  1. Awesome find! Not sure which I like better - the head banging pilots or the three guys parodying the flashlite bit.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Aren't they awesome! I love baking bread so much more after getting mine. I only wish I had gotten the bigger one where the bowl is raised to the mixer. Mine is almost 20 years old and still working perfect. Wait until you whip potatoes Funny you should mention whipped taters. I am tossing around that thought for tomorrow's dinner. Mashed taters..............YES! I hope to get some time to try making some bread before the wedding, but the weekends are so packed that I don't know if time will permit. The Julia Child bakery cook book I have has several rustic loaf recipes I've been wanting to try.
  3. It is unreal how easy (and quick) baking is when you get a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I made butter cookies and lemon bars today and was ready to bake more.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) I think the most powerful part of the article was when he talks about having to listen to his fathers funeral over his cell phone. I mean that is really sad. Knowing how much it meant to my dad to go home to bury his mom and dad, that is heart breaking that he couldn't be there.
  5. I just got home from the game. It started poorly (the tickets I purchased for today turned out to have been dated 9/4 - ) but finished up with a bang! That was some game to attend - it had to have one of the best games I ever attended.
  6. What are the chances of getting this game in tonight? I am heading out to the game, but just curious.
  7. I would be if I didn't already have 3 for tonight. Good luck finding a home for them!
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) How many people who say Carl STFU would take that advice in their own jobs? I am doing just that right now at mine (I guess it helps when others question the actions of certain higher ups). I don't have time to look for a new one until the new year. I've already seen my boss and the receptionist (who had 22 years in with the company and is 62) sacked, I can't afford to be sacked myself.
  9. That was somewhat heart wrenching. He is a lucky man that he got to live out his dream and has a WS ring to show for his career. His last year with the Giants and subsequent surgeries and such epitomizes the term "team player."
  10. I think salary heavily depends on where you teach. Brian's cousin teaches at a public school in the south suburbs (she is at a K-8 school) and makes (or so she says) above 90K a year - she's been there for about 5 years, I believe. A friend of mine taught at a Catholic school (math in the middle grades) in the south surburbs and made less than 30K. I saw the salaries of the teachers in the Woodridge/Darien/DG area and I remember the lowest salary being around 40K and that was for someone who had about 1 year in there.
  11. Sorry, but Carl hasn't done s*** for this team in some time. I side with Oz on this one. Carl, STFU and play the game.
  12. While puttering around on the net, I came across this.
  13. Not going tonight, but will be there tomorrow with my mom and brother. Turns out it will be Brian's first day off in 21 days and his first Saturday off in about 2-3 months. Freaking figures it's the one Saturday evening game I chose to attend.
  14. I don't agree with the school did in the least, but they are within their rights as a private school. Granted in this day and age, anyone can sue for anything and still manage to win so I wouldn't be surprised if they did sue and win, but I really can't see on what grounds they could sue.
  15. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Not much news on our homefront, well, other than my 3 year old daughter deciding to cut her own hair last week... SFF LOL! I remember trying to give my brother a hair cut. That didn't work out so well lol.
  16. QUOTE(Balance @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I'm getting married in February.... Good luck!
  17. CONGRATS!!!!! It's a regular baby-boom here, isn't it?

    What a crock!!

    Why'd they kill him? Was it because he couldn't (realistically) feed himself anymore?
  19. Thanks for asking! Tough part right now is that Brian's dad is in the hospital and they are still waiting for test results. Brian's brother came up to visit their dad yesterday (he lives outside of Springfield). He seemed convinced something was really not right and wasn't as simple as they were all hoping. Here's praying he is wrong and Mr C will be home and 100% shortly. Not much new, really. Had my first fitting a week and a half ago and go for my second fitting on 10/1 (after getting my last two brackets on a couple hours earlier and he better use brackets rather than bands dammit). Have about half our response cards back - how f***ing hard is it to mark yes or no and send it back in a pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelope?! We had the shower on Sunday and couldn't believe the generosity of our friends and family (half the stuff is still in boxes on the kitchen floor as we haven't had time to figure out what goes where. The thank yous were sent out Tuesday afternoon, so that was completed quickly. The hallway between our room and the guest room is filled with wedding crap that Brain and I are getting sick of walking over. My friend is going to help me to kit up the centerpieces and assemble the favors (have the tulle, ribbon and blue and green m&ms so now I just need time to assemble lol). I have most of the bridesmaid/flower girl/ring bearer gifts and Brian will be ordering the groomsmen and ushers gifts this weekend. I have to hassle the organist/cantor as she was supposed to call a couple weeks ago to set up a time to meet and go over the ceremony music. I have the mass planned out, just need to go over that with Father as soon as Brian finishes the test that Father needs to go over with us. I also need to call the photographer to make sure all is good and find out who, exactly, will be the photographer. Oh, and he and I need to figure out when we are going to get the marriage license in the next few weeks. The last few details that are needed are tough to accomplish when you and your FI are on opposite shifts and he is working 7 days a week. I still need to put the introduction music list together (all I have right now is Thunderstruck for the bridal part and Another One Bites The Dust for Brain and myself).
  20. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) It's the RED wire. No NOT THE RED ONE - it's the OTHER one!
  21. My personal favorite: I also like the Harry Doyle line after he cusses saying "Who care's? No one is listening anyway!"
  22. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Queen, I’m sorry to hear about your loss. It can be difficult enough to find a sympathetic shoulder to lean on when grieving for a “traditional” pet like a cat or dog. It’s nice to see that people here understand your feelings of sadness about Stinky. I agree and I greatly appreciate it. My mom was at the game with me last night when I found out he had died. She was actually comforting which is most unlike my mother. Brian was worried about how I would take it, but couldn't put it off anymore as he was leaving for work around the 7th inning and didn't want me to find out by coming home and seeing an empty spot where the cage was. He took care of the burial services so I didn't have to see him (if anyone digs behind our garage, I am afraid of what they might think with the 3 hamster graves we have back there). Thanks again everyone for the thoughts, it does help.
