  1. Don't care, but I'm in mourning for our Cub fan brethren. This kind of thing is what they live for.
  2. When I opened the season schedule when it came out, I remember thinking "boy, if we can just get through August..."
  3. Love it when a bullpen comes together.
  4. We also beat them in Chicago.
  5. I mean, I guess the Sox would be slight underdogs if the playoffs started in five minutes. I guess the Sox would have been "favorites" a week ago when they had a better record. We'll see where we are in a month.
  6. God, I hope so. If Cease turns into 2005 Contreras down the stretch we'll probably win the World Series.
  7. Boy that escalated...slowly?
  8. Friend from Seattle told me Kelenic just successfully contested a parking ticket. BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE
  9. Thanks. Huh, didn’t know that…but it does feel like we let up a little when we come home against the Cubbies.
  10. I have always loved, and will always love, beating the Cubs.
  11. Right, but why? Why is that number significant, as opposed to games won? Is it just that they have the same record on the north side and south side?
  12. Regular season series is 70-64 Sox. Not sure what the 35-32 refers to…?
  13. What was the story? Just the usual Cub/Sox stuff or was there any more to it?
  14. There are at least 5 posters with an age over, and IQ under, 70 ready for a high five on that one
  15. Cub fan starting this game thread? Bad juju
  16. Oops—forgot Red Sox (which is actually kind of telling). I would put them in exact same place as you did.
  17. In the final analysis Id rank them: White Sox Marlins D’backs Dodgers Cubs Giants
  18. I count losing the play-in game as “missing the playoffs” too, so I’m still holding out hope for the Yankees suffering that fate.
  19. Actually, I hope all these idiots lead the Sox to a dynasty and multiple World Series titles first (purely ironically, of course) then go away. That would be hilarious and really cement their shit legacies.
  20. It’s so funny to see you still defending this little “120 game” hill all by yourself. ?
  21. I vividly remember sitting with a Red Sox fan acquaintance the week entering the 2005 playoffs. He said “boy, I wouldn’t be feeling too good if I were you. White Sox almost blew their lead and haven’t really played well in like three months. Red Sox are the champs. Just doesn’t feel like your year.” You know what? Deep down, I felt “he’s right.” That was the zeitgeist at that moment. Couldn’t beat the good teams. Recently spanked by the Angels. We were out of gas. He was right. Until he wasn’t. Lots of revisionist history about the 2005 team. Not sure what will happen with this bunch, but we’re blessed to be in position to roll into the playoffs untouched. If we get hot at the right time with our full team together (for more or less the first time) watch the fuck out.
  22. .500 against the most brutal part of our schedule? I’ll take it
