What type of internet connection
We have a commodore in the basement as well. We were thinking of taking it out of retirement since he has so many games for it and I never had the pleasure of using one.

thoughts on the the U of Illinois
From talking with engineers in the field, IIT isn't as respected as it used to be. When they saw both IIT (there for a year - biggest mistake of my life) and UIC on my resume and that I graduated from UIC, they said I made a good choice in leaving IIT and going to UIC. They said the education isn't what it used to be because the professors are too worried about tenure and not worried enough about teaching (which is why I left). When I graduated in the fall of 2000, the tuition, per year, for an engineer was $5500. It was getting raised the following year and I hear there is another hike on the horizon.

Forgot about UIC. They have a damned good engineering dept (specifically electrical, but I think the mechanical isn't bad either). Their medical schools are also up there.

Can't help it that DSL wasn't offered in the area of the city that I am in until about 6 months ago. :fyou DSL internet providers.

What type of internet connection
I don't know what work's connection is, but at home I am currently using a 56K. After the house is finished being rebuilt I am getting DSL or cable, but probably DSL. (I know there is DSL available in my area finally, but I don't know about cable.)

Wolves Game
Brian and I will have to pass. We have tickets for the Bears-Cardinals game on the 30th and can't afford two outings a weekend anymore.

cHisoxfn please
I agree. I am now 27 and he is 31. He is more mature than some 40ish people I know.

cHisoxfn please
Hey! I am 4.5 years younger than my fiancé. Then again, we started dating when I was 24 and he was 28 (I don't know how old PA and Ms. PA were when they started dating).

Happy Birthday Fan0f14!
Thanks all for the happy birthday wishes. Yup, the Flash guessed right - Brian got me an engagement ring for my birthday. Maybe later or Monday I will take a picture and upload it. It's absloutely gorgeous. By the way, if I never see a can of paint or a paint brush that isn't for decorative/hobby painting, it will be too soon.

God Bless our Veterans
I'm a little lost, where did he mention the Bush Admin? Not trying to be a smartass, just trying to follow the conversation in this thread.

O'Reilly Factor Tonight
It's a porn tape of a celebrity...there are a multitude of these out there, what's to discuss? I guess there's nothing like a slutty rich bimbo to bring in the ratings...

Wolves Game outing
Exactly why we were hoping to see them! They kicked some ass last year too, just barely missed the finals if I recall correctly.

You too can own a piece of history
I heard about that on the radio this morning. People that bid on this have to be out of their ever lovin' minds!

Wolves Game outing
We already checked when we were looking at games to go to this year. I was hoping maybe the next season, but it looks like it'll be a wait and see thing.

Wolves Game outing
Any idea if/when in upcoming seasons Binghamton will play the Wolves in Chicago? Brian is a big fan of the Senators and thusly a big fan of their farm teams (he was quite POd when the Griffens became the farm team for the Wings).

Latest Rumors Flying Around
That was my point, but I didn't word it completely (my fault). It's along the lines of calling an Irish person British and vice-versa or a Polish person Lithuanian or vice-versa.

Actually at time most were fleeing a mass slaughtering, but I understand what you are saying. The point that confuses me is that the most of the people that are 'offended' by these aren't even Native American or from the Tribes that Chief represents. If the tribes truely are offended, get rid of him. The fact is that the Chief isn't a characture like Chief Wahoo and from what I was told his cloths and the dance that he does is actual clothing and dances from the tribes represented. If this is incorrect info, so be and get rid of him.

University of Illinois
Acutally no, around the turn of the century they were denied work and worse. It's funny that you think it is wrong to say Fighting Jews and the Italian stereotype you used, but it is okay to say Fighting Irish.

University of Illinois
I am Irish and I really don't care that Notre Dame uses 'Fighting Irish' which has its roots in just such a stereotypical view of the Irish. I have more to worry about than what some over-priced school uses as a masot and fight phrase. It's funny that the PC police seem to think that if you are of a white ethnicity (Irish, Polish, Italian) etc. it's okay to use those phrases. It's considered cute not politically incorrect.

Why is it okay then for Notre Dame to use the term 'Fighting Irish?'
