Everyone The thing that sucked so much about 94 being cancelled was that there were so many potential records that could have been broken. IIRC, Gwynn was hitting like .380 or .390, several players have 35+ homers(off the top of my head, Belle, Thomas, Griffey, Bagwell, and Williams), Chuck Knoblauch was on pace to break the doubles record, the Braves were going to lose the NL East, and the AL West was most likely going to have a first place team under .500(I think the Rangers were leading and they were like 5-10 games under). What could have been. Oh well, what are you going to do?

The team's played like s***. Blame it on losing big Mo. Blame it on Elo's lack of stepping up. Blame it on Scho, hell, I don't give a s***, blame it on friggin Freddy Garcia for all I care. Good teams overcome adversity like that. Good teams don't give a s*** when a player mouths off, good teams don't give a s*** when a pitcher f***s up, good teams know that chemistry is a class they took in high school and college and is not a thing in a locker room. This team is playing like s***. Something has to be done. This team does this year in and year out...they go through a stretch of 15-20 games where they absolutely kill everything and hit homer after homer after homer. Then the pitchers that face them adjust, and we have 10-15 games where we have dead bats. Has this team forgotten that in 2000 we did not score our runs because of homers, but rather because they went with the pitch instead of trying to muscle the ball out of the ballpark? If there is a pitch over the outer half of the plate, I'd expect it to end up in the opposite field gap in 2000...now a days I see that same pitch and it is a flyout that is pulled. This team is f***ed up right now, and the offense is absolutely lifeless. The pitching has not stepped up. And the end of the bullpen will be a little off now because they are not being used on a regular basis. This s*** just snowballs and snowballs, and something needs to stop this s***. The sooner we get a motivated Maggs back, the better.

I like watching Moneymaker play too. His aggressive style of play is awesome. IMO, he's probably one of the better bluffers in the world. His bluff of Sam Farha last year was complete ownership.

It happened in May. Settle down. It's not like I told you the ending of a movie. You could find this almost anywhere on the internet.

Here's what I look at. The Twins schedule in the second half is hard as hell. Ours is easy. IIRC, the Twins will be done or will have played almost all of their games agianst the Tigers and Royals BEFORE the ASB. We don't play the Tigers until AFTER the ASB, and we have like 10 or 15 games with the Royals in the second half. Here's what else I look at. There is still 2 and a half months left, and we are down 2.5. Considering that we were just starting a series with Detroit at this time last year after losing 2 of 3 to the DRays and were 5 or 6 games out, I can handle it. We get healthy, and get another starter, and we are good enough to win the division(especially if we get RJ). BTW, we were swept by the Tigers in that series. In fact, after taking 9 or 12 from the Cubbies and Twinkies last year, we then went 3-7 against the AL's Least...Tampa, Detroit, and Cleveland.

Probably comes out earlier if you preorder it

LOL, sorry

In case you guys were unaware of what was going on, Vogl did not win the main event of the WSOP. He won the no limit hold em event.

What's your point? We already gave up our #1 prospect and our future catcher for a pitcher that has not given us fewer then 4 ER in any of his starts(though he has only made 2 starts). Johnson also makes $16 mill a year for the next two years. May as well go for it all. Worst case scenario, we lose the division, along with Maggs, and we probably trade away Lee and/or Konerko to have some money to pay for Johnson and Garcia. We are in a retooling phase...like we are year in and year out practically. Best case scenario...we go to the playoffs, we win the ALDS, win the ALCS, and I suppose win the World Series too. We become the kings of Chicago again.

"Available" players mentioned on ESPN.com
witesoxfan replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd do Lee for Pavano is a friggin heartbeat. And I'd do Lee for Penny in a heartbeat too. But does the article say both are available, or that one or the other is available, or does it say neither is available? Cuz if both are available, I am sitting here wondering if a Maggs and Scho(along with maybe a prospect or two) for Pavano and Penny trade would work out. -
I'd rather have Flash over Shingo too...IF they both cost the same amount. Shingo costs us $1 mill, Flash costs the Yankees about $3 mill. Flash is a damn good reliever, but $3 mill would be too much for us.

I like having Rowand over Hairston. Rowand's a decent hitter, has good range in the OF, and has a pretty damn good arm. I think the guy we should get is Robbie Alomar. He'd cost us practically nothing, and would be a good veteran prescence to have on the bench and in the lineup.

LMAO That picture would be so much better if it showed the Cubs dugout after they got eliminated last year.

I think you hit it on the head for the most part. I dont like ARodd as much as I should considering he is American and I am American. I just think he is too full of himself, and while he is very good and very talented, he is, quite frankly, not the best in the world like Federer is. However, I did not watch the Sharapova-Williams match - in fact, I have not seen Sharapova play at all - so I can't comment fully on what I think would happen. I just know that the Americans would be superoir in serving, and that the Russians would be superior in the return game. I think, at the very least, it would be an interesting match to watch.
-
Exactly the reason I thought of it. So how do we want to do this? Do we just want to get our panel of experts and then have 10-20 questions that are asked weekly by everyone on here or what/
-
I dont wanna trade Maggs...not to a non-contender. The Twins biggest offensive need is a bigtime power hitting RH hitter. Sounds a lot like Maggs.
-
I thought so too. Let's the casual baseball fan who wants to know more about the minors but doesn't know a lot about them learn a little more. And it ties FutureSox and White Sox Central a little closer together.

Standing, waiting for a walk IS dumb. That's what the kid in little league who hit second to last did. Being a patient hitter is not about looking for a walk. It is about waiting for your pitch to hit very hard somewhere, and if it doesn't come, then you watch it. You look for a pitch to drive or atleast hit very hard for a base hit. I can't comment on Carlos's hit...I did not watch the game. However, he has proven in the past to be an unpatient hitter, swinging at the first pitch. The fact is that KRod had walked a couple hitters ahead of him and was struggling with his control. Swinging at the first pitch is not always a good thing to do. I'm not sure what to think of Carlos. Sometimes he looks like he could be a stud power hitter. Sometimes he looks like he could be a good contact hitter. Sometimes he looks like a dumbass. I don't know what to think of him. And I think $9 mill next year for not knowing what to think of him is too much

We also had to pay a huge price to get Garcia here. Losing Garcia would be devastating.
-
I was wondering when you were going to get into this topic. Not a huge fan of soccer, but it's alright. I really have no interest in following soccer, but it is pretty fun to play. Tennis is fun to watch though. Here's a question to all though. In a mixed doubles match between Federer/Sharapova and Roddick/S. Williams, who wins?
-
Winn sucks ass. I'd rather just use Borchard then bother with Winn. I'd rather go after Danny Bautista, who I believe is a FA at the end of the season. He'd probably be a .300 20 80 .750-.800 type player in USCF, though in the end, I would like a good LH stick if at all possible.

The White Sox and Seattle not done dealing?
witesoxfan replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would guess just Diaz or Rauch and a fringe prospect. I'm just not sure how much more they could ask for. -

I do think that it would be Marte-Shingo-Guardado 7-8-9. With Politte's re-emergence, along with Guardado, we would almost overnight go from having a mediocre-s***ty bullpen to having a very good bullpen. You then consider that atleast one starter, and potentially two, could be moved to the bullpen in the playoffs as well. Guardado would be a solid pickup to say the least. I think if we do get him, it will be for one of Rauch/Diaz and another fringe type. -
Chicago lord of trade: Williams has Sox in hunt
witesoxfan replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think I would have rather taken my chances on Aaron Myette then have to deal with Choice again. He was a s***head.
