof". I think he had a very nice rookie campaign, but still has some playing to do before he has proven himself as a mlb player. Others believe they have seen all they need to to anoint him a mlb player. To think there is some definitive argument to be made is hilarious. So according to Rock, Fields has nothing left to prove. I will accept that you have seen enough for your judgment. It would be stupid of me to argue that you need more proof.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) Once again, how is Fields supposed to do this exactly, with Crede still here? It's impossible. That's why no bench player has ever earned a starting spot without another player leaving. Fields HoF RIGHT NOW NOTHING TO PROVE
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) Ah, Cherry picking, I like it. Crede's BEST season which was years ago vs a half season of a rookie. How about Crede's production over his career vs Fields? That would be a bit more accurate dont you think. Crede is more a injury prone version of Pedro Feliz. My original statement was both Fields and Crede have the same thing to prove, that they can play to Crede's best season. Anything less is a step back for the team and neither is a good replacement. But for Fields' fanboys he only has to prove mediocre
  8. I'm trying to think of a show that I see first runs, hell even Stewert and Cobert I catch the next day
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) So the fact that Fields was nearly more productive in his 400 ABs doesn't count because it wasn't a full season? That's BS. nearly more productive almost as good defensively Are you claiming that Fields last season was as good as Crede's best season? I think Fields still has a little ways to go, and has that to prove. If you believe he has already proved it, then your threshold is lower than mine. I did not mean to dismiss what he did last season, I just think he still has something to prove.
  10. True story, I just watched my first episode of Sopranos.

  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) If you've ever seen Ss2k5, you'd realize the close resemblance. How true
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) I wouldn't have done this with players that we actually could be trading. Are there ones we wouldn't?
  14. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) I KNEW IT!!! Awesome! Yet another reason to like SS
  15. QUOTE(shipps @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Someone smart please tell me if this is a good trade please. I need to see what their contacts look like, that's all that matters.
  16. The job of the police should be to catch people committing crimes, not seeing how many people they can convince to commit crimes. I'm not going to differentiate if they are trying to get someone to buy a joint or commit murder. Catch criminals, don't create them.
  17. I know he'll steal from the company, so I'm going to leave $50 by his desk. And if that doesn't work, I'll leave $1,000. And if that doesn't work, I'll leave $50,000, but dammit, I'm going to prove he's a criminal.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) That's exactly it - the right tools for the job. I started doing serious Macromedia Director authoring and Adobe Premier editing around 1992, and for those apps you needed to have enough real estate to have a half-dozen tool windows and pallets open as well as your main project window. With a single monitor you'd spend half your day opening/closing and shuffling windows and you wouldn't get anything done. And for the dozens and dozens of users like yourself, a dream was realized!
  19. You walk into a neighborhood and there are drug dealers, hookers, bookies, and child pornographers, does crime go up or down? Now what if they all are cops? When cops commit crimes we should be very wary. No matter who they are trying to arrest. There are enough people committing crimes to arrest without creating a few more.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) Any chance the PTBNL is Cain or Lincecum, if people perform? No chance, guaranteed. I'd bet anything.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) When did child exploitation or websites and forums that work on that become legal? Decoys have been used in police work for all sorts of crimes, why not electronic. No one entices a person to look at child pornography. You make an active choice to look at it. So why not arrest them for being on the illegal websites?
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) Creaper?? You would have paid $10K for a single VGA monitor that gave you anything close to the real estate of two of the standard 640x480s of the day. My point was I didn't need two monitors. Still do not. My 17' laptop display is just fine. I've played with a second monitor and so far, just didn't need the clutter on my desktop. So I guess for those that needed that much real estate, Mac was the way to go.
