  1. Trade everyone while they are at an all-time high Great game to watch. I do not get to see many, and settled in with small expectations. Wow. This team looks good, but it is hard to look bad winning 13-2
  2. I'm the one downhill. My buddy spent years in television and know how to always have the better camera angle. No gorillas but did see a mountain lion, which was very cool. Big Bend National Park 2006. Great trip.
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Coincidence. I'm sure some WS winners had 4-game losing streaks. Just because it didn't happen at the start of the season doesn't mean much. What should worry them more is how wretched Dontrelle looked yesterday. Even when he was throwing a no-hitter he looked like crap. If he can't be at least a competent innings-eater, that's big trouble, especially with the bullpen woes. Excellent analysis. That stat would be much more meaningful in football where 4 games is a bigger percentage of all the games played. Even in basketball and hockey, it would have slightly more meaning. I'd be interested if any team has avoided a 4 games losing streak and not won a WS.
  4. It's early, but I really think come early fall, this will still be a race.
  5. Just think, this was the team, along with Cleveland, who had many posters here believing we should throw in the towel for the season, trade every veteran, and wait until we "had a chance".
  6. After the Spring, I'm happy with BA as the 3/4 CF and actually would like to see him have opportunities to be successful. Increasing value in players is not a bad idea as long as it doesn't hurt the team. And it is great to see that Oz has some options there. In fact he has some options all around the field.
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) Lee Harvey Oswald was a Marine also... I'm pretty sure he isn't a patriot. So as long as Wright didn't assassinate a President, he's still cool as a patriot? I can't see placing him below those that used wealth, privilege, various deferments, etc. to avoid service. Last I looked, freedom of (most kinds) of speach are allowed, so what he is doing is legal.
  8. I understand things change when the team is doing well versus doing poorly, but look at the board over the off season, ZERO games played, and people were still negative. And keeping topics in proper threads is something that needs to be done. But I swear you could start a thread about the corn fields of Dekalb and three posts later there would be a Crede / Fields debate going.
  9. hey CC, you ever find a negative article about your candidate? Or only Obama?

  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Me in Vegas for Halloween a couple years back. Who's the guy?
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) I come because it is a great place for information and I've made several "friends" here who I PM with routinely. I've met several people from this forum. That's why I come to SoxTalk overall. Before I give any more information, I'd like assurances that further feedback is free. That is: we are allowed to speak freely and openly, as long as it is with good faith, no matter if it is critical of X or Y. Actually, I am only going to share my thoughts with Gage, but want to clarify what I meant with the second "paragraph" of this post -- I didn't mean critical of any posters or moderators or Administrators. This goes to anyone, please feel free to PM a mod or admin, if you are more comfortable.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) Having discussed this a few times recently, I have been thinking that it isnt really specific people, but rather the tone of the entire base of soxtalk members. I love coming here and reading opinions and arguments and stories and experiences, from the SLaM forum all the way up to Pale Hose Talk, I love the entire website. Its the first and last thing I read during the day, the speed of the flow of information through soxtalk rivals cnn.com sometimes. It just seems that a lot of resentment has built up throughout the site recently. Maybe it is because it is an election year, maybe its because the Sox had a severely subpar year last year, maybe it is just the evolution of the type of discussion that happens here, I dont know. To me it just seems like every post is baited, the people that used to really enjoy the site are unhappy, and people turn on each other far too quickly anymore. This post is not directed at any one person specifically. I am probably just as guilty as any one else of anything I mentioned. to answer your question, I am here because I view coming to this site as meeting a great bunch of friends, some of whom really get along, others not so much. BINGO! That in a nutshell has been a number of conversations we've had as mods and admins and wondering what, or even if, we should do something about it. Years ago, I wondered why a Sox forum would ban specific topics, like attendance or Mariotti. While attendance has not been a cantankerous issue here, there are many times I wish we would ban Crede/Fields threads and Mariotti myself. We have some people who come here to complain and some who come here to feel better about being a Sox fan. perhaps those two are at odds to each other and each need separate space.
  14. The issue with these types of questions, is the reader has already answered them. If Obama was to answer them, for those that are glamoring the most for answers, there are only two types of answers possible. The answers they have already decided on, or lies. So unless his answers matched exactly what the audience already believes (which is to say the worse possible) they will dismiss what he has to say as lies.
  15. Nice. Having fun, which is what it should be about.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) All 14 of those questions are valid. I see nothing wrong with them. No one knows anything really about Obama. It'd be nice if he actually got some hardball questions instead of the usual crap he gets on shows like the view. As valid as asking the other candidates if they stopped beating their kids
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) Did you have to pay extra for her to wear the pirate costume? Worth it!
  18. The nail that sticks out gets hammered, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The mods and admins around here receive all sorts of suggestions on how this forum, and specifically, the heart and soul, Pale Hose Talk, should be managed. All of those suggestions are reviewed and discussed. But it seems that we only receive comments from a small group of posters, and perhaps not so surprisingly, they tend to complain about each other and how the other is "ruining the board". So please take a moment and either post here, or send a PM to any of the mods or admins, about what makes this place good for you. Is there ever too much positive sunshine or too much negative rain? What kinds of posts add to the site, and what kinds of posts subtract from the site. What makes you come, and as importantly, what makes you leave. It is the start of a season, and we'd like to be certain we are serving the greatest number of posters.
  19. I always felt that the Sox were very close to Cleveland and about even with the Tigers. Everyone added and subtracted this past off season. Plus, the difference between missing the playoffs and winning the WS is not that big a gulf that hard work and a few breaks cannot make it up. It appears that we're going to win today, and that makes a pitchers duel win and a offensive win this season.
  20. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Name the Patriot.... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ope...3,0,92000.story To be fair, that just shows a couple things that people change. who the military allows to serve.

Brantly just went up a couple notches in my book. I have never been a fan of his, but that is gold,
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) havent had a thread like this in a while. post your pimpest picture. For the last time, Soxy isn't going to provide material for you, surf the web like everyone else . . .
