Who blew it?

There was a good Law and Order about that case.

That used to piss me off to no end.

I will never forget working my first job as a cashier/night manager at a grocery store where we had a customer service desk that took bill payments and sold lottery tickets. At least once a day we had someone come up with their LINK card to withdraw cash from their EBT (supposed to be used for bills, non-food items such as laundry detergent, etc) and they would have money rolls, name brand clothes, gold dripping off of their person, cell phones and spend about $50 in lotto tickets. I know not all welfare recepients (as I mentioned all my sister gets is the med card for my nephew) are like this, but when I saw this it would make me sick. I often had to remind myself why I put myself in debt with SL and such after seeing those people.

Yahoo's story on RW and a failed drug test... Report: Williams Said He Failed Drug Test 44 minutes ago Add Sports - AP to My Yahoo! MIAMI - Retired Dolphins running back Ricky Williams said he failed a third drug test for marijuana use, which would cost him a four-game suspension if he decides to return to the NFL, The Miami Herald reported on its Web site Thursday. Williams told the newspaper that marijuana played a larger role in his retirement than he indicated when he walked away after just five pro seasons. He said he learned of the failed test and possible suspension days before telling coach Dave Wannstedt last week that he was through playing. Williams said, however, that there were "a hundred reasons" for his surprising decision to retire, and his desire to continue smoking marijuana was only one of them. "I didn't quit football because I failed a drug test," he told the Herald. "I failed a drug test because I was ready to quit football." Williams said he's not addicted to marijuana. Coach Dave Wannstedt said the Dolphins have received no notification from the NFL regarding a third failed drug test, and Williams' latest revelation caught them by surprise. "We knew nothing about it," Wannstedt said. "I'm totally surprised and shocked again." Wannstedt said he's eager to move beyond the Williams situation and open training camp Saturday. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment when reached by The Associated Press. In May, three South Florida newspapers quoted unidentified sources saying Williams tested positive for marijuana and faced a fine of at least $650,000 for violating the substance-abuse policy for the second time since joining the Dolphins in 2002. He told the Herald for Thursday's story that he already decided to quit football before that second positive test. He appealed that fine, but received word last week that his appeal had been denied, the Herald reported. While the appeal was pending, Williams said, he continued smoking marijuana during a trip to Europe and failed a third test upon his return. He said he had been using a masking agent to cleanse his system while being randomly tested for two seasons but he didn't do that before the last test. Williams first failed a drug test soon after arriving in Miami in 2002, the Herald reported. He spent much of his two seasons with the Dolphins in the league's drug program, seeing a therapist weekly and taking eight to 10 random urine tests a month, the story said. Williams suffers from social-anxiety disorder and was a spokesman for the anti-depressant Paxil. He said marijuana helped him once he had to stop using Paxil because it didn't agree with his diet. Williams played three seasons for New Orleans but didn't blossom until he was dealt to the Dolphins in 2002 for two first-round draft picks. At times, Miami's biggest trade since 1970 looked like a steal. Williams led the NFL in 2002 with 1,853 yards rushing and broke nine team records. Last season he ran for 1,372 yards despite little offensive support.

My mom read that a few years back. I read a bit of it. I must see if she still has it or if it was one of my aunt's books...thanks for the idea.

Precisely!

And I will repeat and reword. .327 BA is good and the fact remains that the pitchers ERA is best with him out of all the catchers we had this year (including Olivo - there was a link to something that showed this in a previous thread). Catcher is hardly the weakest link on this team. But that is JMO.

You haven't watched him much, have you? Last 2 years Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2003 CHA 6 8 0 3 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 .375 .375 .375 .750 2004 CHA 30 55 7 18 5 0 0 8 2 6 0 0 .327 .351 .418 .769 And defensively, he's been at least decent. But that is just my opinion.

He never struck me as a killer 13 yr old, who knew?

I got to know them, yeah. I helped her take them for a walk every now and then.

When I was growing up, my friend has two and they were the sweetest dogs.

I don't think catcher is all that weak. Burke is doing quite well with the job. I think we have other holes to address.

Something similar happened on my block. I guess a cop (who lives a few doors down) came out and shot the dog when it took hold of a smaller dog that jumped in front of a little girl the dog was going towards. Of course the owners screamed holy hell, but to that I say too f***ing bad, it almost attacked the little girl and it did attack the other dog.

I got it as well, don't know if I am going to participate or not though because the class action website was down this monring. I'll probably try once or twice more just to see.

Damn straight! If Weekes didn't whine so much to the press I would say he would be a great backup goalie, but he has a history of it (apparently did it alot in NC from what I read on Canes baords and definitely did it when he was with TB). Tbo was great in one game I saw him in, but looked really soft in most of the others. Gotta agree with you on your Tbo assesment, Evil.

I don't disagree with that whatsoever. It just seems that there are so many out there taking advantage of the system that those who use it is as it is intended (a helping hand, not a way of life) are over looked.

Is it me, or is it really not a good idea to hold up a gun store?

What town?

FWIW, my sister makes just above that (working 40+ hrs a week). The only benefit she gets is a medical card for her son, that's it. She is trying to change her situation though, she is planning to go back and finish her degree soon (either this fall or spring - she's filling out paperwork as I write this). Kate-> -> Megan I know that isn't the case all around for people that make 20-30K a year, but just wanted to make a note that there are some that use government help to get them out of their troubles, not as a crutch for the rest of their lives.
-
No Kevin Weekes did that. The prick was leaning against the net (right after a Canes goal to tie the damned game) when someone took a shot from right inside the blue line and it was in for a goal. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw that (one of three damned games that I got to see last year, at least the other two were wins ).

I think through WSI, but I can't remember for certain.
