You mean like the people in the Nick Berg incident(and the following ones as well)? Yeah, that pissed me off too.
-
I hope we can resign him in 3 years. He's a hell of a player.
-
Atlanta, right now, will not take Rauch for Ortiz. They believe they're still in it. I don't think they are. Wait a month, and if Ortiz isn't gone by then, you THEN give them Rauch
-
I like Schneider a hell of a lot. He'd be solid as hell.
-
Mo is a fan favorite, and most people took for granted that he'd be here for a while. He's replaceable. But it's almost like losing Maggs, without considering losing him a possibility. It hurts. We are not hurting in the catcher's department, but losing Mo hurts.
-
WHICH IS WHY WE GOT BEN DAVIS TOO!
-
I don't know how many times Aboz has said this...and I completely agree with him. WE DON'T NEED OFFENSE OUT OF OUR CATCHER. We need a guy who calls a good game, has good defense, has a good arm, and can handle the bat. If you want a comparison, Mark Johnson could work(I do not want him back, but he would be a possibility). Ben Davis with Alomar and Burke will be fine.
-
Actually, I think that's how it would work. And then Atlanta can just take Maggs off whenever they need to...it is retroactive to the last time he played, which was about a month ago, so they can just put him on the 15-day DL, and since he's already been on the DL for 15 days, they can take him off whenever. Or they could just trade him while he's on the DL. Nothing wrong with that, so long as both teams know he is injured(or neither team knows he's injured). Since he went under the knife, I have a hunch both teams know he's injured.
-
He's not that stupid. Stop worrying.

If it doesn't get us to the Series...that's fine. We can live without the series. We NEED to win the division. And quite frankly, the Twins do too. They are the 2-time defending champs and all, but that does not matter right now. That is in the rear view mirror. If they do not win, they could be looking at losing quite a few players. But the Series would be OK.

Once Maggs is back, Jose is suddenly out of the lineup? What the f*** kind of messed up logic is that? Uribe does not have to play everyday. Harris does not have to play everyday. Simple as that. Let Uribe play quite a bit of 2B, a little more 3B, and SS against tough lefties(when Willie plays). Let Willie play CF a little more, let him play 2B some more, and give him a shot in LF now and then. Jose is not OUT of the lineup once Maggs comes back. That's just completely stupid to say that.

We'll have no trouble getting a backup catcher. Hell, Brent Mayne can be had out of Arizona for practically nothing(I think he's healthy anyways). Greg Myers in Toronto would cost a bag of balls. There are tons of mediocre catchers available...give me one that will stay healthy that calls a good game, blocks the plate well, and has a good arm, and can hit between .230-.250.

It's not any different from our standpoint. In fact, IIRC, Bartolo and Freddy are similar pitchers. The difference in price is this...Seattle does NOT have to get rid of Freddy. They can keep him, offer him arb, let him go, and get two draft picks for him. Or they can send him to NY(who wants him badly), or they can send him to LA(who wants him badly), and get just what they need. Montreal, on the other hand, NEEDED to get rid of Bartolo Colon. They had to cut roughly $8-10 mill off their payroll, and coincidentally, Bartolo Colon made $8.5 mill. When you have that kind of situation put in front of you, it will be hard as hell to get much of anything for a guy, knowing you HAVE to get rid of him(unless it is like Pedro or Vlad or Pujols...then teams will be lining up to get him). Also, there was not mutual interest from several teams. Boston wanted him, Atlanta wanted him(but then got Ortiz instead who only went on to win 21 games for them), and very few others did. Essentially, it was us against Boston, and NY helped us get Bartolo over here to keep Boston from getting him. When you have a team helping you like New York was helping us, it is a lot easier and costs a lot less. We overpaid for Freddy...but at full price, it would not cost much less.
-
Lol, yeah I know I think we paid too much. And I think I have made it clear, I do not care about Reed right now, I do not care about Morse...it is losing Olivo that bugs the s*** out of me. It is for a stud though. Garcia is the best available pitcher, and if he can win us a good amount of ball games and be a stud for us, we are all good.
-
By a good chunk of his contract...are you talking like 50% or more of the $34 mill he is due from 05-07? I mean, if that's the case, bring him on.
-
You're right...we gave up 3
-
OK, I was kind of talking out of aggression right there...maybe build a team around is too much. But I think he will be a damn fine player. And I do think he could be a 20-20 type player when it's all said and done.
-
If we trade Jose for Ramon(which was brought up like a month and a half ago and was shot down then), we are f***ing stupid beyond belief. Jose has 15 homers...from the SS position...from the LH side of the plate. f*** Ramon Ortiz quite frankly. Jose is #1(in this trade anyways).

Just to add to this thread again. Watching the Seattle-Texas game tonight...I saw Big Mo(not playing obviously, but I saw him nonetheless), and I feel a lot better. I saw him talk to Eddie Guardado and I saw him talk with him and laugh with him. It was definately a sigh of relief. I'll miss Big Mo. He's a hell of a player now, and is only getting better. But I've moved on. It has settled in. Let's hope that Freddy Garcia kicks the f***ing s*** out of those Twinky-ass b****es on Wednesday.
-
Same thing here. I didn't get to sleep till like 2:30(went to bed at 1:50, meaning I sat in bed and just thought about the trade for about 40 minutes) - and I damn near cried. Big Mo hurts. I'll miss him. As for when it will settle in...probably Wednesday night when he (hopefully) shuts the Twins the f*** up.
-
Sounds good. Bad thing is, if we don't win it, it is rebuilding time next year. Maggs will definately be gone, Garcia will be gone, Loaiza could be gone, Scho will be gone, Konerko probably will be gone, Lee could be gone...it will be total rebuild. So they better f***ing win.

Olivo is young talent that is MLB ready. He was doing very well for us. Notrhing says he couldn't continue to mature and become one of the better young catchers in the league. I would bet that 5-7 years down the road, Olivo turns into a stud catcher that you can build a team around(ala Ivan Rodriguez). I think he could potentially be a 20-20 threat in the long run. Chad Bradford was dealt for Miguel Olivo. This is true. However, we also gave Seattle Jeremy Reed(our #1 prospect) and Michael Morse, a solid player. Seattle also got John Halama and Carlos Guillen for RJ. Guillen is only one of the best SS's in the league right now(albeit with the Tigers). It is not Bradford for RJ. It is nothing close to Bradford for RJ. Looking at the main cogs of deals is fine and dandy...when you realize what the main cog of the deal was. It was NOT Olivo for Garcia...Seattle would laugh in our face if that was the deal. It was Olivo and Reed, with a fringe prospect in Morse, for Garcia and Davis. I know I was not sad because Olivo did not talk to the media. I was sad because Olivo is a hell of a player, and he takes nothing for granted. He busts his ass 100% of the time, and if he can help it, he busts ass some more after that. He is a fun-loving guy, and as a fan, you can see that in him. It is hard as f*** to lose Olivo.
-
He'll end the year with 12-16 wins IMO...meaning 8-12 wins for the good guys.
-
Decent. Not quite as good as crotch guard or moose milking, but not terrible. I ask one question. What does Ivan look like? (I ask this to see what comes up )

I tried to make the Meet the Parents thing, but couldn't. But I did find this
