GT: Guardians at White Sox, Game 2 - 7:10 CT
35thstreetswarm replied to Quin's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Take a gander at the gamethreads -- just threads in general -- from the 99-win, wire-to-wire, 11-1 postseason World Series championship season of 2005. It was gutwrenching. It was conventional wisdom that the Sox were a moribund offensive team of chokers who "couldn't beat the good teams" to save their lives. It was not really that fun here then, and it won't ever be. -

It was fun from the perspective of a casual fan. I know plenty of mental case Cub fanatics that were near-suicidal at various times, especially if you count the entire 5-year window you cite. Short of a 110-win season followed by total playoff domination, following the team through this board will never be fun. -

Amen. With the benefit of a little cooling-off time, last night actually had several "long-term" positives. The offense woke up and kept pushing despite some shitty luck at the end. Pollock may have shaken off the dust. Kopech is looking like an ace, which could be huge. The ninth was a comedy of errors that can hopefully be chalked up to "one of those innings" and won't linger. If we win this series all will be forgotten - let's start tonight. -
Are you really here gloating?
-
Serious question: are you an actual polar bear?
-
Well, you did. You typed these words: "Burger is better than Moncada or Harrison and that's a fact." If you want to walk that position back, though, I don't blame you.
-
Putting your little debate club skirmish aside, do you actually think Jake Burger is a better player than Yoan Moncada? Or is this a bit?

Let's go Sox: turn the Guardians into a team over which victories are no longer impressive! -
Was about to search my history for you, but I guess see the posts immediately surrounding yours for one of them ?

A few of said posters praised the BoSox off-season specifically while blasting the White Sox by comparison. Don’t worry, though, I’m sure they now discount the sweep in Fenway as meaningless because the Red Sox are obviously a bad team. I mean, the White Sox beat them!
-
Dear god. This is like the fifth time. No offense, but your joke detector is seriously broken.
-
I’m talking about the supposedly easy schedule they’re about to face, beginning with the Astros
-
I don’t see the Twins keeping this up, despite the supposedly easy schedule
-
My biggest fear is that the Sox will go out and win the World Series and fool the world into thinking the front office built a World Series-winning team.
-
I think last year it was because of Patriots’ Day/Boston Marathon. That already happened this year…I believe this early start can be blamed on the peacock broadcasting nonsense.
-
Yes, if there’s one thing the Soxtalk anti-fans are good at, it’s admitting when they’re wrong
-
Yes, it was just the equivalent of a Red Sox home broadcast: how can “the Sox” (as that inane play by play person kept calling the Red Sox) come back and win this? That was their sole focus. Just the icing on the cake of the worst broadcast I think I’ve ever watched. Oh well, “Sox” win, which is what matters.
-
This broadcast is coaxing me into a simmering rage
-
If you cut a 3-run lead to two runs are you “cutting the lead in half”?
-
Way to miss the pitch, AppleTV. This broadcast sucks
-
The thing about Sheets is that he’s not good
-
Apple TV definitely leads the mlb broadcasters in bass drops. My sub is getting a workout
-
But I jumped through all the hoops Manfred set up for me and figured out how to stream each of the games for myself! That doesn't remotely address whether it's fair or good to force fans to jump through these hoops in the first place. But it does show that I'm very smart, very tech savvy, and a very good boy.

Was there last night and the place was rocking, and loaded with Sox fans. Almost a playoff-type atmosphere. Who says the crosstown is dead? Anyway, great win, and thanks to Foster from saving me from what could have been a brutal night.

Crosstown Series Game Two--6:40 CT

No. Seriously, though - you can pay a bunch to park super close to the stadium, but if you're willing to walk 15 minutes or jump on the Addison bus you can park for free in lots of spots once you get west of Damen. I live around here and I always walk to the games.
