  1. Make that 9 seed, I actually think I would prefer to be where Fla. St is at.
  2. Illinois 8 seed vs UNLV in the first round
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 12:49 AM) I thought Agon was gonna be a stud after that like 12-pitch AB against Zumaya in the bottom of the 9th. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) Sox fans are smart. Sigh....
  4. You're going to allow 20 ABs effect your whole image of a baseball player, great. Lillibridge is about as bad as you will see in the bigs when it comes to hitting, and his fielding his nothing special either. So why are people so enthralled by him? Milledge has atleast shown that he can hit in the majors, and has the potential to be a starter, Lillibridge shouldn't even make an MLB team.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) It's funny because I've just kind of counted Lillibridge out all along since he's, you know, terrible. I had no idea anyone was hoping he'd make the roster out of spring training. What versatility he does possess is redundant on this ballclub, he's probably slower than the other 2 he's competing against, I know for a fact he's slower than De Aza, he's the oldest of the 3 (19 months older than Milledge, 1 year older than De Aza) and he's the weakest hitter of the bunch since he's pretty much a disgrace at the plate. I just assumed he'd be dumped near the end of camp, likely via trade for next to nothing and either De Aza or Milledge would be carried. I thought De Aza may have a slight advantage since he can't be sent to the minors without first clearing waivers and Milledge can though Lastings has at least proven that he can hit a little at the major league level, something De Aza hasn't had a chance to prove really thanks in part to the devastating ankle injury he suffered in '07. And then there's Milledge's potential. I'm still thinking De Aza or Milledge and I'm not sure I REALLY care which of the 2 is chosen though I'd probably lean toward Milledge. This is also assuming Milledge has no out clause in his contract, something I haven't seen reported anywhere. They're generally given to vets, though Milledge's production last season really should have landed him with a major league gig for 2011 so it'd be odd to see him start the season in the minors. Couldn't say it better.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) I find this interesting: Lillibridge career minor league slash stats: .268/.348/.409/.758 Milledge career major league slash stats: .269/.328/.394/.723 Milledge's minor league slash .301 .379 .470 .849 Milledge has a ton of potential over Lillibridge, and given what we already have and need, he is a much better fit. Lillibridge is just a terrible ballplayer, and should not be on a 25 man roster of a team that is trying to contend.
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) I love Brent's skill set off the bench. How is having a guy who can play 6 positions, with pop and +speed so terrible? I wouldn't mind having him on the bench for 5 years. Unless The Mill is faster than The Bridge, why take him? If nothing else The Bridge is an excellent late-inning pinch runner for our slow guys. 1B: Konerko, Dunn, Teahen 2B: Beckham, Vizquel, Teahen SS: Ramirez, Vizqiel, Morel 3B: Morel, Vizquel, Teahen LF: Pierre. Teahen CF: Rios RF: Quentin, Teahen So what if Lillibridge can play 6 positions, the only backup that we truly need is OF, and Millidge is a better OF, the speed difference is minimal, and Lilli is a .180ish batter besides a 20 at bat streak. Milledge is a better bat, has more potential, and fits our needs better.
  8. From what I have been told the radiation wouldnt pretty much not leave the premises of the nuclear plant if it does meltdown, but that is from what I remember m brother telling me about a year ago. I really hope they are able to fix the pumps, there's a big future depending on that fix including my brother's career.
  9. PSU making a push to steal a bid, not sure if it will be enough unless they win the B10 tourney.

    May would be perfect.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) You're looking at the entire season. Look at June and July when he got more playing time. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...ar=2010&t=b He held an average over .270 until mid September. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...p;t=b&year= That's because he most likely won't see much playing time behind Teahen and Vizquel, you have to look at what he brings as an occasional bench player, and it's terrible.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Try to find another cheap, speedy player who can play 2nd, 3rd, ss, lf, cf, & rf. If he gets playing time, he can put up good stats. He did it last year while Teahen was out. .224 .248 .378 .625 is far from good. And I doubt he even repeats that.
  13. A bad player who is versatile is still a bad player.
  14. Flowers will return in a big way. We have a few prospects such as Reed and Thompson make big steps.

    QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:39 AM) What.the.f***
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Surprise surprise, Purdue not at home, getting whooped As long as MSU doesn't pull an Illinois they look to be in the tourney pretty well now.
  17. Lillibridge at league minimum and on the 25 man roster makes Teahen at $5 million look good.
  18. Lillibridge offers flexibility, but that's really the only clear advantage over Milledge. But when you have Vizquel and Teahen (and Dunn can play 1b) also on the bench I don't really see the need for another infielder, especially one as bad as Lillibridge.
  19. Im tired of defending this program, this team, and Weber. Something needs to change before the next season, and most likely a coaching change.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) That would have been me for sure. "I'm getting off th damn road, the traffic sucks, oh s***!". And nothing you can do at that point other than ride it out in your car as long as you can. If they really couldnt see it coming and it was moving that fast, yea I could totally see myself getting blindsided like those in the video did. But looking at that much debris in the water it looks like riding it out would not really be a survivable.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) Sure you can see that, but I when I say "change," I am referring to his offensive game in general, which I believe can't be truly discerned from his small sample size. He just is not very good, IMO. Slow, bad defense at catcher, not enough power for the a DH, horrible contact skills, etc. And the only thing that will change my opinion of him will be seeing him produce in AAA in more than 11 at-bats. First off, he's a catcher so slow isn't really that big of a drawback, neither for a DH who typically are slower. And to say he's a bad defensive catcher when there have been multiple reports over the past few years about how much he has improved and how pitchers feel comfortable with him is off to me. He has a lot to prove still, but he also still has a lot of talent and if he fixed mechanics he could be back on track to contributing at the MLB level.

Jeez, what were those people thinking when they drove perpendicular to the incoming tsunami?? It's crazy and sad that they caught that on camera. Also, the amount of debris that is in that water is just ridiculous, the amount of damage that will create Im sure is astronomical.
  23. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) Preety sure this has not been posted yet, but if it has then it deserves to be posted again.
